Welcome to Sitka
A Place to Nurture Your Creative Spirit Nestled in a grove of Sitka spruce trees and with the Pacific Ocean in view, the Sitka Center is a pristine, tranquil environment enticing folks to relax, breathe and nourish their creative side. From May to November, we offer more than 100 workshops, spanning 16 different subject areas related to art and ecology such as painting, drawing, woodcarving, photography, writing, mushroom hunting and many more. Whether you’re taking a workshop inside the studio or outside in nature, you’ll be struck by the surrounding natural world. It’s gorgeous here! In addition to your workshop, you may choose to hike the Cascade Head trail seeing delicate, unfurling Lady Fern fronds, a forest understory splashed with dense, bright green moss, and long, slender grasses that dance in the wind. Or, you may choose to sit on a bench outside quietly writing or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere. However you choose to shape your Sitka experience, we’ll do our best to make it extraordinary. We invite you to flip through these pages and find the workshops that excite you. Stretch yourself to learn a completely new skill, challenge yourself to practice a new technique in an area you already know or step outside your comfort zone by diving into a workshop that gives you butterflies of excitement in your belly! Have fun choosing and we’ll see you at Sitka, -The Sitka Center Board and Staff
