Thomas Griffin, a graduate men’s hairstylist at Nashwhite in Warwick, already has a loyal following of male clients and as a member of the Fellowship Project: Men team, he hopes to grow this even further. Here are his top tips for encouraging loyalty among male clients and getting them to spend more.

1 OFFER PACKAGES

Offering a package for your clients is a great way to up-sell to an additional service. Bundling together a gents cut and beard maintenance is an example of how you can lure the client into the additional service without it costing them the world.

2 HAVE A VISIBLE MENU

Whether the service menu is on your website, social channels or in the salon/barbershop, it is vital that the client has easy access to it and that is displays everything you offer.

3 BE HONEST ABOUT WHAT YOU WOULD RECOMMEND

4 KEEP IT SIMPLE

Don’t make it sound overly complicated. Share the benefits of any product or service. Clients don’t need to know the detailed science behind everything.

5 Make Their Life Easier

Making the client's life easier is what it’s all about. Recommend retail products that will help maintain the style, and use them during the appointment to give a taste of what they can achieve.

Never recommend something that you don’t believe in. Be upfront and honest and explain your recommendation and why you feel this would work for the client and their look. upfront & honest
