Scout house 2012 location: Vyškov na Morave, CZ program: Scout centre “Junák” + kindergarten “Radost” assistant: Mária Topolčanská brief: House on the trees. House in between the trees. My idea is based on the knowledge that scouts are connected with nature. First of all I made a research about the existing trees located on the site. The design was being developed according to the position, condition and quality of healthy trees. The division of building is simple, downstairs is used by kindergarten and afternoon courses, upstairs is used by scout groups.

bachelor thesis - Renovation of Square in Stará Dúbravka 2013 location: Dúbravka Bratislava, SVK program: new public space assistant: Olga Richterová brief: To create a public space that serves as a space for people to relax, to meet and to fulfill their requirements and needs. To change the current situation of a frequent traffic area. To connect the residential area with the old quarter Dubravka incorporating a public space. To add a missing square to the old quarter Dubravka.

This place is not particularly defined, but it is made of roads for cars and public transport. It has not been used by people regularly, only in time of need. At the beginning I realized that the Old Dubravka is profitably connected to form a dispersion public space between buildings and rural habitation. It was necessary to get the area a feature of amenities that are lacking. To supplement and enrich a territory that is already full of potential to create a feature that complements the existing space. To create a main center of the entire Old Dubravka, which would consist of a harmonious interplay with a leisure center near the Church of the Resurrection.

I have defined an existing territory, I have set its shape and functionally divided into three zones. A culture, amenities and representative area of a local administrative department that form some sort of space hierarchy. A person and their position in the whole space have become the most important element of the square. When designing I was very inspired by history, the typical signs and symbols of the Old Dubravka. I wanted to support a position of the square to create a sophisticated public space, to preserve cultural values.

Interior is used as an exhibition space and small living area for artist. At ground level, the cast concrete floor provides a central exhibition space. Stories of Neu Aubing

looking for an identity

Identity - the Driver - front

revitalization of residential area 2014 location: Neu Aubing, Munich program: living and services assistant: Danielle Santucci brief: Neu Aubing is a residential apartment area near Munich constructed in the 60’ as a social housing with a lack of services and facilities for its inhabitants. The aim was to look for a new Identity of the block, so people living here can literally say I live here, I enjoy it and I recommend it to everyone. To offer more living space, densifying the space were other points we wanted to achieve.

High street of the front

Come also here and have a look how it is in our “Fingers! The flats are small but very cosy and you can pick from a big variety

I can also plant my own vegetables here! I feel like when I was younger and I spent lot of time outside in the garden.

Courtyard

Mixing different groups of people, filling the block with various services, creating more possibilities to work and changing environment within the block, so people can find what they are interested in. Our title of our project is stories of Neu Aubing. Working with people who live and may live in Neu Aubuing we considered as very important part of the proposal. We present the story of one day of one family, how they use all the potentials of New Neu Aubing. They live in a flat, parents work in the new facilities such as an art school and co-working space, children attend kindergarten...

Hi, my name is Arnold! Let me introduce you the Aubing community house, but first this is my wife Marilyn and our kids Jimmy and Angela. So as you already know this is our block, the place to be!

Kids with their friends from the block stay in the community nursery. The boy with guitar is a funny boy with crazy plans!

We decided to build a split level in our apartment. Now we have more space for us! And we live on grounfloor, I am closer to my plants, herbs and vegetables all the time!

conversion of old railway area 2015 location: Traunstein, Bayern program: student housing, youth hostel, workshop assistants: Stefanie Seeholzer, Andreas Schmitt, Andy Westner, Pedro Ferreira brief: Traunstein is a small town with 20 000 inhabitants situated in the southeastern part of Bavaria. It plays very important role in the whole region as an administrative center of Traunstein district. City scale institutions are mixied with small scale countryside housing. What we consider as a positive aspects of the town are incredible views, topography and landscape, the river and its history.

collages of the site

Our „design“ site is situated in the North - West part of Bahnhof area right next to the railway tracks. In the recent history (1950´) it was used as a cargo area belonging to a railway. Within the area there are 8 buildings, mostly used by BAYWA Company - industrial/agro + service. There is one Club - Metropolitan and bicycle shop. The rest of the buildings are empty but well - maintained with high potential. The spaces are inaccessible, unused, usually used as an open air storage. Very nice part of the site is its Landscape - hill with its greenery. Our main impression from the site is the feeling of industry and its historical spirit. Atmospheres of the site: industrial / storage / warehouse / train / shrubbery / livable yards / enclosed school / desert / empty free space / open space / nature / slope / greenery

Urban patent: Describing the space from different perspectives. Looking for the Identity of the space. 1. IMAGE of the space - we created the image in which we implemented the main characters, atmospheres, elements of the existing area. What we consider as something with what we want to work and build the design on. 2. The DNA of the space - we divided the area into 9 smaller parts. We took the main elements of each part and we compared them how they work together and between each other - so we created the - TOOLBOX. 3. ATMOSPHERES - we were looking for the right atmospheres we want to achieve with the site. Working with smaller spaces, mixing the uses, keeping eye on the scale, keeping the memory of space, working with greenery, keeping the views...

The proposal: Creating different spaces and different atmospheres that suit to different kind of people. We‘ve created quarter using simple masses and keeping the old structure conceiving these in-between spaces. Our approach is to be as much as sensitive in terms of scale, heights, atmospheres, places, genius loci, and memory of place, vistas, programs and different users. Creating welcoming, inclusive, sustainable and beloved place. Therefore, we decided to add adapting new volumes to the existing situation and create typical situations. To design typical urban forms such as streets, squares, in-between spaces, yards. Our focus taken from „DNA of space“ urban patent was in creating vivid and livable places made for meeting, gathering, enjoying.

ĽUDIA SÚ PREDNEJŠÍ AKO AUTÁ 2013 location: Schneidera Trnavského Dúbravka Bratislava, SVK program: design for connection collaboration: Jan Urban

brief: How to connect both sides of the main road in the Bratislava’s quarter Dubravka. The road provides car, bus and tram connections with the city center and neighbouring parts of the quarter Dubravka. It is difficult to cross the wide road that divides the quarter into 2 parts, therefore people are forced to use the underpass. The solution is to create long zebra crossing for easy access for people as well as slowing a speed of the cars.
