Full-time freelancing is not a dream job Many people consider freelancing as the best way to earn money. Its independent, you don’t have bosses to order you around and you set your own schedules. However, all these benefits have flipsides too. Following are the six factors that make freelancing so attractive and at the same time repellant as well. Hence, choose to freelance only after you’ve read this. 1. Creating your own schedule People think that being a full time freelancer means that they would have complete authority over when they wake up, sleep, work and play. However, this is hardly ever true. If you want to maintain a good relationship with your employees, you would have to stay in touch with them all the time. Anytime that they would want to know the status of their job, they will expect you to answer their calls. 2. Working independently Even though you are not dealing with the annoying co-workers all the time, things can get a little lonely at times. Hence, you will be required to socialize with all non-work friends. However, most of these people also have usual work routines, which is why you will need to align your work with their work routine so you can meet up with them when they are free. 3. Being productive pays more As a freelancer, you are paid for each assignment that you take and not for the time that you work. Hence, if you finish more assignments, you make more dollars per hour. However, what you fail to realize is the number of hours that you are not productive at work. Hence, working as a freelancer, try to charge your clients also considering those inactive number of hours. 4. Being your own boss Being your own boss is merely a myth. Whatever the title be, whether it be manager, senior manager, CEO, or client; your boss is the person paying you for the work that you do. If you are a freelancer, every client that you have committed to, is your boss. Hence, if you’re working a 9-5 job, you’ll comparatively be answerable to only two people, while if you are freelancing, you are answerable to all your clients.

5. Negotiate on your payment This sounds really exciting. You get to decide how much you want for your work. However, the routine can get hectic. You will have to quarrel over the payment each time you talk to your customers. You will have to allow discounts at times too. As compared to a 9-5 job, you only have to receive a paycheck at the end of the month. 6. You get to do a wide-variety of work One would think that being a full time freelancer would allow them to get diverse nature of working; which is actually true. For example, if you are a freelance writer, you might have to work on medicine, mathematics, physics and arts all at the same time. However, you will have to research over those diverse topics every time you are about to write; which will get difficult if you are working on tight deadlines. On the other hand, successful freelancers would always advice you to stick to a certain niche for a faster growth in your career.
