PRO / LO ARCHITECTURE

“How human behavior simulation can be identify and implement into a design proposal? By human behavior, I mean the modalities through how people use a particular space to accomplish a task, how the casual relationship between the design of the different spaces cause interaction between people, mainly how architecture can connect us and creates a vibrant community?

Communities are comprised of a diverse mix of people, functions and uses. The built form that we give to communities helps to foster connections and communication; it becomes the stage for our culture. However, single destination buildings serve a single function, so they become a single experience, rather than a layered multiplicity of experiences.

But today we are seeing an increasing trend in architecture towards creating multi-point experiences through community-focused design, and how we can create a diverse community, bringing life to a space at different times for many different reasons. This is key to building vibrant neighbourhoods and lively communities.

8 hours of sitting infront of computers, workers are adapting sedentary lifestyle stressful mental health. Sedentary lifestyle is a type of lifestyle with little or no physical activity, it can potentially contribute to ill health, mental health and many preventable causes of death. Goes on vacation is one of the way to de-stress/balancing mental health. However, how frequently do workers does on vacation?

Many workers don’t take vacations often enough, because of the limited leave and the amount of unfinished work. In fact, some of the workers think that vacation is a waste of time, because it takes time to travel to far destinations. Why not bring the essense of a vacation inside the building. Therefore, the workers can work and unwind at the same time.

Workers always stuck in traffic, so no time for exercising. Due to lack of destinations on site, so some of them rather stay in the office to avoid traffic jam.

HUMAN CONNECTIONS

how to close the gap between

Due to rapid development, alot of shophouses turn into commercialised buildings, to cater more function to benefit their own business. Therefore it creates a strong disconnection humans and surroundings as the essence of organic architecture has faded.

The youths in Klang are moving away from town, because there is no tertiary education & activities for the youths. On the other hand, chinese associations nearby provides activities for the older generation. The elderly find this place a sense of nostalgic, and it is hard to adapt to in-trend things or topic.

culture of sekinchan?

Sekinchan is a small town located in Selangor, apart from being a lively fishing village, Sekinchan is one of the major rice producing areas of Malaysia.

The views reveal the emotions, at the same time it also represent different things in Sekinchan, and how the farmers embrace their planting life.

The Visitor Interpretive Centre (VIC) aims to convey the spirit of the people in Sekinchan, their rich culture and the culture of paddy planting which navigate between two extreme emotions of the farmers, harmony and competition by framing the view of Sekinchan.

The VIC's architecture attempts to embrace the rich culture of Sekinchan and understand more about paddy planting.

The visitors ascend the gallery, every steps that they take make the narrow space grows dimmer and higher interspersed with multiple thick angular walls to the sky portal and offering the mood of persistence. Visitor thought to herself, “don’t give up because the outcome is in just abit.

all the hardwork that he paid off, was it worth it?

Entering the sky portal, a large skylight opening on the top and direct the man’s visual to the sky, and the sunlight shines on his face, like its bathing his face and thinking all the hardwork that he paid off was worth it. The sun shines on the roof opening and creates a narrow shadow and direct the visitors to go up to the sky portal.

The space gets brighter and warmer to the cold and comtempary concrete, as the visitor reach the skyportal. A contrast visual technique was play in this space, the man see blue sky just now, and now he see paddy field.

But today we are seeing an increasing trend in architecture towards

creating multi-point

experiences

through community-focused design, and how we can create a diverse community, bringing life to a space at different times for many different reasons. This is key to building vibrant neighbourhoods and lively communities. Buildings are built to bring people together and strengthen communities, rather than wall them off from one another.
