SABRES v BANDITS The Sabres are returning to a double header this weekend, playing Geelong Saturday night and Albury Sunday. We welcome our country friends to the Sabredome and look forward to an exciting match. Emma Mahady is having a big season for the Bandits averaging 24 points a game and is closely supported by Brodie-Paige Theodore with 16 points. The Sabres are going to have to work hard to shut these two players down in particular to stop Albury getting their first win for the season. The Sabres are aiming to start with intensity and get early defensive stops against Albury. Having only had two trainings the ladies look ready to go.

The break has allowed players to return from injury and have a full roster ready to go. Cass Hill, Amy O’Neill and Chloe Hicks have all had great starts to the season and hope they can continue this into the second half. Rach Jarry and Katie Jewell’s leadership has been pivotal in the first four wins. The Sabres would like to wish Jenna O’Hea all the best as she leaves the Sabres to pursue her Olympic campaign. We thank her for her joining us and the leadership she has shown whilst playing for the Sabres. We hope to see her in orange again soon! Jacqui O’Neill – Coach

y commendation and appreciation to our athletes in how they’ve dealt with another setback this season. The group kept up their S&C and recovery, supported one another, and got some well-earned rest before this restart, which is condensed to say the least. Whilst on our break we were able to make some exciting, and much needed, additions to our orange & blue family. We are proud to welcome new signing Preston Bungei,

Kenyan international and professional returning from a stint in Denmark. And Ngor Nai, who comes home from his stint at College in the USA. We are thrilled to see both Preston & Ngor give the club some much needed firepower. Resuming the season, we start with a tough double header away to Geelong and home to Albury/Wodonga. Travelling to a star-studded Geelong Supercats will be a great test for our new squad. Today we welcome Albury/Wodonga, who have been lucky enough to avoid restrictions as they stayed basketball active throughout the Victorian lockdown.

Albury-Wodon ga website

The Bandits come to the Sabredome in similar form to the Sabres having only won one game in eight games. They are led by new signing Lochie Hutchinson a DP for the Sydney Kings, young gun Mitchell Dance from NZ, plus athletic 6-11 centre John Crnogorac. Important reminder from all of the staff and athletes; thank you! Without you the fans, we can’t do this. Please remember, our doors are always open.
