2018-2019
FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY
WE
at the School of Theatre are excited about the upcoming season and invite you to join us for this exploration. We are committed to a learning environment that builds on our rich past as it enters a new year –– encouraging excellence, imagination, artistry, and leadership to empower our students to create the theatre of the future. As we embark on our 45th season, we hope that you will take great pleasure in exploring our productions. From the underworld to the end of the world, second chances and re-writing the rules, there is something for everyone this season. There is plenty of love to go around as well. Love of dancing, romantic love, and of course, the love of all things pink. We hope you will join us, lose yourself in the shows, and be the better for it. Our ability to present theatre in meaningful ways depends on the deep and continued generosity of YOU—our patrons, donors, and community. It is fitting to take this moment to thank each of you for your varied and deep individual connections and financial contributions to the School of Theatre. Thank you so much for being a part of the arts in Tallahassee and especially with us here at the School of Theatre. The curtain is going up, and you won’t want to miss a moment. oments after saying “I do,” Orpheus’s bride draws her last breath. Ripped from her beloved Orpheus and taken to the underworld, Eurydice struggles to decide between life on earth with her husband or death in the underworld with her father. Descend into this fantastical reimagining of the classic Greek myth where gods are cheeky boys on bicycles and the only way to get there is by elevator. Complete with dark humor and wit, it is sure to have you laughing and on the edge of your seat just dying to know what happens after “till death do us part.”

ordon Michael Schwinn is a frustrated children’s television composer who is sick and tired of writing songs for a dancing frog. He begins to contemplate why he is continuously sacrificing his artistic integrity to pay the bills. That is, until a surprise medical diagnosis forces Gordon to confront the reality of his life and his songs left unwritten. This lively and vigorous musical is based on the life of its composer William Finn, what it might look like to have a second chance, and the healing power of music.
