GREETINGS SISTAHS! As we go into the next quarter of 2022, if you have not accomplished your goals, or are not at the point where you would like to be, you still have time. When you experience roadblocks, remember all things work together for your good. Don’t get weary in well doing, in due season you will reap a harvest. Although it may seem nothing is coming to fruition, your labor is not in vain. The common misconception of Romans 8:28 is that God is working for my benefit so life should be peaches! What this verse is really saying is God is using all things, whether we perceive it to be good or bad, for his ultimate glory. All things. Wrap your mind around that thought for a second. This should give you hope. It means that no matter: - Where I think I should be - Whatever job I think I should have - Whatever relationship I think I should be in - Whatever goal or mark I expect to hit in life - Whatever way I have fallen short - Whatever tragedy or injustice that has entered into my life - Whatever material good I think I should possess but don’t All of it—I have or have not because God is working through me for His good. All things. God’s waiting room is tough place to be. It can be a lonely, confusing and an altogether heartbreaking space. But even in this, God is still GOD. He can see what we can’t, and has purpose in all He carries us through. God will use this for His good purpose. Today we need a reset in thinking from the ground level up. Write a list of the ways you have personally seen God at work in your life. Take time and think of them all! Then hang this list someplace you can easily see it when "life happens" and you need a reminder of God's faithfulness. Go forth SISTAHS, be empowered, be informed and be inspired!

The one thing I am the proudest of in my life is my life. That might sound vain to you, but trust me when I tell you that it’s not what you think it is. I’m not rich, I’m not famous, but I’m blessed. As a single Christian woman, I have not always considered myself blessed. For a long time, I was looking for success and fulfillment in all the wrong places – a man, a job, a title. It took a while until I realized that I already had everything I needed for this season of my life. I had flexibility, opportunities, and a healthy dose of self-esteem. Once I discovered the benefits of being a single woman, my perspective shifted and life felt like a blessing. That’s why today I’m sharing how to enjoy being single no matter your age. Are all single Christian women struggling? I know a lot of you can relate to how I felt before. Because if you have been desiring to be in a relationship for a while, enjoying your singleness can seem hard at times. But the truth is you don’t have to struggle through your single season and can choose joy instead. the trick to how to enjoy being single is to understand that it isn’t an outside circumstance that suddenly makes you feel good about being single.
You have to decide to choose joy amid challenges which will help you be happy as a single Christian woman. And this might sound easier than it seems, but it is true. Of course, as always I don’t want to let you hang by simply telling you to “choose joy”. Instead, I want to provide you with practical steps on how to enjoy being single. 1. Build/ deepen your relationship with God A thriving relationship with Christ will help you prepare for marriage. Because it teaches you that a relationship shouldn’t be performance-based but build on commitment and sacrifice. 2. Live a full life Dare to live a full life! Now as a Single Christian Woman! And if you really like something and feel like that’s something you would enjoy more if you were in a relationship. Great, don’t cross it off your list yet and revisit it once you are in a relationship or married. Don’t make the mistake to wait, when you could be living. Buying a car used to be a no-brainer. You’d buy in the winter or near the end of the year when dealerships were clearing out old inventory and discounting them heavily to make room for new cars.

Today that’s not the case. Inventories are low, prices are high, and the market just isn’t favorable for car buyers.
Will Car Prices go Down Soon? What about Interest Rates?
According to the Consumer Price Index, used car prices have increased 40.5% since last year and cost $28,000 on average while new cars cost an average of $47,000. With the smaller inventories and lack of parts, decreasing prices don’t seem to be on the horizon. Here’s what you should know. What's All This About CHIPS??? Nope, we're not talking about snacks! The car shortage comes down to a shortage of microchips. With microchips being used for many other technologies that were much needed during the pandemic, car manufacturers had to sacrifice. To make up for the issue, they focused on making only higher-end vehicles that earned them a larger profit versus the more affordable cars. This led to a major shortage of affordable cars, shooting their prices up too. So for a new car, many have had to order it and then wait months. For used cars, they've had to hunt until they found one and possibly drive to nearby car lots to buy it. No Negotiations What has blown me away is that there is literally no negotiating going on. Dealerships
The question everyone wants an answer to is ‘will car prices go down soon?’ Unfortunately, the answer is probably not. Inventory levels still aren’t where they were pre-pandemic and many don’t even know if they’ll ever get that high again. With lower inventories comes more demand for a limited supply product which causes prices to remain high. With higher car prices, interest rates can be a grave concern too. If they are too high, it could make buying a car impossible for many. Fortunately, even with the rising rates predicted by the Fed, auto loan rates are predicted to increase as little as 1/3 to 3/4 of a point which makes little difference in your payment. In fact, rates are super low ... like never... ever seen before. So, much like homes, if you pay a little more... your interest is low so it offsets it some. The Smart Way to Choose a Car if you Must Buy Now What if you must buy a car now? Here are some quick tips to make it a smart purchase. Still shop around for a car loan Get pre-approved by lenders and compare your options. Look for the loan with the best terms, which means the lowest total cost including interest and fees. Look at the | 11
bottom line and not just at the interest rate. Definitely TRY to negotiate with your Kelly Blue Book (KBB) Report in hand... let them tell you no. Know what you need and don’t overspend for what you want Did you catch that? Find a car that suits your needs (size, capability, etc.), but don’t get caught up in the new-fangled features you want but can live without. You’ll keep the price down by buying a car with fewer features. Look for dealership deals The kickback deals aren’t as forthcoming as before, but they’re still out there. Shop around and don’t be afraid to even go outside of your area or even state to find the best deal. Also, don't forget about services like Carvana and Car Gurus - they do all the maintenance checks and deliver your vehicle to you.

You Don't Have to Wait Buying a car whether new or used will cost you more right now, but remember the lowinterest rate is going to help. If you want something new or new to you now just do your homework. Get the most attractive financing and shop around for the best deal. There she continued the legacy that she and her sister started, by joining the Drug Treatment Court, which aimed to help people escape a vicious cycle of addiction and crime. Judge Lloyd also implemented Project Fresh Start to help people who practiced the act of prostitution recover from addiction and enjoy healthy, productive lives. Thousands of people
have graduated from these "restorative justice" programs to create stable, happier lifestyles. In the book, Judge Lloyd composed her unique life story in chapters, in which many subtitles were named after Motown Music songs. The memoir begins with the surprise moment of their birth when two baby girls were born, even though the doctor had detected only one heartbeat during Mattie N. Lloyd's pregnancy. At the time, in 1949, when segregation was legal and blatant racism blocked opportunities for Black girls, Leonia and her sister Leona applied their parents' strong family values to excel in education. A short stint as models did not stop their plans to graduate from Wayne State University, then become teachers at nationallyrenowned Cass Technical High School and Redford High School. They attended law school, then opened the Lloyd and Lloyd law firm, which they ran for ten years. Then Leonia went on to run a successful judicial Campaign, under the banner, "Twins for Justice." Two years later Leona ran her successful judicial campaign under the same banner but with a twist, "Twins for Justice … send the other one to the bench," they became America's first identicaltwin district court judges to sit on the same bench at the same time. In the book, Judge Lloyd, who is now retired, shares stories about: •

YOUTH 14-24 WITH A DETROIT ADDRESS CAN NOW APPLY FOR SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT VISIT www.GDYT.org FOR MORE INFORMATION Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) is a city-wide summer job and training program that employs young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 for 120 hours. (generally 20 hours per week for 6 weeks). Youth participants are permanent residents of Detroit and have completed an application and registration process to become eligible along with work readiness training. With the help of Mayor Mike Duggan, as well as Detroit’s philanthropic and corporate leaders, our goal is to match 8,000 Detroit youth with meaningful employment and industry-led training opportunities. BE PREPARED! Please make sure you have these things before getting started: Valid Email Address Social Security Number Emergency Contact Info Annual Household Income HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS Youth Recruitment and Matching – Eligible youth are recruited through educational institutions, community organizations and the city’s workforce development system. Youth are matched to employers based on interest, skill level, and accessibility. Employers who attend a career fair are invited to interview and select candidates; otherwise, GDYT staff will manage the placement process. Workplace Readiness – GDYT youth receive at least 12 hours of work readiness training prior to placement. Youth Support – Participants receive an hourly wage between $10 to $15 per hour or training stipend between $1,200 and $1,800. Youth are supported throughout the summer by a Worksite Monitor, who provides encouragement and advice to ensure a meaningful placement. Participants also receive bus passes to assist with transportation, to and from their site. Employer Support – Every employer will be provided: 1) an Employer Orientation (live or virtual); 2) an Employer Tool Kit; and 3) a Worksite Monitor/Program Liaison. DESC serves as the employer of record and manages the youth payroll process.

The Dual Enrollment program at Lawrence Tech provides juniors and seniors the opportunity to complete their high school diplomas and earn college level credits at the same time. Eligibility To be eligible for the Dual Enrollment program, high school juniors and seniors must have: • a 3.0 or higher GPA in core subjects To Apply There are three steps to submitting an application for dual enrollment. 1. Fill out the on-line application as a “First -Year” student. On the third screen of the application, close to the bottom, there will be this question. “Are you applying to be a non-degree seeking student?” Answer “yes.” And continue. 2. Ask your high school to email your official high school transcripts to Emily Phelan at ephelan@ltu.edu. This can also be sent via Parchment to Lawrence Tech. 3. Submit the Dual Enrollment Supplemental Form. The form will ask for the specific name of the course you want to take and must be signed by your parent or guardian and your principal or guidance counselor. Select a course to take - Students must meet prerequisites for course they are applying to take; course prerequisites are listed in the course catalog descriptions found here - LTU Course Catalog o Search for intended enrollment semester from the drop down o Click on course name to see what prerequisites are required. Many courses require an SAT/ACT score. If you have not had a chance to take that yet, we can have you take a placement assessment to see if you can place into the course. You will take a placement assessment at home on your computer with a web cam and we will proctor via Zoom. o Unsure which course to take? Most students take entry level math or English courses such as precalculus, calculus, basic composition and college composition. Depending on the major you intend to study in college, you could take an entry level course within your major. What's Next? Once all of your documents are received, your eligibility and the necessary prerequisites for your selected course will be confirmed. If everything is in order, you will receive a notice of admission and directions on how to register via the email you supplied in your application. Included in the email will be payment instructions. Lawrence Tech offers its dual enrollment courses at the reduced rate of $500 per course. You should check with your school to see if they have a program to cover this.
