Letter from Sedro-Woolley Mayor Julia Johnson:
Allow
me to be the first to welcome you to Sedro-Woolley, Gateway City to the North Cascades.
Sedro-Woolley is known as an innovative and progressive city, achieving success in technology while maintaining our small-town Americana feel. Renowned for its festivals that occur throughout the year, we celebrate our history in events such as Woodfest, Blast from the Past, LoggerodeoTM, Founder’s Day and the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. anks to the vision put into place by former City Council, Skagit Trail Builders, and the talent of our Parks Department, there are several trails, playfields, and parks to enjoy in Sedro-Woolley. Currently we’re nearing completion of renovations to one of our oldest parks, Memorial Park, which now boasts a spray feature for children to enjoy during the warm days. In addition, we have accomplished the first phase of Olmsted Park, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024. is spacious 17-acre park is located near the SWIFT Center and will welcome many visitors soon. Not to be overlooked, our beautiful and celebrated Riverfront Park hosts a variety of events from class reunions, Summer Concert Series, family BBQs, and gatherings for friends. In addition, Tesarik and Winner Houser Play Fields are two of many play fields that get great use by little league, soft ball, pee-wee football, and soccer teams both local and from other communities.
Sedro-Woolley is experiencing new growth and development city-wide. Our downtown business district has welcomed new stores and restaurants, as well as a superb library. We celebrate this growth, but also honor those businesses that have spanned generations; Rothenbuhlers, Stiles Law, Oliver and Hammers, and Janicki Industry, just to name a few; all have served our community well and continue to do so.
Sedro-Woolley is a great place to live, and a wonderful city that enjoys sharing our heritage with visitors. We have maintained that hometown feel and community spirit, and that is probably experienced more during LoggerodeoTM than any other event and is the longest running celebration in the State of Washington. From the chainsaw carving, log show, and carnival to the parade and climatic fireworks, LoggerodeoTM provides something for everyone.
I am honored to have this opportunity to serve as Sedro-Woolley’s Mayor. ere is much to be proud of and celebrate. I welcome you all to join us, and I hope to see you around town or at one of our city events.
Julia M. Johnson, Mayor of Sedro-WoolleyLetter from Chamber Director Monique Brigham:
Welcome to Sedro-Woolley, the Gateway to the North Cascades.
e lively community of Sedro-Woolley is an incredible place to be. Everywhere you go, you’re warmly welcomed. Business owners wave and locals greet each other with a smile - it truly is a wonderful sense of community. I’m in the heart of all these exciting happenings in town: From Blast from the Past, with the American Legion Show and Shine car show, new shops opening up, e Woolley Market Building has some things in the works, e Tap Room turning into Barley & Brew, as well as new businesses popping up every here and there such as Mesitzo’s coming back to town! It’s all so amazing! All these additions will make our downtown even better than before! I’m super excited about what comes next.
I am so proud to take on the challenge as the Executive Director of the Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce; it’s a rewarding job and although we miss our beloved Pola Kelley, we are doing our best to honor her while growing the Chamber. We are also re-naming the Holland Drug Park Pola’s Promenade and will make sure to really light it up this Christmas during our Old-Fashioned Country Christmas. If you haven’t made it to our Lighted Christmas Parade in the past, you really should put it on your calendar for this December 2nd!
