Saturday Talk - Cry God for Harry, England and St. George
Sharpe’s Pottery Museum, West Street, Swadlincote, DE11 9DG
Join Ally Henshaw for this Saturday Talk. Henry V was a complex man; A cultured and courteous statesman and administrator, but also a religious bigot and completely ruthless. Today he would probably even be accused of war crimes. Six hundred years ago Henry V achieved a great victory over the French at Agincourt on October 25th 1415. Ultimately though, his victory achieved little. Henry died in France seven years later, leaving behind an infant son, during whose reign nearly all the gains in France would be lost.
