When it came time to plan this year’s Summit, I wanted to create the same excitement and wow factor we brought to the market five years ago—and to do that we had to do something different. We wanted to put together an event that not only discussed topics like how to be more like Zara and how to deal with rising sourcing costs, but one that also looks ahead to how the pivots of today will help us overcome the pain points the industry has dealt with recently. Today, the most forward thinking executives shaping our industry will provide you with some new and fresh perspectives that I have no doubt will get you thinking. You will get a sense of where this industry—and our lives—will evolve if you are ready to embrace the change. T:10.5”

I believe we’ll be living in a world with on-demand manufacturing, no inventory, and fully customizable clothing and footwear before we know it. And at this year’s conference, you’ll hear from the innovators leading this change. It’s exciting times again for apparel sourcing. New players—from billion dollar manufacturers to bedroom-based startups— are changing the antiquated ways of clothing, footwear and retail. Every sector has seen change, now we must embrace it because we can’t prevent it. Thank you for your continued support of Sourcing Journal. Please enjoy the day and leave here re-energized about what lies ahead rather than focused on what the days of old represent and what we are leaving behind. SOURCING JOURNAL SUMMIT 2017

By the time everyone leaves today, your minds should be racing with questions. Will I be relevant five years from now? Will I still have a job? Will my factories be in business or will robots leave a country like Bangladesh in a state of disarray without jobs for its factory workers? Can Trump change the way we do business internationally? Can the way we inspect our factories and products be revolutionized with beacons and automation? What will our industry even look like?

When disruption is the norm Disruption in retail is not new. But the pace of change is now an order of magnitude faster. The effect on the entire ecosystem is magnified, from manufacturers to retailers to landlords, luxury to mass and every touchpoint in between. With consumers having untold amounts of data in their hands, doubling down on old tactics and advisory models will not work. This change brings unprecedented opportunity for those willing to think and work differently. Our deeply experienced, hands-on retail team will guide you and support your transformation as you reinvent the very meaning of the word retail. When it really matters. alixpartners.com
