Its great to see the young Sabres juniors out competing against some tough competition over the last few weeks and I look forward to seeing their progression throughout the year.
ENQUIRIES.
With high class athletes like Jenna O’Hea, Rachel Jarry and Kuany Kuany helping and leading them, it’s going to be great development over the year.

SABRES v EAGLES
NBL1 – WOMEN Round 3 Review Sunday May 2 v Launceston @ Home
T
he NBL1 women had a bad start against Launceston giving up a 8-0 point start. From there the ladies pegged it back to 14 all. After this they lost momentum ultimately going down by 33 points. Amy O’Neill was the highest scorer for the Sabres with 20 points and Cassie Hill had 11 points. Keely Froling stamped her authority and had a game high 37 points for Launceston.
The team will reflect on the loss and get ready to take on Diamond Valley this coming Saturday. The game this Saturday will be one to watch. The young Diamond Valley team is led by 2 veterans in Olivia Bontempelli and Ash McBean and is looking for their first win having a tough start to the season. The Sabres are looking to play hard and make up for last weeks lost.

SABRES v EAGLES
L
ast Saturday night saw our Sabres continue to prove that they can defend at this level, holding an experienced NW Tasmania to 74 points, the next step is to make it as consistent as possible. Last week’s home defeat saw some further improvement by the young and inexperienced side, who contuse to enjoy the little victories and embrace the process of getting better each week. Sabres continue to struggle shooting the basketball which ultimately makes the difference in the end (6/27 3FG 22.2%).

Kuany Kuany v NW
Kuany Kuany again proved why he is such a talented player at this level and above with 20 points and 10 rebounds (on only 11 shots), supported by robust play from Livai Smith (9 points). We unfortunately lose hard-nosed starting post Finn Kenny to a serious ankle injury; this is extremely disappointing for Finn who had worked so hard to improve and impact games (especially on the back of ACL surgery in 2019). We wish Finn all the best for a speedy recovery and look forward to having him on the sidelines to help motivate the group. This afternoon, we welcome the Diamond Valley. The Eagles come off a big win against the Tigers. They find themselves in a similar rebuild as the Sabres but have
Tasmania
been able to piece together a lot of size and length, plus experience with players like Ben Allen and star shooter Darcy Harding. The Sabres will have to replicate another strong defensive performance and continue to find better production on the offensive end, with ball and player movement, combined with improved shooting.
