Smith MAG™ proprietary technology enables you to quickly adapt to varying light conditions with the confidence of lens security. The next generation of Smith interchangeability has arrived.
DUAL LOCKING MECHANISMS Once in position the lens carrier provides a patent-pending dual locking mechanical engagement to secure the lens. With the I/O MAG’s two locking mechanisms, the lens stays locked tight for whatever the hill throws at you. A simple push of one lever at either side of the lens releases the lens for easy swapping as the light and conditions change.
7 MAGNETIC CONTACT POINTS Strong and weatherproof N52 magnets automatically guide the lens into the anchored position. The magnetic function speeds up lens changes to get you back out riding faster.
CONSIDERED DESIGN Plastic grips are carefully considered and designed at the corners of the lens for easy interchangeability while protecting the surface of the lens.

The I/O MAG™, utilizing the Smith MAG™ interchangeable system, is designed for optimized performance and perfected fit: two locking mechanisms for lens security, AirEvac™ ventilation for fog-free integration with Smith helmets, and a frame designed for contoured face fit. All this technology is designed around one of Smith’s largest spherical lenses, providing a maximized field of view and 5X™ anti-fog technology. The I/O MAG™ was designed through a process of reducing elements to only the most essential, so there’s nothing getting in the way of a great day on the mountain.

Spherical lenses are built on a base curve in both the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axis. Smith’s spherical lenses are offered exclusively in carbonic-x material with TLT Optics and a base 6x4 toric shape. This pioneering shape provides the highest level of optical clarity, improved fit characteristics and increased volume, improving fog performance.
Cylindrical lenses are built on a base curve only in the X (horizontal) axis. Smith’s cylindrical lenses are offered in carbonic-x material with and without TLT optics and a base 6 curve. Providing Class 1 optical standards and optimum fit characteristics.
Smith’s Tapered Lens Technology straightens out the incoming light rays by progressively tapering the lens from the optical center toward the peripheral view. What this means for you is that you see with 100% accuracy and maximum comfort.

Smith’s carbonic-x outer lens material is individually molded to offer optimum scratch and impact resistance. The carbonic-x material meets Class 1 optical standards. There is simply no better lens.
Our Fog-X lens treatment employs a hydrophilic, micro-etched surface to absorb moisture and disperse it over a wide surface area to prevent fogging. Because it is physically carved into the lens, it can’t be wiped away like other anti-fog coatings.
A durable coating bonded to all mirrored lenses that repels moisture, grease and grime. A barrier between your lenses and the world. Water will bead up and disperse without streaking. Smudges from fingerprints are wiped clean easily.
5X™ ANTI-FOG The most advanced anti-fog lens ever created. Building upon the hydrophilic, micro-etched surface area principles of our Fog-X lenses, our revolutionary, 5X™ antifog inner lens has been engineered to provide over five times the absorptive properties of anything on the market. Initial testing showed standard anti-fog lenses fogging between 30-50 seconds. Smith’s proprietary, 5X™ antifog treatment withstood fogging for over 120 seconds in controlled lab tests.

FINALLY, PROTECTION AS PROGRESSIVE AS YOU ARE. Koroyd® provides superior impact absorption, design flexibility, and ventilation when compared to materials traditionally used in helmet construction. By utilizing crumple-zone cylinders that crush uniformly on impact, Koroyd® manages energy more efficiently with less volume than any other protection material on the market. Unlike traditional protection materials, Koroyd® cylinders absorb and convert more kinetic energy, while increasing air flow and reducing overall weight. Not all helmets are created equal.
Developed as an energy absorber in the aerospace industry, cylindrical structures were found to be one of nature’s strongest forms; a form that could offer the greatest impact absorbtion for a given length. Koroyd® utilizes cylinders to create a structure that behaves differently than traditional protection materials. Traditional materials act like a spring which stores energy and then releases it, Koroyd® is a true energy absorber which converts the kinetic energy by crumpling. This translates into better absorption of impact energy. ENGINEERED ABSORPTION The combination of Koroyd’s® precise and unique thermal welding process leads to a structure with both extremely e�icient and consistent energy absorption properties. Upon impact, the cores crush in a completely controlled manner, decelerating the energy from the impact and reducing the final trauma levels. ENGINEERED PROTECTION Thousands of co-polymer extruded tubes, thermally welded to create an unparalleled consistent and fully engineered core. Each Koroyd® section is engineered to precise durometer, size, and thickness specifications to provide the greatest impact resistance. FULL BREATHABILITY Koroyd® is an energy absorber which is fully breathable and doesn’t compromise impact performance. Koroyd’s® open cell construction allows cool air in, while expelling hot air from the rider's head. The completely open cell construction integrates with internal channels to create the full Aerocore™ construction to provide ventilated protection.
MIPS® technology MULTI-DIRECTIONAL IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM In a helmet with MIPS® Brain Protection System (BPS) the shell and the liner are separated by a Low Friction Layer. When a helmet with MIPS® Brain Protection System is subjected to an angled impact, the low friction layer allows the helmet to slide relative to the head. The MIPS® BPS is designed to add protection in helmets against the rotational motion. The rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces (from angular acceleration) that both affects the brain and increases the risk for minor and severe brain injuries. MIPS® BPS has been scientifically proven to reduce rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing and redirecting rotational energies and forces transferred to the brain.
THE GREAT MISCONCEPTION Accident statistics show that many injuries occur due to angled impact to the head. However, in standard helmet tests the helmet is dropped vertically onto a flat surface. The results are helpful for measuring precise vertical impacts, but inferior for measuring the more realistic scenario of an angled impact. MIPS® has been developed for reality and increases protection against angled impacts.
MIPS® IN ACTION When you fall to the ground at an angle rotational forces are generated. A helmet integrating MIPS® technology creates a sliding layer between the outer shell and the head. This allows the helmet's outer shell to slide relative to the head when hitting the ground, so the rotational force is decreased, reducing the potential to damage your brain.

Ultimate Integration

Ultimate integration starts with the precise fit of the Smith goggle and helmet. Our helmets are designed to match the curvature of the goggle frame, eliminating “gaper gap” and allowing precise alignment between the helmet AirEvac™ and the goggle venting systems.
Goggles fog when standard helmets trap warm, moist air in the goggle chamber. Smith’s AirEvac™ ventilation systems generate maximum airflow that pulls warm, fog-causing air out of the goggle. The warm air is allowed to exhaust out of the top of the goggle and begin its path through the helmet’s AirEvac™ system.
The warm air that originally built up in the goggle has been forced out via the AirEvac™ ventilation system, has traveled through the AirEvac™ EPS vent channels, and is now being exhausted at the furthest distance possible from the goggle.
