Whilst we won’t make finals, I would like the congratulate the women on a great season. It has been fun coaching the group and last weekend’s result of two wins on the road in Tasmania shows what we can do when we are on our game. Sabres juniors Katie, Lucy, Chloe, Morgan and Cassie have shown all juniors the pathway at the club. I encourage all juniors to continue to strive to play at this level. New players Keryl, Lily and Abbey have been great additions to the club. I look forward to seeing what they do in 2023.
Friday August 5th v Hobart (won 83 - 74) Saturday August 6th v Launceston (won 87 - 76) Welcome to the Sabredome for the final round for 2022! Tonight, we are looking to beat Eltham in our final game of the season and finish with an even split, 11-11. Eltham are coming off a tough weekend against Ringwood. Their star Anneli Maley returns from her Australian trials and has been named in the Opals for the upcoming World Cup. We wish her luck in September. – WOMEN

I’d like to thank Amy, Brigitte, Georgia, Funda and Britt for their contributions throughout the season. To have their College and WNBL experience on the floor for the whole season was exceptional. Rachel Jarry (left) wasn’t going to play this season but I am so glad that she returned. She is a fierce player that competes until the very end. Rachel has played for a number of coaches at Sandringham but I am lucky that she continued for her last season with us. I wish her all the best and know she will be around a court soon. To assistant coaches Andrew and Dave and team manager Chris. You have sacrificed a lot for the group and we are so grateful for your time and expertise. Finally I would like to thank all those at the club that allow this great game to go ahead. The SBA board, CEO, office staff, game-day staff and the supporters. Without you the season wouldn’t have run so smoothly. Thank you!

PREVIEW: Round 16 Friday August 5th v Hobart (won 85 - 74) Saturday August 6th v NW Tasmania (won 91 - 78) Welcome to the last game of the regular season. Tonight we’re up against Eltham in an important game for us. A win will guarantee us a top 4 finish and potentially a top 2 finish if other games go our way. NBL1 – MEN After a huge weekend away in Tassie where we picked up two hard fought wins, we’re also excited to welcome back Dion Prewster from injury and Tom Wright from the Commonwealth Games. Lastly, congratulations to Rachel Jarry, who’s playing her last game tonight, on an absolutely outstanding career. Wishing you the best in whatever comes next. Once a Sabre always a Sabre!
