In 1979 we introduced our first line of sunglasses for people who lived life outside walls, “Do it your way…but see it our way.” We celebrate our history by re-introducing sunglasses from our past. Smith has a patent pending lens cut that has revolutionized eyeshield technology. The FreeFloat™ lens cut consists of slots cut into the lens blank near the frame and lens attachment points isolating them from the critical area of the lens. By doing this, pressure induced stress that typically transfers from the frame into the lens no longer has an effect on the geometry of the critical optical area of the eyewear. In the same way the FreeFloat™ lens technology isolates frame-induced stress from reaching the lens, it inversely reduces any stress imposed on the lens from reaching the frame.

LENS CONSTRUCTION TO OPTIMIZE PERFORMANCE ChromaPop™, Techlite glass and Carbonic lens constructions are optimized to provide a variety of optical and impact-resistant benefits. We precisely align the finest polarized filters and finish our lenses with multi-layer mirror, Anti-Reflective (A/R), anti-scratch, and Hydroleophobic lens coatings. The end result is an artfully crafted lens that preserves color perception and delivers optimized optical clarity and precision in all environments.

SMITH POLARIZATION Polarization cuts glare. Glare off of horizontal surfaces like snow, water, and asphalt, decreases depth perception, and reduces visual acuity which causes eye fatigue. We precisely align the polarized visual layer inside our lenses to filter out 99.9% of this “visual static” for a finely tuned view of the action.

TLT (TAPERED LENS TECHNOLOGY) When light passes through a medium it refracts, i.e. changes course. If left uncorrected, this refraction can cause visual distortion and eye fatigue.
