In order to make your waiting for the big issue more pleasant we present you with the March mini issue. In this mini issue you will find the continuation of the article about Jan Hendrych, a sculptor, whom we introduced to you in the printed SOFFA 07 issue. You could see his statues in his studio – now you have the opportunity to appreciate their outdoor installation! Apart from that we decided to prepare a loose follow-up of our travel journals – from Jáchymov and Kutná Hora – and to focus on the details which do not get much space in the big issues. Lastly, we would like to thank you for beautiful reactions to the first printed issue of SOFFA 07. WE KNOW YOU LOVE OUR ARTICLES ABOUT TRAVELING AND SO WE ALWAYS REGRET THAT WE CAN ONLY FIT A LIMITED AMOUNT OF THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF PHOTOGRAPHS WE TAKE INTO THEM. NOW WE HAVE SPACE TO PRESENT YOU WITH A FEW MORE! We think that beautiful places and architecture can be found absolutely everywhere. You only need to learn to look around and notice seemingly tiny details which are, however, often the most determining and crucial. Try to look up sometimes – not at the ground – when you walk through a city and you will see that even the well-know places can surprise you! We have prepared for you a small selection of photographs taken on our travels through Kutná Hora and Jáchymov. Through them we would like to show you that even houses, which might not seem beautiful at first sight, can be charming: the way you look at things is all that matters. Let yourself be inspired and go discovering! ■

Next page: On a walk in Kutná Hora there is no lack of beautiful stuccos and decorative facades. Nevertheless, their condition greatly differs from the condition of the house. Last page: The typical features of the socialistic architecture are omnipresent in Jáchymov. The frontages of empty and evicted houses often prove their faded glory.

IN THE LAST ISSUE OF SOFFA 07 WE INTRODUCED JAN HENDRYCH TO YOU: AN ACADEMIC SCULPTOR AND PROFESSOR. YOU COULD PEEK WITH US INTO HIS STUDIO AND GET TO KNOW THE BACKSTAGE OF HIS WORK. NOW YOU CAN ENJOY THE VIEW OF HIS STATUES INSTALLED IN THE BEAUTIFUL SCENERY OF THE JIZERA MOUNTAINS. HERE YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH THE STATUES REALLY DO BELONG HERE! ALTHOUGH WE REALLY LIKE MUSEUMS, NOTHING COMPARES TO THE IMPRESSION OF A STATUE PLACED OUTDOOR! If you read our article on Mr Hendrych, a sculptor, thoroughly, you could not miss the fact that Professor Hendrych likes Baroque and worships it as the last real style. Outdoor installation of sculptures is typical for Baroque and Jan Hendrych was excited about Jan Placák’s idea (from the Ztichlá klika gallery) about placing Hendrych’s statues in the beautiful scenery of the Jizera Mountains. There are four sculptures so far and we will show you three of them! ■
