Women’s Rights: Still a Long Way to Go! Latest trends of women empowerment have highlighted several eminent issues of women. Though the liberation of women’s right in modern times seems easy, there are millions of women that are struggling just to live in many parts of the world. In spite of the fact that the international movements of women's rights have made greater strides over several years, girls and women are still treated lesser than men. They are trafficked into sex slavery of forced labor. They are not given proper access to politics or education. They are treated as objects Nearly millions of unborn babies are aborted each year because of being a female sex. Women are subjected to violence globally. According to the London School of Hygiene and Medicine, one in every three women experiences violence in her lifetime. The report also states that 38 percent of the murdered women are killed in relationships. Mainly, the suffering women are familiar by their abuser. Statistically reported in 2012, 92 percent women experienced sexual harassment and violence in public locations. The tradition of early marriages of young girls causes abundant problems. Though several campaigns have been conducted in this regard, almost 250 million women were reported to be married before the age of 15. The scenarios happen mainly in rural regions where the young girls on reaching puberty are considered for marriage by their family members. Early marriages cause child birth at a very young age which eventually leads to health problems. The additional aspect of violence by their partners causes women to suffer further in their lives. They are not able to take care of themselves 80 percent of the time that leads to genital problems or in extreme cases, deaths. Since centuries, women have been responsible for the domestic work. The household chores require more time and effort. The dilemma of the situation is that the women does not get paid and generally works more than men. Even in situations where women work, they are mostly underpaid. It is extremely difficult for women to secure managerial level positions in the work place. Even if they do, several of these women still have to carry the responsibility of their household. According to a published report, 47 percent of the women were employed in the year of 2014. It is highly unfortunate that there are laws in several countries that restrict women from availing the rights of working. There are at least 18 countries that have given working rights of women to their husbands.
Even with numerous limitations, women are making their mark in nearly every field. From taking care of household chores to travelling the moon, women are striving to reach the equilibrium level with the opposite gender. However, majority of the women are still fighting for basic human rights of love, livelihood and living.
