v.3

198 yds of Heaven is a neckerchief style scarf, sometimes referred to as a shawlette. It is designed to be knit in a small amount of luxury aran, or worsted yarn. It is started at the back neck and knit in the direction of the point, in one piece. The scarf has a two-stitch garter edge, and is finished with a scalloped border. The lace repeats are consistent in each row and can be marked off with stitch markers. The pattern includes both row by row instructions, and charts. Although the stitch counts for the lace repeat do not change from row to row, this is an intermediate level pattern, as lace knitting and knowledge of triangle shawl construction is helpful.

Materials: Yarn: Approximately 200 yards of worsted or aran weight, soft yarn. Suggested yarns:  2 skeins of Noro Cash Iroha 99 yards per skein 10 ply silk, wool, cashmere, nylon  Or Cascade 220, worsted 10 ply 220 yds wool. Needles: US #7 or US #8 circular needle. Noro version knit on US#7, Cascade version knit on US #8. Notions: 16 Stitch markers, Blunt end needle for finishing

Pattern notes: The written instructions are shown for the right half of the scarf. You repeat the instructions in between the *’s after the center stitch for the lefthand side of the scarf. The instructions inbetween the brackets are the stitch pattern repeats. Only the right half of the scarf is charted up to the center stitch. Begin the charts from the right and when you reach the center stitch, go back to the section after the edge stitches, and repeat the chart up to the center stitch, then knit the remaining two edge stitches. At the end of the 22 rows, you will have added a total of 4 lace repeats. Row numbers appear on the right side of the charts. Stitch counts for each row on the left side of chart. Gauge is not important for this project, knit a fabric which will show the lace when blocked. Finished size is approximately 44 inches X 21 inches.
