Autumn is upon us and is calling for energies to focus on coziness- what makes you feel cozy? What brings you peace in the Fall season? For our first issue, we wanted to prioritize self-love and cultivate the feeling of Fall- a time for change, renewal, and introspection to step into our highest potential. Find content to help you reclaim your inner goddess, prioritize mental health, and renew your home and wardrobe for Autumn. SISTERHOOD IN SL
A Conversation with Aurora Night
Ayla Zhoy | Writer
An idea that formed in real life has become a reality in Second Life. "I came up with the idea of creating Sisters in SL based on a Facebook status from a female friend who said they found it hard making friends with other females." Aurora Night, founder of Sister's in Second Life (SISL) reveals. She explained that a lot of people commented on that status and they all seemed to agree how difficult it is to connect with other women. After considering reasons why people felt this way, Aurora decided to create a "status" on Facebook asking if women would be interested in forming a group everyone could join and meet up with other women this way.
Going into its fifth month, SISL is over 700 members strong and is one of the fastest growing groups within the Second Life community. "It is important as women to learn from each other. SISL gives us a place to share our experiences and knowledge, which helps us grow," said Aurora. She feels that in the company of other women we quickly realize how similar we are and it proves we are not alone in this challenging journey called life.
"The response was instant and amazing, and I felt that a page needed to be created."
"I admire women who share stories of their trials and tribulations as I feel it is an inspiration to me and other members as well. One of the most fulfilling events that I enjoy is "Girls Talk," where we sit around a campfire sharing a bit of our lives with each other and offering advice when needed."
In RL, she has a girls group on an app called "whatsapp" and they throw in ideas and once a month get together with whomever is available. She felt the same thing could apply to Second Life through a Facebook group page.
Enter SISL Magazine. A couple of the group members approached the management team and suggested that a magazine would be another great platform for SISL, Aurora said she couldn't have agreed more.
Aurora went on to say that within days the group increased dramatically and it drew attention to actually having meetups in-world.
"After brainstorming ideas of our vision for the magazine and deciding on team members we would need in order to begin, we went through an intense interview process and we now have a group of writers and photographers, and a marketing manager."
"I decided this was going to be something bigger than I had imagined, and in April 2019 I created the in-world group, Sister's in Second Life, to help women socialize, form friendships and have fun around the SL grid."
She said there is now a great team of talented women working on the magazine who are all keen to provide this outlet to members who can benefit from the content and it is, of course, exciting to see how the magazine will do over time. "My main goal, Aurora mentions, “is to continue to have a platform that encourages positivity and helps to uplift women." She continued, "I don't want the group to be a sorority, and I don't want to encourage religion or politics because I feel this can, at times, create a divide." Aurora Night wants women from all races, abilities, shapes and sizes to feel that they belong within the SISL group.
"There is so much negativity in the world and I feel that SL should be a place where we can escape that."
When asked what she saw for the future of SISL and the magazine, Aurora said, "I have various other ideas I would like us to achieve, but I will have to let you all wait and see what more is to come!"

“IF WHAT I PROVIDE THROUGH THE CENTER HELPS ONE PERSON IN SECOND LIFE TO SEEK HELP IN THEIR REAL LIFE DOMESTIC SITUATION, THIS IS ALL WORTH IT TO ME.”
—MORGAN WHITFIELD-FIREHAWK
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women worldwide. In the US, every 9 seconds a woman is a victim of domestic abuse. For Morgan WhitfieldFirehawk, this is unacceptable.
“The idea for the center formed from when I was in my second year at the University of Virginia. My anatomy lab partner confided in me that she was a survivor of horrible abuse from her ex-husband for many years.”
A busy woman in SL, Morgan models and is the owner of HEELS, selling and designing high quality shoes to benefit The Care and Hope Center. The Care and Hope Center focuses on helping people understand and overcome domestic violence. Started in March of 2014, it is Morgan’s baby and she protects it and its reputation fiercely.
During that time, Morgan noticed that her partner never looked anyone in the eye, was very quiet, and never volunteered to answer a question. “Her story really had an impact,” Morgan mentioned, “because I could never fathom a person being beaten and treated inhumanely, especially from someone who supposedly loves them. Being in SL, I wanted to do something to spread the message of DV awareness.”
continued
“What better place than SL,” Morgan explains, “where thousands of people from all walks of life and all over the world log in daily. Surely, at least one person can benefit from my message.” With HEELS, Morgan designs and sells shoes and walks the catwalks of the Second Life fashion world. She uses retail as her vehicle of choice to benefit The Care and Hope Center, where she conducts monthly educational meetings. “I created Heels back in October 2017. My intentions were never to be the biggest shoe store in SL but just a way to provide affordable shoes while spreading the message about the Center and DV.”All proceeds from HEELS go solely to the tier for the Center. Morgan often uses her own personal expenses to offset any costs not covered. She doesn’t care about that – it is the message that drives her and all else is the means to an end.

Support with HEELS http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dr eam%20Bay/230/150/24
“I figured that if people notice me in the modeling world through fashion shows, print ads, commercials, and etcetera, they would correlate that to my Center.” Everyone who knows Morgan knows she models for the purpose of supporting her Center and Domestic Violence awareness. Some understand, some think she’s crazy . . but again – if this benefits others in any way it is worth the effort. HEELS participates regularly in the On9, SCALA Yin/Yang, and The Fashion Zone events. Weekly she is part of the $60L Secret Sale and the $55L Thursdays. Morgan has other non-profits in SL that she supports, such as Stop Violence Against Women. She believes in bringing awareness to sexual assault, trafficking and violence toward women who suffer all over the world. Other organizations that draw her attention are Spoonful of Sugar/Doctors Without Borders and Relay for Life Second Life, Team Feed Your Soul. “I do this especially in remembrance of my best friend's RL sister who succumbed to this deadly disease!” That sister was mine - Morgan keeps a remembrance for her at the Center.
Primpwithand Pamper Salon and Spa Noir SOUL | EDITOR
There is something powerful about women who work together to make a difference in our world. In an experience where you could do anything that your heart desires, it speaks of a deep internal motivation to bring a smile to others. I had the pleasure of meeting with Yasuki Noriko Holiday-Ito, owner of the Noir Brand, to chat about her inspirations, her motivations, and what drives her to provide lasting experiences for women across the grid.
Soul: Hey, sis. It’s incredible what you’re doing as a businesswoman in SL and I’ve heard so many good things about Salon Noir. Can you tell me more about it? Yasuki: Of course! Salon Noir started Jan 2019 because I enjoyed roleplay and I felt like there were not a lot of opportunities to engage around me. To contribute to the community, I wanted to make something small. Salon Noir started for myself, to engage in roleplay with sorority sisters and family members. I began my journey with the salon by renting out a small commercial space on a family RP (roleplay) sim. Not longer than a week later, word had spread around the greek SL community about the salon, and it was surprising to find that sorority sisters from all organizations were coming out to get services done. Lots of people started to come by and the business was booming! We moved out of the family RP space after two months, because there were so many people coming that we outgrew the space! I expanded our staff, starting out with my sorority sisters but then opening employment to the greater community. I started the Glam Squad, employees who make sure that everyone feels safe and receives positive interactions in a friendly environment. I try to make the experience like a rl community-based space because the in the real world, the salon is a place that women come to feel empowered. At Salon Noir, men come too for mani-pedis, treatments, and more!
Soul: That’s beautiful- your story is inspiring! I love that you started with a small market, then built from there. It’s solid advice for other women looking to start a small business. You recently moved- can you tell me about the new region Salon Noir is located on? Yasuki: Yes! We moved to Ito Tokai, a region that morphed from a family location to a roleplay experience with likeminded people who wanted to bring RP back to SL. I noticed previously we had to hunt for roleplay experiences, so I wanted a number of things to do to be on one sim. Ito Tokai is a Japanese-inspired region that consists of Salon Noir, Spa Noir, a restaurant, Phat Headz Barbershop, Verse and Vinyl Lounge, and Opium, a private, adult lounge and club. We encourage businesses owners who want to create and uphold quality roleplay experiences to inquire about inclusion in our family of businesses. One special thing about Ito Tokai is that it has a business organization where all of the roleplay business owners meet once a month to fellowship and increase engagement with quality RP experiences. I feel like that's a unique offering- we all help each other to thrive. In other sims, I've noticed there's no interaction among the roleplay businesses represented, so I wanted to make sure we centered cooperation in building quality experiences.
Soul: So not only do you provide for customers, but to business owners that operate on Ito Tokai! The spirit of cooperation is palpable. Shifting gears, tell me- what inspired you to create an experience promoting selfcare? Yasuki: I think from my own experiences of wanting to make SL welcoming, special, and helpful- a true second life. When we log off of the game, women have such special roles in RL jobs, responsibilities, and household- they may not get a chance to focus on themselves in a day. I want to promote love and light through sharing the energy of helpfulness and self-care. Life is hard outside of the computer, so I wanted to provide an escape that would be beneficial for all. One other thing- even when you think what you’re doing is small and no one sees it, you make an impact. A fingernail content creator, Chloe from Alme Nails, approached me when Salon Noir was smaller and wanted to align with us. She added to our nail salon roleplay experience- you can actually pick an Alme nail color and get the applier to place the color you choose onto your nails, at a discounted price from purchasing directly from Alme! We also carry e-marie mesh nails in our salon, but Alme is different. Chloe, the designer, appreciated what we were trying to do by promoting RP with Salon Noir and wanted to make the roleplay more realistic. She wanted to partner in roleplay goals by providing both beautiful nails and an experience where her designs could be actively applied. We both aligned in wanting customers to enjoy the experience of getting their nails done in a salon.
Soul: Collaborations are so dope, and important as women in business thrive when working together. One last question before I let you gowhat are some things you do personally for self-care and how do you tie that into your offerings at Salon and Spa Noir? Yasuki: I personally love working with crystals, use incense and bubble baths, and include in my routine all of the things that I make a part of the salon and spa experience. I get mani-pedis and make sure to take time out for myself, like listening to music and just relaxing. Yoga, meditation, and all the things that make me happy. Shopping, going to the mall- self-care to me is taking time out for myself, and that's what Spa and Salon Noir is all about. Spa Noir has a pool- you can sit with your friends, get affirmations from the wall, book a couple’s massage, and look at beautiful things. Do yoga, meditate, and just relax. The spa is more than just getting a massage. Salon Noir is more than just getting your hair done. It's the experience. We talk to our clients, because that's a part of the roleplay and the experience you’d get at a real life salon. We make sure each and every client has fun and enjoys their experience with us.
Pamper at Spa Noir and Salon Noir Spa Noir is a special place to relax, open from 4pm-6pm Wednesday, 11am-1pm Sundays, SLT. Appointments are required. Salon Noir is a full-service salon, open from 9am-11am Sundays, SLT. Appointments are required, unless there are walk-ins. Salon Noir announces walk-ins on Facebook, and you can book directly through the Facebook page under ‘Appointments’.

INNER GODDESS
5 ways to honor your
Divine Feminine SOUL | EDITOR
The world that we know is changing. Gaia is calling forth a great shift in spirit, awakening all to their true purpose and highest potential to heal and restore balance for the good of our planet.
Because we’ve lead from an assertive, logical, competitive spirit for so long, the Divine Masculine, there’s an energetic pull to reclaim our innate ability to be allowing, sensing, and cooperative, the Divine Feminine. The Divine Feminine is a healing, sensual, renewing energy that exists within all gender expressions, teaching us that it is okay to just ‘be.’ Creating and maintaining balance of the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine in our own energetic fields results in a collective shift toward compassion and peace for self and All. During this monumental energy shift, you may be feeling called to reconnect to your intuition, empathy, and natural ability to feel the vibration of All in a deep and impactful way. But how do you restore energetic peace for yourself? Here’s five actionable ways to embrace your Divine Feminine and reclaim balance in your daily life.
Be Mindful Mindfulness involves understanding how each moment, each breath, and each movement works together harmoniously to create and maintain balance. Examine each breath that you take, expanding your belly on each inbreath, deflating it with each out-breath. Incorporate meditation to find peace in times where you could use a bit of stillness. Find times to be still and reflective in your active daily routine, taking in the emotion of each action and augmenting it when the action brings imbalance.
Be Allowing In this patriarchal society, we’re taught to assert- to go after what we want, to press for that raise, to use persuasion and competition to achieve more and better than the next. Instead of leading with this energy, try to open yourself to all potentials and possibilities. Embracing the most feminine parts of yourself means being open and accepting of all the abundance that you are worthy of. For example, if you’re on the hunt for a new job that will bring you joy and comfort, set the intention to get a job that will fulfill your needs, do a direct action toward improving yourself or chance to get that job (studying for the new position, reaching out to contacts in the field, etc), then allow yourself to get it. See yourself there and be open to all paths and potentials that may lead you to your manifestation. Being allowing is a practice that will help you move to acceptance of your Divine Feminine in a practical way, and help strengthen your inherent power of manifestation.
Be Creative The part of us that longs to create- to express emotionally using tools such as music, art, theater, and more- most times lay dormant within us, making way for the daily grind. Finding times throughout your week to embrace your creativity or enjoy the creativity of others without lingering feelings of ‘I should be doing something more productive’ allows you to open your Higher Self up to free expression. Set a 21-day habit toward embracing your creativity in something that brings you joy and peace. Take a painting or drawing class, visit a museum, or enjoy the beauty and creativity of nature. Building a relationship with the inner voice that drives you to express, share, and create will help strengthen your ability to naturally allow yourself to ‘be.’
Be Sensual When we hear the word sensual, often times we equate it to sex, and being sexy for the benefit of someone else. While we can practice sensuality within sexual engagements, being sensual involves diving into your own senses and enjoying each for the feeling, emotion, or sentiment produced. Deeply smelling a rose allows you to engage in your sense of smell and take in the energy and beauty that the rose intends to share. Eating your favorite food slowly, taking in the texture, taste, smell, and emotion produced when you consume it is also a sensual act that will help you to reconnect to the essence of All. Being sensual with yourself physically is another way to tap into your Divine Feminine. Feel your curves and physical body, running your hands along your frame with the intention of sharing love with the deepest parts of yourself. Tell yourself how much you love You, and how beautiful You are. Masturbate, and enjoy the emotions and sensations that only you can give yourself through appreciating all that makes you unique and beautiful. Dance in the mirror, run through the grass barefoot, and engage in a deep belly laugh. Connecting with your senses and being in tune with the magic of you frees you from the feeling that you have to be anything other than who you are, a principle of the Divine Feminine.
Be Free What does it mean to be free in a self-created world of rules, restrictions, order, and enforcement? Being exactly who you are without restricting your expression of emotion or allowing others to place restrictions on you to ‘fit in.’ You are worthy of being free from comparing your body, your image, your clothes, and your way of life against another woman, because we are all unique and express in our own way. You are who you are, and that person is amazing! Being free to share this person and feeling good inside about who you are is one of the best ways to manifest your Divine Feminine. The more we practice engaging and relating to our Divine Feminine personally, the more we collectively move toward a more open and accepting future- one that embraces all for their differences, works cooperatively towards achieving, and sets to re-balance energies to heal Mother Earth. Celebrate all that makes you feminine and you’ll honor your Divine Feminine, reclaiming your inner Goddess.

It’s officially sweater weather, pumpkin spice latte season, and all you can handle pumpkin and autumn-themed and scented goodies at Bath and Body Works in RL, and our fav home decor stores in SL! Oh, and who can forget—cuffing season! Whether you’re actively looking for your boo or currently boo’d up, there are complexities that come with love. Hopefully I can help you ladies navigate this season of new love more confidently! So, let’s get into it!
Always the girl who got away
Dear ATGWGA,
Financial stability is important in I was on a date recently and relationships; because it means the question came up about balance and equality, but Rome “why did you break up with wasn’t built in a day. If you find your ex?” My answer was yourself dating someone that “financial stability.” doesn’t exactly meet your 1 standard but you click with them Immediately, I was labeled as on many different levels, it can the woman who wants a man be worthwhile to invest in them for money, when in fact I was and help them manifest to their asking for a partner who I can fullest potential. I’m sure if the build with together. I tried to roles were reversed, you’d explain this and it fell on deaf appreciate the same. But, be in ears... is it wrong to have tune with who is worthy of that financial stability as a deal investment. Be sure to pay breaker? Should we just be with attention to any red flags that someone solely for love? don’t support what you both as a partnership are trying to build.

Master Debater I really love to masturbate. I mean, a lot. I love my flower- it's been my best friend for a long time. Unfortunately, my love of masturbation makes my husband feel like he's not doing enough to please me when he totally is. Since I'm not going to stop masturbating, what can I do to make my husband feel like he's 'putting it down' while still enjoying my own self-love? Dear Master Debater, This can be a bit tricky. The ego is quite the fragile thing. So here’s what I think:
1. If your husband is indeed satisfying you then there should be no need to “make him feel like he’s putting it down,” right? If it’s been a topic that’s been brought up then maybe it’s gonna take some sexy affirmations to help encourage and reassure him. 2. If you haven’t done so already, self-love on yo’self in the heat of y’all doing the do. It’s hot and I’m sure he’ll really appreciate it. And if all else fails: communication. Have a lil’ pillow talk about what turns you on or drives you wild that he does, and vice versa. It will break ground for some great open convo on y’alls wants and needs as a couple.
Jae's Jambalaya Hey y’all, it’s Jae! I’m so excited to share with you BeYou, a roleplay hud system that enlivens your SL family roleplay. If you’re a family roleplayer, you’ll love it! BeYou makes my family RP more fun and interactive, and I love helping those new to BeYou dive in. In this column, I’ll share tips and tricks, recipes, and advice to enhance your BeYou and family roleplay experience.
Learn Your Stats
Getting Started Ready to get started? To get started with BeYou, you can use a BeYou kiosk or go to the BeYou region. It’s best to go to an individual market so you won’t get lost in all the things BeYou has to offer! Most individual markets have a kiosk and hudsome of my favorites are below, so be sure to stop by and check them out! Once you get to the location of your choice, find the BeYou sign to get a hud. Click the sign to get the hud, which will fall into your 'Objects' folder. I’d suggest that you make a beyou folder to make your life easier- you’ll be collecting a lot of stuff! When you put the hud on, you'll notice every stat at 99%, or 0%. If you had BeYou before, you may be 'dead', but don't be alarmed as you can raise your stats.
My Fav BeYou Markets Kings Domain Grocery Jackson's Supermarket Giggity's Grocery The Pantry
Registering in the BeYou System Next, go to https://beyouworld.com/me and fill in your profile. Complete the registration process, being sure to use ‘Resident’ as your last name if you don't have a legacy last name. You can't use your display name, as the BeYou system doesn't recognize you! When registering, it’s important that you use a real email address- updating your password will not work if you haven’t provided a valid email! I created a SL-flavored Gmail for this purpose. After you are registered, log into the BeYou system website using your new username and password and look around. It provides all of your stats, BeYou info, and more! Check out 'hud' 'meter' and 'help'- ‘hud’ gives you a meter that appears over your head. The meter is important when you first start the game, and I’ll tell you why. Most times, people that don't wear it keep low stats, because they don't look at it in the hud. When you have that meter over your head and see the numbers moving, you will pay better attention to your stats! Wear the meter- you’ll thank me later!
After you get your meter on, fight the urge to shop! The first thing everyone wants to do is go shopping- I think I dropped 5K on groceries before I knew better. So before you go in a grocery store and go crazy, pause for the cause! To get started with nourishing yourself, you not only need to get recipes, you need to understand your stats! Certain ingredients are for certain recipes, and food and cooking help to increase your stats. Here’s a quick breakdown of your stats and some tips on understanding what affects them. Mana: spiritual wellness (usually stays in the upper range) Wellness: eating- whatever you consume as a food Energy: affected by working and doing things (cooking, planting, etc) Hygiene: taking care of body (washing, using the bathroom) Mood: energy, dedication, and hygiene affects moodif your energy is high, those are high. Mana and mood work together, too! Reputation: how well you take care of yourself in BeYou (hygiene, chores- are you working? are you clean?) Dedication: how often you're engaging in BeYou activities Social: being around other folks who use BeYou, interacting with the meter. You can also click the little guy to interact with others!
Starting BeYou on a Budget There’s no doubt about it- starting BeYou takes an L investment. If you want to maintain your fun on a budget, here’s some tips! Buy a well or water hose- you’ll need it to maintain your bathroom, cooking, and more Have someone place their furniture in your home (or visit a free bathroom and shower in BeYou locations) Eat at a BeYou restaurant or grocery store to gain wellness points Hunt for almost expired food as consumables (you can get crates of apples and other veggies, cheaper!) You can live off of purchased meals and fruits and veggies- spend wisely Only put your hud on when you're doing BeYouWith food, fill yourself up so that you won't have to eat often Try to buy everything from other players- it’s less expensive!
Tips to manage your BeYou stats -One item affects the other -If you stink, your rep will go down, your energy and mood will go down -There's a cycle for every stat, so pay attention! -For wellness, food can be cooked on your own or you can buy it -Make sure that when you purchase items to renew your stats, you stay in the store to receive
