The Binzuru-sama is found at the entrance of Zenkoji main hall (Hondou). If you rub the part of the Binzuru’s body which corresponds with a part of your body that needs healing, and then rub that part of your body with the same hand, it is said the Binzuru-sama will take away any illness you may have.

Zenkoji Temple is a National Treasure and will hold its very special and unique Gokaicho festival this spring (2015). The original Amidha Golden Triad has been completely hidden since the year 654. The hidden “sacred replica” of the Amidha Golden Triad will be revealed for all to see during Gokaicho from the 5th of April to the 31st of May. Many other Buddhist ceremonies will be held during this time, and it is also the perfect season to enjoy the cherry blossoms! Higashi-sando

World famous architect, Kurokawa Kishou, designed the Roman Museum with the idea of uniting with nature. The main attraction is Yamanouchi born Kodama Katei’s “roman glass”, which radiates a mysterious light. The museum has a roman-tic feel, and includes antique kilims, Edo glass, and even snuff bottles and woodblock prints from the Meiji and Taisho Eras.

The flora and fauna of this beautiful area are protected under the rules of the National Park. With many trails to choose from, beginners and advanced can enjoy all that Shiga Kogen has to offer.
Oonumaike Pond
Once you have passed through the marshlands of Yonjuhachiike (48 ponds) you will be confronted with the most magnificent view of Oonumaike’s serene emerald green waters. The pond is too acidic to hold any fish, but its waters hold a tragic tale of love.
Skylator (Mt. Yokote)
To reach the Skylator (travellator), take the Nagaden bus from Yudanaka station direct to Mt. Yokote (2,307m). Here you can take the Skylator and summer lift to reach the summit with ease. The views below are like something from a film. You have to come and see it for yourself!

Nozawa's Many Hot Springs
Nozawa's hottest hot spring and natural monument of national importance is "Ogama". It reaches an astounding 90 degrees Celsius. It is also the villager's kitchen where they cook vegetables and boil eggs. "Oyu", Nozawa's main public bath or "soto-yu", is a beautiful wooden building reminiscent of the Edo period and a must-try for visitors to the village.
Uenotaira Kogen National Park
The pristine virgin forests of buna trees (Japanese beech trees) are found on Mt. Kenashi-yama. The forest is accessible for visitors with easy-to-walk paths and trails. There is also a campsite located next to Sutaka Lake for those wanting to enjoy a longer stay in this spiritual forest.
