In swing this spring With the exception of having to move clocks an hour ahead, springtime always brings out the eternal optimist in me. Even just the promise of seeing the greening landscape again is enough to get me up in the morning. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’m not jinxing it for everyone wishing for spring and then getting blanketed by snow until May — but, hey, our own Balzac Billy groundhog did predict an early end to winter. This feeling of rebirth is mirrored in the high spirits of the Calgary housing market, and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation expects the sector to benefit from Alberta’s growing economy. Deanna McArthur talks more about this in her feature on Calgary’s housing market forecast in this issue. One of the rites of spring is looking at our home and deciding which parts can stand a little sprucing up (if not moving to another home altogether). This issue, we look at the emerging design trends in bathrooms, as explored by our Shopping story by Kathy McCormick and On Trend design feature by Jessica Patterson. Even our Focus On photo feature on knobs and pulls enlightens us on how we can retouch the look of our rooms by this simple, easy way. One way we can bring a piece of spring in our living rooms no matter the season is through terrariums and vivariums, and I talk more about this emerging hobby in these pages. But this feeling of anticipation for spring is reflected even more in the condo features we have today, all of whom are seeing a surge in traffic in their respective show suites as the weather gets better. Our cover feature on Evanston Square sees Streetside Developments welcoming spring by introducing their apartment style show suite to this vibrant and engaging multifamily complex in the northwest. TEN Mount Royal is further proof that location is the key to success in the game, as buyers quickly snap up units in the follow-up project to the hit UNO project. treetside Developments takes its pioneering design expertise in multi-family homes to a whole new level, as it unveils the new show suite for the apartment-style component of its highly popular Evanston Square development in the northwest. Streetside Developments is giving buyers a sneak-a-peek of their latest multi-family building in March — and introduce them to a completely different process of building an apartment-style condo show suite that’s being done for the first time in Calgary. What’s so different about the process? In order to give buyers a look at their future investment, Streetside Developments used a unique construction method and completely built out a main floor suite before working on the rest of the building — a suite that someone will actually move into one day. This innovative show suite will be a building block for the rest of the four-storey low rise. “What’s unique about this show suite is that it’s a free-standing suite that will actually become a part of the condominium building as construction continues,” says Tammy Schuiling, Marketing Manager for Streetside Developments. “The suite is being built on top of the (underground) parkade and looks like a stand alone cube, at least until the rest of the building catches up,” she adds. There will be 67 total suites in this low-rise with nine floor plans to choose from, and buyers can see what it’s all about when the show suite is unveiled in the beginning of March. Available are studio apartments from 418 square-feet, one-bedroom units range from 600 to 709 square-feet, and two-bedroom units are ranging from 845 to 956 square-feet. All suites feature oversized windows, nine-foot ceilings, and stylish French doors that lead out to the balcony. Like all of Evanston Square, the low-rise building will have attractive James Hardie fibre cement board on the exterior, which not only has a fantastic 50-year warranty but has even better protective features. “This has a really great insulation value, fire rating, and better for keeping out the water than stucco by far,” says Karen Payne, Evanston Square Lead Sales Consultant. Evanston Square offers townhomes and apartment-style condos, but the latter will actually be the first such development in this popular community. “The option of apartment-style condo living was not available here before,” Payne says. “There is a lot of development going on in Evanston, and when you are pioneering in a community, that means you usually get better pricing, so there are advantages for buyers who get in sooner,” says Payne.

Evanston is an established community with lots of already existing amenities and new infrastructure — including new roads and access points — that are coming on-line soon. “The road systems up here in the north end of the city are improving all the time, like Stoney Trail allows commuters to go in either direction from here,” says Payne. “It’s close to the airport and great for buyers who do a lot of travelling, and some buyers who do a lot of driving to Edmonton, accessibility here is much better because Stoney Trail takes you straight to Deerfoot Trail and points north,” she adds. The wide range of products available in Evanston Square makes it appealing to variety of buyers. “We’ve been seeing first time homebuyers, people down-sizing, and professionals that work in and around the north end of the city,” Payne says. “We have a courtyard, a green space in the center with a beautiful landscaping plan for when it’s done, streets here are wider to include parking pads in front of the townhome garages,” she adds. Another added bonus is buyers for a limited time will be given a one-year free subscription to Telus-Optik TV and Internet, with WiFi and PVR — a $1,100 value. Studio apartments start at $136,000, and a one-bedroom is from $173,000, while two-bedroom suites the price starts at $222,000, each unit includes parking for either above ground or an underground stall. Evanston Square townhomes, meanwhile, start from the $240,000s. Possessions for the apartment building begins by December 2013, which is a great incentive for buyers looking to get in early. ■

It will be a statement to upscale townhome living at an affordable price, this time in the Genstar Development community of Walden. Embassy Bosa introduces loft living

volution by Embassy Bosa is bringing a new sense of style to the budding community of East Village, as they introduce two-bedroom residences with lofts in their FUSE mid-rise building. “We’re really enthusiastic about the mid-rise plans that include one-bedroom-plus-den, and two-bedroom-with-second floor flex area suites. FUSE introduces a totally new lifestyle in East Village,” Embassy Bosa’s Natalie Bosa tells Condo Living. “They are the best representation of the kind of stylish, relaxed urban lifestyle that East Village has to offer but they feel more like a single-family home than a condo.” FUSE is Evolution’s first phase, which includes a 21-storey tower with an eight-storey mid-rise beside it. I couldn’t believe that there was still this fantastic part of town just by the river and within walking distance to the downtown remained undeveloped. An opportunity of this kind is rare.” The 49-acre area that stretches from Fort Calgary to the edge of downtown with the Bow River running right by it is beginning to blossom with key pieces of its development already falling into place. There will only be 47 boutique, apartment-style condos in this four-storey building with two levels of underground parking. Each home boasts of an open-concept floor plan with nine-foot ceilings, and all top floor homes feature vaulted ceilings of up to 14 feet. Walden’s location is one of its most attractive features, it
has terrific accessibility to downtown through Macleod Trail, and is an excellent gateway for a quick trip to Kananaskis via Highway 22. “As far as hitting the mountains, you can head directly south to get to Fernie, access from the location is incredible,” says Briscoe. This community has attracted a wide variety of buyers, from young, active families, to first time homebuyers wanting to set down some roots, and professionals working in the south part of the city. Young families especially like the fact that Walden is surrounded by well-established communities with tons of amenities already available, including the Somerset LRT station, the Shawnessy shopping centre, the newly opened South Health Campus hospital, and several schools nearby.

Glass J life Create your own Pandora in your living room
ames Cameron needed something like $280 million to bring the lush ecosystem of Pandora alive in his movie “Avatar,” but you can create your own living world in the comfort of your own living room — and you don’t need such an outlandish budget. The world of terrariums and vivariums has exploded over the last few years, with new enthusiasts discovering the joys of creating basically your own mini-ecosystem. Best of all you can create these fanciful, elaborate glass-encased worlds almost anywhere, even in a condo or townhome with limited space. Much as an aquarium is a showcase for your fish, a terrarium is essentially the living quarters for your reptilian, or amphibious pets. A vivarium is likewise a display case for flora as well. The word “terrarium” is derived from the Latin word “terra” meaning “earth,” while “vive” for vivarium is Latin for “life.” Greg West of Cornels World, a Calgary-based custom-terrarium maker, defines terrariums as a glass enclosure that would house animals — usually reptiles and amphibians — with everything they need including heat, light, and substrate (soil, sand, rocks, etc.). While vivariums are more complex undertakings that is set up to replicate a more natural environment where you grow live plants, and have things like hides, ledges, running water, and waterfalls. “Most of the time reptile and amphibian keepers will keep both plants and animals in a terrarium/ vivarium together making it somewhat difficult to really rule out the complete differences between the two. But when you really come down to it, a vivarium is something that would be set up in a way to replicate a more natural environment for your animals,” he says. Allen Abbot of NewLife Enclosures — a local supplier of ABS racks and enclosures — says terrariums and vivariums are both easy to care for, although there is a slight difference between the two.

“With a terrarium the most of your maintenance will be of the basic need of cleaning your reptile or amphibians’ living area. Such as bedding, waste, leftover foods, and fresh water and feeding, also water changes when keeping aquatic animals such as turtles,” he says. A vivarium would involve a bit more work, you would have to have more equipment such as an automatic misting system, as well as a manual one to mist/ water your foliage, and also equipment to prune your plants, Abbot adds. An important aspect is the heating of the enclosures, as both reptiles and plants need a fair amount to survive and keeping them in room temperature is likely not enough to sustain them. Heat lamps, UV or infrared lamps are essential and can be set on timers. Humidifiers are needed as well, and depending on the animals or plants you have in your enclosure, some need as much as 90 per cent humidity to survive. Despite this, West says reptiles as pets have become more popular now, as they are still pretty low maintenance — no need to take them out for walks. “Also they are hypoallergenic, so for people who can’t have cats or dogs, this gives them another option.” There are some concerns, because reptiles do carry salmonella. But Abbot believes that keeping the enclosure clean and washing your hands thoroughly after

handling your pets will prevent any contamination. Terrariums range widely in price depending on the size, shape, and additional items within the cage. “A terrarium could be based upon a simple 20 gallon aquarium and then set up for the requirements of the animal,” West says. “I have done enclosures ranging from $60 all the way to $5,000 plus. The cost of the terrarium is relative to your imagination, and how much you want to spend on creating you and your reptile’s paradise.” For the price of reptiles and amphibians themselves, Abbot says they can go from $5 to as much as $500,000! “There are many extremely rare animals out there that are very limited and pricing gets up there. But there are many available for the beginner — dart frogs, all kinds of lizards and snakes — all the way up to the advanced breeder or hobbyists.” Buyers have to keep in mind, though, that Canada has some strict laws against the importation of endangered species. Both West and Abbot caution that anyone thinking of bringing in a new pet — regardless if it’s a dog or amphibian or reptile — has to do their research first and know all they can know about the particular species they are buying. “Understand EVERYTHING about your choice of reptile,” Abbot says. “You can’t just look at the price tag and the look at its face and say ‘wow, this will look great in our living room!’ Remember to ask yourself if you’re ready to feed bugs or rodents live or dead? Or are you

Are you capable of supplying all the required equipment such as heat bulbs, UV bulbs, and misters?” Most pet stores carry reptiles and amphibians as well as the supplies. But there are two reptiles-only shows in Calgary where enthusiasts can get their supplies. The bi-annual shows — organized by the Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society — is becoming more popular. “We typically see 2,000-plus people through the doors at each show,” West says. There are similar shows held in Red Deer and Edmonton, too, he adds. “Just about anyone young or elderly, single or families, any culture there is a market out there for all areas and I see this always continuing to have growth through the years, as since I was a child in the hobby it has come an extremely long way!” Abbot says. o longer are bathrooms an afterthought in home design. nyla Free, owner of nyla Free designs, says bathrooms are becoming more of a design focus in the home. “Wallpaper in powder rooms, drapery in ensuite baths and investing in natural stone for counters, floors and walls are all details I’ve seen more of in the last few years,” the interior designer says. “We’re seeing more confidence in making interesting choices in colour and materials which is translating into bathrooms with more drama than we’ve seen in a while.” The 2013 bathroom is an upscale space, where function and beauty combine. From basic tile to sleek, glamorous, patterned and textured, the options are endless. “There are few limits with the beauty of natural stone, the modern technology of digital imaging and everything in between,” Free says. People want bathrooms that stay classy for years, but now “they’re not afraid to add a little bit of edge,” Free says. “The words basic and bathrooms rarely go together any more,” she says. “Powder rooms, for example, are the perfect space to have fun and add elements of unexpected interest.”

The design trend of creating spa oasis for your bathroom is passé. Calgarians have moved on from the “spa” concept, Free notes, adding that they like to be fashion-forward and warm. Given the temperatures in the city for several months during the year, it’s not hard to see why. Nyla Free “I find we’ve moved on from the ‘spa’ concept and into an overall warmer feel in the bathroom,” she says. “Vanities with the feel of furniture, textured or even patterned tile or wallpaper, and an emphasis on lighting as well.” Bathrooms can be interesting, functional and classic without being stuffy. Flexibilty is key for Free, “when designing a bathroom to suit today’s busy families,” she says. “Steam showers are becoming increasingly more pop-

ular, while media such as music and televisions to watch the morning news are also requested more frequently,” she says. “Multiple shower heads provide options for a purposeful shower in the morning to relaxing with a rain head at the end of the day.” Janet Farnham, principal designer with The Design Studio Inc., in McKenzie Towne, says homeowners are looking for modern and streamlined design in their bathrooms. “Gone are the days of heavy, chunky moldings,” she says. “Today, simple clean lines reign. The look is about clutter-free surfaces, with toiletries and personal hygiene items tucked away into sleek drawers and storage spaces.” Contemporary design is often green and sustainable. Farnham says with the new options on the market, homeowners no longer need to sacrifice style for eco-friendly design. “A large array of sustainable designer appliances are now available for homes, including low-flow and dual flush toilets, tankless water heaters, and low-flow shower heads,” she says. “There is also a plethora of options for sustainable tiles,

counter tops, cabinets and lighting.” Green in the bathroom goes further than just fixtures, the interior designer reveals. “Investing in organic bath towels, bamboo bathmats, recycled accessories, and greening your personal care products with biodegradable alternatives are all ways you can create an eco-friendly bathroom.” Our favourites include Kohler’s CimarJanet Farnham ron® Comfort Height® high-efficiency toilet with 1.28-gallon flush, and bamboo bath furniture by Bed, Bath and Beyond. Sinks in sync Sinks and vanities play a key role in raising the bathroom’s ‘wow’ factor
T
here’s no doubt that bathrooms, particularly master suites, have become more and more important in new homes today, and it’s all about luxury. Everything from large, stand-alone or built-in jetted tubs, to walk-in showers with multiple showerheads from every angle, to any manner of other luxuries to make that room important — TVs, breakfast bars, fireplaces, and even toilets that fluff and duff and spray a wonderful scent around the room provide the ultimate in comfort and lavish living. But the sink, faucets and vanities are key in creating that ‘wow’ factor in this most private of rooms, says Jackie Rainforth, sales and marketing manager of Canyon Plumbing and Heating. “Sinks or faucets are probably the number one plumbing piece in a home — and they are easy to upgrade,” says Rainforth, they’re the basics that can bring the bling. “It just takes a couple of hundred dollars to make a statement.” The powder room is one area that has become a favourite spot to create drama, she says. “It and the kitchen are the most used areas in a home and you want to create that ‘wow’ factor.” A bathroom is a great place to let your personality show through, and many different styles and designs are available today, even if you don’t have the space to create a home spa in your bathroom. Some new trends are making statements today, says Samira Gagne, manager of trend, colour and design for The Home Depot of Canada.

“farm house style sinks with wide basins either under mount or vessel sinks are really popular right now.” “Looking ahead for 2013, the new trend is all white bathrooms for a clean, bright and contemporary look — characterized with simplicity and void of any extra frills and ornamentation,” Gagne says. “In addition to this look, people are bringing in natural elements like wood, slate and stone into the bathroom.” The clean, contemporary look is prevalent in sinks, agrees Rainforth. “White vitreous china in a square or rectangular pattern is most popular, although we do still see some glass and stone.” The pedestal sink is not as popular as it once was, although it’s still a great way show off a style in a small room, such as a half-bath. “And if people still want a pedestal, they’re most often choosing a square, contemporary style,” Rainforth says. “What’s new on the design landscape is that we’re seeing a lot of long, single basins for two faucets for a shared sink in a master bathroom,” says Gagne. The vessel sinks, although still popular, are losing momentum, although, again, square or rectangular white ones still appeal, Rainforth says. “If you want one, go for the lower profile today.” If your look is more vintage or classic, “farm house style sinks with wide basins either under mount or vessel sinks are really popular right now,” Gagne says. Faucets are the “jewelry” of the sink combinations, says Rainforth. “Jewelry is key — and many of the faucets are transitional, so they fit with any style.” Most designs are still the shiny chrome that people have seen for years, although some matte metals, brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze are showing up as well. “Floating vanities and wall hung vanities are most popular,” says Gagne, noting that these, too, have clean lines. Some models in Canyon’s show room floor have smooth, curved wooden sides. “We’re seeing a move to grey and whitewash finishes on the vanities,” Rainforth says. “But there are still the dark, espresso colours in contemporary styles or some with a European influence.” Some vanities, in fact, look more like furniture pieces that could fit in any other room in the home. They have intricate details and legs to stand. “There are lots of styles that are more transitional, fitting with both contemporary or traditional so they are timeless,” says Rainforth. At The Home Depot, white vanities and tops are most common. “And people are looking for storage underneath,” Gagne says. Price range varies greatly and depends largely on what you need. The Home Depot offers assembled vanities like Magick Woods classic single vanity at $199, while its Ove Decors 60-inch upscale double vanity with Carrara marble top is at $1,199. Popular at Canyon Plumbing is American Standard’s Boulevard line. According to the American Standard website, The Boulevard Above Countertop sinks are from $179 to $251, and Boulevard pedestal sinks are from $289 to $405. But Rainforth says solid wood vanities at Canyon are approximately $1,000 depending on size and style. CL

Calgary’s economy boosts new home market CMHC predicts housing starts, prices to increase in 2013
W
hile not a banner year, 2012 housing starts were up significantly from past years, buoyed by our strong economy, the senior market analyst for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation said. And that should continue this year, Richard Cho told close to 675 members of Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Calgary Region at its annual Economic Forecast Dinner Meeting in January. “For 2013 the housing market will benefit from a growing economy,” said Cho. “Employment growth will continue to increase, net migration will be fairly steady, the new home market will see single-family starts remaining comparable to 2012, and the multi-family starts will see a slight decline.” CMHC reported 5,961 single-family starts in 2012, up about 14 per cent from 2011, and is expecting 5,900 in 2013. On the multi-family side, 2012 saw 6,880 starts, up 38.8 per cent from 2011 and CMHC is expecting this number to level off at 6,000 in 2013, a 14 per cent decrease. As a comparison, 2008 had 4,387 single-family home starts; 2009 had 4,775; and 2011, 5,084. These numbers are a far cry from the record 10,482 recorded in 2006. Absorbed price in Calgary has been gradually increasing since 2010. The absorbed price of a single-detached home in 2012 was about $570,000, up close to six per cent from 2011 — largely due to the strength of the luxury home market, he said.

“In 2013 we are forecasting the average price (for single-detached homes) to be about $580,000, which is above the record that was set in 2008.” Watch for another year of employment growth in Alberta and Calgary, and an economy that is once again expected to be amongst the strongest in the country. A trend since mid-2010, employment growth in Calgary reached 3.7 per cent last year, which represents 27,000 new jobs. “A number of the new jobs have been in full-time employment, which means good news for the housing market and good news for housing demand. The labour market in Calgary has been improving, and it has been improving at a faster rate compared to the national average, attracting more people to Calgary.” Net migration has been very positive, coming in at an estimated 20,000 for last year and expected to be 18,000 this year — even though slowing slightly, that amount of people continues to increase the demand for housing, Cho said. The resale market is expected to see some slight increases in 2013. Sales are forecast to total 26,500, up from 21,206 reported by the Calgary Real Estate Board for 2012. The average price is forecast to rise from $383,850 in 2012 to $422,000, said CMHC. cL

KINTALLA CATChes Buyers’ eyes Streetside’s townhomes in Redstone offer something new
N
o matter whether you are just starting out in the new home ownership market, or a repeat buyer shopping the market for another opportunity, value is an important aspect of the process. With its Kintalla townhouse complex, Streetside Development Corporation feels it has created a product that will satisfy the wish-want list of these and other consumer categories. “Kintalla is designed to provide a price-specific product that doesn’t mean sacrificing your living space,” says Streetside Vice-President Lisa Feist. “The floor plans are super spacious. For example, you can fit in a king-sized bed and still have room for the bedside tables.” Located in the developing community of Redstone, north of Country Hills Boulevard, east of Metis Trail and south of Stoney Trail, this Qualico Communities project is made up of just 73 three-storey townhouses. “It’s one of the smaller projects we’ve done,” says Ashley Carcasole, sales manager at Streetside. “But we have tried to focus on providing value, good looks, and a different flavour.” Kintalla has already caught the discerning eye of consumers with as many as four bedrooms and three-and-one-half baths, as well as one- and two-car tandem garages. Floor plans range from 1,249 to 1,327 square feet with the unique flexibility to upgrade to add another bedroom or den plus bathroom on the entry level, bringing the living space to 1,494 square feet. “Our floor plans have been strong for us,” says Carcasole. Since opening its show home in October, sales are closing in on a dozen. “What’s interesting is that so far we’ve sold mostly to people downsizing, moving from Balzac, Crossfield, and Westaskawin to be closer to their children or grandchildren,” she says.
“But as we get closer to beginning possessions in the fall, I think we’ll see more first-time buyers and young families moving in.” Adds Feist: “Market response is varied, but overall interest has come from people who want less maintenance but still want some extra living space.” And like other Streetside developments, Kintalla is built with a lot of green space within it. In addition, it is across the street from a community park and backs onto a sports field. Kintalla is just a part of a much larger Redstone community. It has been designed as a mixed use community that will cover some 145 hectares with as many as 4,000 housing units. he MARK Discovery Centre for Qualex-Landmark’s latest multi-family high-rise opened to the public in February, giving everyone a chance to see for themselves the marvelous finishes and lifestyle potentials that this 35-storey tower can offer. And what a start! Nearly half of the total 270 units have already been sold, as people see the terrific value that MARK on 10th offers. “We were very busy that first day and people really responded to the high quality of specifications and amenities we offer, and our location has also been key to our popularity,” says sales manager Kaleigh Salmon. fter a month of voting, Calgarians have chosen their favourite showhome and student decorating team from Brookfield Homes’ Project Décor Student Decorating Challenge. The “Ivory Leaf” team took home first prize of $2,000 after getting the majority of the over 500 votes cast in Brookfield Homes’ first decorating challenge held at the newly opened Harvest Mosaic show homes in Cranston. The contest was a partnership with the Interior Decorating diploma program at Bow Valley College. “We were extremely impressed with the students’ work,” says Doug Owens, General Manager of Brookfield’s multi-family division. “We felt that partnering with the Interior Decorating program at Bow Valley College was an excellent opportunity to provide real life work experience to eight talented students.” Bow Valley College was also presented with a $5,000 donation from Brookfield Residential and Brookfield Homes. The funds will be used towards the purchase of essential learning tools for the Interior Decorating program such as a kitchen vignette, millwork and upholstered Ivory Leaf team with Aly Velji and Brookfield’s furniture. algary’s East Village marked another milestone, as FRAM + Slokker began construction for FIRST, a mix-use multi-family project that will be one of the biggest condo developments in the city. “We’re really excited about FIRST, there’s real enthusiasm for this development, and we’re already FRAM + Slokker and Calgary Municipal close to 70 per cent sold in the first Lands officials at FIRST ground breaking phase,” says Fred Serrafero, FRAM + Slokker Vice-President for Development and Construction. FIRST will be the first of many things in Calgary. The first phase will comprise of a mixed-use 18-storey high rise with four-storey podium with a total 196 units that clearly marks this development as a stylish original. FRAM + Slokker will be building a total of seven buildings in this East Village complex with over 800 residential units and 50,000 square-feet of commercial space. “We’re not just constructing buildings, we’re building a community here where people can actually live, work and play,” Serrafero tells Around Town. “We are already designing the next two buildings.” FIRST will rise on the corner of 5th Street and Confluence Way S.E., just off the Bow River and the river pathway system. The complex will incorporate some of the most popular design features found in other multi-family urban condo markets, including a rooftop patio with entertainment lounge and meeting room, there will also be a landscaped courtyard with benches on a third floor terrace for all residents to enjoy. 70 |

he surge in single-family home construction offset the dip in multi-family starts for a “stable” housing starts trend in January in Calgary, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). “The trend in total housing starts has been relatively stable in Calgary over the last four months, as a rising pace of single-detached construction has offset a moderation in multi-family starts,” said Richard Cho CMHC’s Senior Market Analyst for Calgary. “Overall housing starts in Calgary continue to be robust, supported by job creation, net migration, and reduced active listings in the competing resale market.” Housing starts in the Calgary Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) were trending at 11,622 units in January, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The trend is a six-month moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR) of total housing starts. The standalone monthly SAAR was 10,353 units in January, slightly down from 10,663 in December last year.

ime just flies when you’re having fun, and no one seems to be having more fun right now than Panorama West, which is opening its final phase on February 23, barely two years after this exciting development in the northern community of Panorama opened. Cardel Lifestyles’ Brad Logel says this may actually be the final opportunity to own a brand new home in this highly sought after neighbourhood. “We’re releasing the final apartment condo building at Panorama West. This is an 80 unit building we call Building D. We have nine different condo plans in all to offer with three of them being brand new plans. Recently, an industry insider named Panorama West the best suburban condo location. It’s tough to argue that one.” Panorama West’s walk-ability level is already off the charts and will likely even be more so, as the Save on Foods Grocery store has begun construction in The Gates of Panorama Hills Shopping Centre, which is right next door. “Our homeowners are very excited to see the shopping centre soon to be completed and their walking score go way up!” Logel says.
