Context Children's books are renowned for being fun, colourful and educational resources for children to be able to refer to time and time again. What better present to give to an expectant mother? For many mothers, a personalised children's book is a great resource to teach young children. Brief or Tasks Design a children's alphabet book that will be remembered as a classic childhood memory. Explore different design processes and experiment with different bookbinding techniques as part of the design process. The children's book could be given to expectant mother's as a gift. The publication should be designed to include personal touches such as use of names. Preparation/Research suggestions Research children's books and publications. Visit bookshops and research themes within children's books and what encourages parents to buy certain children's books over others. Research different illustration styles featured in children's books. As part of the design process, undertake different illustration styles as a method of trial and error. Explore different design processes that could be included in the book such as; screen printing, laser cutting Evidence – for this project students should submit Regularly updated research posts uploaded to your blog. Research should include evaluation of primary and secondary sources. A children's book that plays on the idea of personalised designs.
