1. The Bunker brothers The two Siamese twins, Chang and Eng were residents from Siam which is the modern day Thailand. They became famous when in 1839; they conquered 110 acres from the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. They then settled down in the area and married sisters after which they built a farm with slave labor. They also became dedicated confederates. When General Stoneman conquered the area, he wanted to recruit some men for himself. Eng’s name was selected through a random draw, but he could not switch considering that, he was bound to his brother with a kidney.

According to her family lore, one of her ancestors used the device to smuggle messages and secret information. The museum officials were surprised to see the device and the woman was more than happy to donate it to the museum.

3. The Chicken In 1862, a farmer from Virginia gave Robert Lee a flock of chickens. All were eaten by General Bell Hood’s men except for one which would roost in a tree over General Lee’s tent. 4. Glowing wounds After the Shiloh Battle in 1862, the soldiers observed a strange phenomenon of glow in the dark wounds. Over 16,000 army men from both the sides were wounded in the battle and doctors from neither side were prepared for the brutal results. Soldiers lay in the rain wounded and hurt for two days. Meanwhile, many of them noticed that their wounds had started to glow in the dark. In fact, the ones who noticed glowing wounds were healing better than the others. In 2001, the mystery was solved by two teenagers from Maryland. They figured out that the wounds became hypothermic and the lowered body temperatures were perfect for the residence and growth of Bioluminescent bacteria. These also enabled better antigen activity, resulting in better healing.
