LLOYD COMPANIES

THREE GENERATIONS OF WOMEN LEADERS

Lloyd Companies has been serving Sioux Falls for 50 years! Craig & Pat Lloyd moved to Sioux Falls in 1972 to help Craig’s uncle manage some apartments. This led to the Lloyd’s partnering with his uncle and then being offered the opportunity to buy him out. Pat says Craig liked to be out in the community while Pat enjoyed taking care of all the business details.

“I loved the job, helping people with their housing needs, and working alongside my husband – he always appreciated me,” Pat said.

Over the years, Lloyd Companies has built a team that is enthusiastic and committed to improving the quality of life in all the communities they serve. Pat made it a priority to lift women up and help them find a role they could excel in. “From inception, I have recognized the value women add to any business.” Christie Ernst, one of Pat’s three daughters, joined the company in 2007 after her mother called and asked her to return to South Dakota to take over, as Pat hoped to retire at some point. Christie was living in Virginia and was unsure about returning to the Midwest, but the pieces for her and her husband to return fell into place. Christie is now the Executive Vice President of Property Management at Lloyd Companies.

“I get to work with a talented team of leaders that provide amazing client experiences for our residential, commercial, and hospitality clients,” Christie shared.

Christies says working with her mom – something she wishes she did more of – has been amazing. She wishes her mom received more credit for the success of the company because she was the main driver behind the scenes. “She has a way of recognizing talents within someone, she advocates for women, and she sees the possibility of something great,” Christie said. Lloyd Companies is built upon a foundation of strong women leaders in an industry that is male-dominated. Ashley Lipp is just one of the female leaders in the company today. Ashley has been with the company for nine years and currently serves as the Vice President of Residential Property Management. She says working for a family-owned business is special because of the extra level of investment they put into their employees. “I attribute a lot of my success to the women who have taken the time to mentor me which includes Pat and Christie,” Ashley said. “I’m proud to be able to build upon the strong foundation that Pat and Christie created with Lloyd Property Management.” Learn more about Lloyd Companies by visiting lloydcompanies.com or contact them at 605-323-2820.
