Mental Health Benefits of A Plant-Based Diet You are what you eat! Multiple sources of research show how our food choices affect our physical health, mental health, mood, and temperament. * Anxiety and stress. Arachidonic acid, found only in animal products, sets off chemical reactions in the body eventually leading to increased inflammation. When this inflammation reaches the brain it can cause feelings of anxiety, stress, and depression. People who avoid foods with arachidonic acid typically report more positive moods and improved mental health.
* Depression. Research suggests
eating more plant-based foods can reduce symptoms of depression. * Focus. Eating healthy plant-based
foods has been shown to improve focus and job performance.

Dangers of Comfort By: Shanda Campbell
Comfort is defined as ‘being free from pain or restraint’. It is a selling point for many industries. Today’s society would have you believe that if ‘it’ is not comfortable ‘it’ is bad. We see non-stop commercials on how to make our home, car, hotels, shoes, relationships, and everything else more comfortable. While I too love to have a comfortable atmosphere, I also know that growth requires us to be uncomfortable, growing pains. When I think about the purpose within each of us and the barriers that prevent some of us from walking in it I think about our perspective to comfort. How many of us choose comfort over growth? What do I mean by the dangers of comfort? I mean there are times when we prioritize comfort over growth. We avoid conversations and situations that require us to speak up or take accountability. We avoid calling things out in situations that are unhealthy and say “I just don’t like confrontation”. We surround ourselves with ‘yes’ people who cosign our foolish behavior instead of listening to constructive criticism from those who truly love us. I say we because we all have been in this place at one time or another. This is a dangerous place to remain though. Being uncomfortable is a part of the growth process. None of us get through life without being feeling pain, however, we do have a choice of how we navigate pain. For example, as a nurse I understand first that giving birth requires pain. We all are in a process of birthing what is inside of us. Additionally, I understand that both injury and healing is painful. If you have an injury or illness you are in a painful, uncomfortable state. Conversely healing from surgery to remove or repair what was broken is uncomfortable. Either way you will be uncomfortable, the difference is not fixing the issue may kill you, but healing offers hope for a healthy, happy future. Another danger of comfort is stagnation which is the lack of growth or development. When I think about the dangers of stagnation, I think of how it puts us in reverse. In medicine there is a term called “muscle atrophy” which occurs when muscles waste away due to lack of mobility or motion. This can result in the muscle becoming smaller and weaker. This is what happens when we are determined to remain comfortable. We become smaller and weaker. Another danger of stagnation is toxicity. Water that is stagnant is dangerous because it breeds bacteria, diseases, and fungus. It is also filled with harmful insects and rodents. While flowing water does not have these dangers due to the constant fluctuations. When we seek constant comfort we allow ourselves to become stagnant and just like standing water we become toxic and allow toxic people and things into our lives.
Growth is uncomfortable. Birthing what is inside of you is uncomfortable. Just like the olive must become uncomfortable to produce oil you and I will go through uncomfortable situations that make us grow. There are many uncomfortable lessons that happen in our lives and we choose how we navigate them. Are we growing or stagnant? That is the choice we all must make to avoid the dangers of comfort.

What fuels your community service? I have gone through difficult times and with having a special needs son I thought about others who are dealing with the same situations. Community service is a great way to give back and build relationships. I love helping others and I love my city! Tell us about the ‘Entrepreneur Marketplace’ & how seeing entrepreneurs thrive feels The Entrepreneurs Marketplace was created out of the need for a permanent location for entrepreneurs allowing them to sell their products without the overhead of owning a building. It was a place for small businesses to sell, network, and grow their business in an area that had no retail stores and was a food desert. I was born and raised on the westside of Dayton, so this was very important to me. I feel I have accomplished something that is helping others by creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to showcase their products, so many of these vendors have evolved and opened their own stores or businesses. Making a difference in this area was my goal and to build meaningful relationships! What are some words of wisdom you would offer entrepreneurs just starting in business? First, do not listen to people who do not support you and never give up! There will be bumps along the way. It will be a long and hard journey, but be steadfast and know that you will need the help of others. There will be setbacks and you will have to find a way to finance it and keep moving forward. Why is autism and disability awareness important to you? I am motivated to help my son with his disabilities and to learn as much as I can about this diagnosis is important. Also knowing that others are going through the same situation as we are is important. I am very determined to educate and help others. What is upcoming for you and how can we support your efforts? I am very excited to present some new endeavors with unlimited possibilities in the future. My mind never stops, and I have identified other needs in our community. Anyone can help by supporting small businesses, not just my vendors, but every small business. This money stays in our community and it is building wealth.

Becoming A
Destiny Chaser
Becoming A Destiny Chaser Speak Woman Magazine interviewed Pastor Pamela Cone about her upcoming book ‘Destiny Chasers’.
This transformational book gives us insight on how we all can overcome fear and doubt and walk in our Destiny!
Tell us about your book ‘Destiny Chasers’. How we all can become one.
Destiny Chaser came when I began to realize huge shifts in my life. These shifts weren’t planned like we do when we say we had to pivot. These were divine shifts! One morning I was having a conversation with my good friend Dr. Sharlene Kinlock, and we began discussing the amazing things God was doing in our lives. She said, “We’re catching up with our destiny!” This was an affirming statement. I felt a shift in my heart and mind. A call to act with a sense of urgency on all the things I was experiencing. Being a destiny chaser is surrendering to the will of God. This is not easy! It's easier to say than to place into practice. Or at least in my experience it is. Trusting God for things we ask for in our own will and desires takes less effort than trusting God for His thoughts for us. Why is this? It may be because we know what we think, but we must seek and ask God for what He thinks. We know and want our desires, but we must surrender our desires to the desires God has for our lives (Proverbs 16:1-3).
What does surrender to God look like?
How does this look in practice? For me, I had to learn how to commit my way to the Lord. To make a conscious effort to ask for the intention in what my days hold, and what He would have for me in every space. Once I'm there, in the appointment or assignment, what is it He would have for me to see, to know, to understand, to give, to support? Why am I there, and what do I need to hear? Surrendering to God involves learning how to listen and see through the Holy Spirit and being obedient to His Voice.
What would you say to someone who feels it is too late to be a ‘Destiny Chaser’?
We don't know how much time we have here. Time is a precious commodity! There is a time span for man on earth, and there is an eternity to seek after while we are here. The question is, what are we going to do with the time we have been given? Whenever you realize this or have this epiphany, get moving! Move in tandem with the thoughts that God has for you. Chase them like they’re life! Because they are! Desire to live His thoughts!
Ephesians 1:5 tells us that we have been adopted. We are God's children. Let that soak in and tell yourself, "I belong to God!" He had me in His thoughts before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). He has thoughts concerning me. No matter what it looks like today, He has an expected end for me (Jeremiah 29:11).
How can we identify our ‘Destiny Helpers’?
“Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion.” Psalms 20:2 Sometimes you need a little help! Look for your help! God will send us those people who will do just that, destiny helpers. Destiny helpers are those who see that you’re trying to get somewhere. They may not see it all the way through to the end, but whatever role they can play they’re willing to do so. They simply come to help! Maybe they add you to their prayer list and intercede on your behalf. They may send clients your way or be your reference for a position. They send you flowers just because, and it’s always when you need them the most. They may have found out that you're working on a project or you’re sick, so they order food for you or bring a meal.
What are some key takeaways from your book “Destiny Chasers”? •

•
A Destiny Chaser surrounds themselves with like-minded, spiritual, destiny-centered people to help them along their journey.

God's thoughts towards us began before he scooped up the earth, formed man, and breathed the breath of life into him (Genesis 2:7); even before He created Eve (Genesis 2:21-22).

God's thoughts towards us are dateless!
•
My Destiny Propeller Parents: They never told me what I wasn’t going to be. They told me who I was destined to be!
