playful. elevated. whimsy.
Based on the feeling of wanting time to freeze when one is most content, The Liddell centers its concept around the idea of escapism . Defined as being the tendency to seek relief from reality, escapism is experienced in many personal ways . Whether it be through leisure, fantasy, isolation, or pleasure , The Liddell can accommodate all who come.
Drawing inspiration from the beloved Lewis Carroll series Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, The Liddell reflects the imaginative settings, peculiar storyline, and rich character profiles as a driving force behind the design of the interior spaces. Wholly unique, The Liddell transports guests to a surrealistic place, both physically and in their minds.
Andy is eagerly anticipating his stay at The Liddell. Hoping to find both a quiet area to conduct important work, as well as a more casual spot to conduct simple business, he is likely to stay at the hotel most of the day and night. All work and no play would make for a forgettable stay, so Andy will be making wise use of the hotel’s bustling cafe lounge and adjacent conferencing room.
Sophia and her Maid of Honor are looking forward to staying at The Liddell. They are longing to have a relaxing stay that allows not only for some social interaction, but also tranquil alone time. A full day of pampering that includes massages, manicures, and champagne is exactly what these two friends will find at the hotel’s salon and spa
In charge of planning his brother’s birthday getaway, Michael is excited about their stay at The Liddell. They are hoping to let loose and have some classic Big Easy fun. By making full use of the rooftop bar, private lounge, and outdoor games, the boys will make sure to make this trip one for the books.
Zoe and her family are eagerly awaiting their stay at The Liddell. She is seeking to have a leisurebasesd vacation that is stress free and family-friendly. The hotel’s in-house restaurant and bar will provide the parents with the relaxed nightlife they desire, while the children are engaged by the table side games and exciting atmosphere.
white gl ove tea room
The Liddell lobby is the intersection between outdoors, reality, and indoors, the rabbit hole into the fantastical spaces with a mixture of classic and traditional architectural details which date back to 1865, when the novel was written; juxtaposed with a look of sleek timelessness. This gathering point serves as a central place where the various spaces collide
The eclectic mix of metals, fluted columns rising two stories, and an elaborate cove elevator enclosure grabs the guest’s attention in a positive way. A custom reception desk with keys lining the back wall and framed eclectic art creates a sophisticated ambiance that continues throughout the hotel.
Influenced by the Mad Hatter’s characteristics, the in-house restaurant, 10/6, offers each guest the opportunity to get in touch with their eccentric inner self. Whimsical material patterns and expressive art overlay to serve as a foundation for serving culinary delicacies and cocktails. With opportunities for board game play, informal conversation, and witty banter, 10/6 invites guests to the lively table of the Mad Hatter.
Bar 19 I The LiddellInspired by daydreaming and the iconic tea party imagery, White Glove Tea Room offers guests a perfect place to be imaginative and come up with some of their best ideas. The whimsical combination of finishes and refreshing colors provides a playful, rejuvenating space perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up. This is accomplished through the floor to ceiling windows, decorative tile, and intricate details featured on the custom counter and columns.
Apropos to Alice’s whimsical and curious character, The Bird & Bloom (Salon & Spa) promotes serene solitude by providing an outlet for users to escape to a world of their own. Shades of blue and elevated architectural details enhance elegance while also paying homage to Alice’s simplified beauty

In reflectance of the overall idea of imagination, the guest rooms at The Liddell are a place for guests to escape through imagination. In contrast to typical guest rooms, rich, dark tones and bold graphics transport guests into a world of fantasy. A custom alcove situated in to the wall with built-in storage creates an intentional feeling of safety and comfort. Much like Alice was transported down the rabbit hole to a world that was not her own, the guest rooms at The Liddell encourage a journey into imagination and inspiration
Rendered Floor Plan
The Residences at The Liddell are inspired by the timeless elegance of the illustrations found in the original book “Alice Through the Looking Glass”. The elements found in the space enhance the alternate realities that minds can create when reading a book. Neutral tones along with traditional architectural details provide better social competence while also offering a “blank canvas” for occupants to express themselves
In reflection of the Queen of Hearts, the enigmatic monarch and antagonist in the novel, guests are encouraged to get in-touch with their guilty pleasures at Duchess Rooftop Lounge. Spaces meant for community will provide guests the opportunity to let loose. Along the journey, more intimate nooks comfortably envelope guests, encouraging the slow passage of time. Mixtures of metals and an enclosed glass ceiling creates a dynamic space. Contrasting tones of red and black weave throughout the spaces, battling for dominance in “a blind fury”

Both the name and design of Terrene are inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle principle of Hygge. This tried-andtrue concept refers to the feeling of being content within the present moment. The interior space plan of Terrene emphasizes areas where residents may retreat to and experience their Hygge either privately, with fellow residents, or with their visitors. Taking inspiration from Scandinavian design principles, Terrene heavily emphasizes curvilinear and bending forms, interior finishes that mimic the natural world, and the implementation of daylighting.
Spatial layout features four core areas of socialization that are intentionally placed to promote connection and impromptu conversation. Clear wayfinding path and close adjacency to medical staff
Combines the charm of residential living with the safety and amenities of assisted living. Rounded corners and curvilinear furniture selections are utilized to protect residents from injury

The first subway in America was built in Boston, paving the way for the city to become a source of innovation and inspiration . Subway rides display the culture of a city, including fashion, spirit , and interests , all while celebrating human connection. The industrial nature of a subway car and station is translated into the space, immersing the occupants into an exciting and innovative space.
Brick, arches , and yellow wayfinding floor features mimics the subway . Semi-exposed ceilings and concrete LVT flooring is used to create the desired industrial feel in space. Bold, rich colors are implemented to visually show the diversity and ideas seen in a subway while promoting NEXT’s branding. Vibrant murals and wallcoverings are used to drive the concept and provide visual interest to employees.
The simple, yet effective tagline “everyday robotics” reminds consumers of NEXT’s primary goal, helping their consumers by designing robotics. The variation of colors seen in the branding represents the diversity and the inclusivity that NEXT celebrates on a daily basis, both within their company and in their community.

This creates a sense of meaning in the workplace. Creating a sense of community amongst employees will allow them to work towards the same goal.
Offices should seek furniture that is adjustable, adaptable, and movable to cater to employees of all abilities. Employees desire more control over where, when, and how they work. Allowing opportunities of different ways to work will increase productivity.
Solution: design welcoming environments with encouraging and visible wayfinding and company branding. Create spaces where employees can socialize and build relationships while at work.
Balancing the 4 key space types: personal, collaboration, learning, and social will allow for more productivity. Supporting both in-office and remote workers equally will lead to more focus, collaboration, and better relationships amongst employees.
Solution: provide various arrangements of furniture for employees to choose from instead of just their assigned desk. Provide flexible furniture that can easily be adjusted throughout the day, such as sit-to-stand desks and different postures throughout.
A workplace will be more successful if employees feel inspired and creative. Creating spaces that allow for this both individually and in group settings will create a sense of community and lift spirits.
Solution: provide various adaptable spaces that have mobile furniture, power, appropriate technology, and space division. Provide both collaboration and focus spaces within office with various furniture layouts at different postures.

The Aviary is an LED lamp inspired by a bird cage. Unlike a traditional bird cage, the Aviary confines nothing, but allows for light to escape freely. The element of line plays a vital role in the design, as every element is in a linear shape. This brings a modern appeal to the lamp. The neutral material selection allows for the light emitting from the top of the lamp to be the main focus.
