Shoot, Star In and Premiere a Cinematic Masterpiece
We live in an age of smartphones, tablets and apps where children have more access to video recording equipment and editing tools than ever before. One would expect educational filmmaking opportunities to be abundant - not so much. Luckily an East Sussex company have spent the last 8 years honing a very special holiday club. Over four days, staff at Zylo Performance’s holiday film school extract crazy ideas from children’s brains and paint them onto a cinema screen. Attendees aged 6 to 14 create 20-minute films that utilise high-quality editing, professional cameras, drones, green screen technology and visual effects to tell wondrous stories. Each course concludes with a premiere in a real cinema so the children can enjoy their work in a truly cinematic way. The course caters for youngsters of all stripes too, whether they’re interested in acting, writing, directing or just want to have fun with a great team. It will truly be an unforgettable experience! For more information and details of their Easter film school dates and locations, visit www.zyloperformance.co.uk.
Dynamos Cricket
The ECB has launched Dynamos Cricket, a new programme to inspire children aged 8 to 11 to play cricket. Two programmes in May and July will allow up to 35,000 more children to enjoy cricket this season. Dynamos will encourage boys and girls to have fun and fall in love with the game. The programme is designed for children graduating from ECB’s All Stars Cricket programme for 5 to 8-year olds but is also designed to welcome those who are new to the game. Up to 35,000 children will take part in Dynamos Cricket in their local centres at one of two 6 to 12-week courses, which will take place during the summer term, beginning mid-May, and over the school holidays, alongside The Hundred. Each week, participants will develop new cricketing skills including batting, bowling and fielding. They will have the chance to play a fast-paced and exciting game of countdown cricket – a new format that mirrors The Hundred. 8
