Welcome to Sourcing Summit 2015 The apparel, textile and footwear business is becoming increasingly competitive and complex. Currency fluctuations, pending FTAs and a potentially unstable labor force are among the many issues keeping us on our toes in 2015. Our end consumers are more connected, better informed and evolving with help from technology faster than our industry can adjust. The fight for consumers’ attention and their dollars is more challenging than ever as their need for improved experiences supersedes their desire to buy just for consuming’s sake. Your job, no matter the responsibility, will become all the more challenging. Now more than ever we need to educate ourselves and prepare for the next of chapter of our sourcing story. Sourcing Journal’s growth is an indication that there is a need for exhaustive, up-to-date content that not only educates, but serves as a collective voice for our industry. Both Sourcing Journal and the Sourcing Summit would be nothing if not for the invaluable support of our sector. To our sponsors, who generously gave to ensure this year’s summit is the single best platform for discussing changing demands on sourcing; to our advertisers, who have helped us grow Sourcing Journal into an industry-leading publication; to the thousands of companies who support us by subscribing; and to you, the industry at large, who have gone above and beyond to help us mold Sourcing Journal into a publication that truly serves the needs of our community, we can only say thank you. I ask but one thing of you here today – talk to us. I’ve included my contact information below. Let me know how we’re doing. Be it advice or criticism, we want to hear all of it. Sourcing Journal has plans to launch more products, workshops and resources in the future, and as we move forward we want to be sure we’re working for the common good of the industry. Let’s work together and create a future that benefits us all. Edward Hertzman Founder and Publisher e. edward@hertzmanmedia.com m. 516.459.2689
