The Body Electric

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

The Body Electric All the ancient civilizations understood that there was more to the human body than just what we can see. We find references to human energy systems in the writings of the Egyptian, Indian and Chinese civilizations and in the folklore of indigenous peoples. The idea that there is more to our health than what meets the eye then fell out of fashion in the Western world for a long time, only to be rediscovered in the 20th century. Now, science has the tools to describe and measure energy systems and that has interesting implications for the future of health and medicine. In this issue, we explore ‘The Body Electric’, meaning the various different energy systems at play within and around living beings, including the acupoint/meridian system and the chakra/nadi system. This aspect of our work sometimes creates stress for people, as there can be a tendency to vilify that which we don’t understand or to assign supernatural elements to energywork. The following articles can help us to understand and explain these better, so we can use them properly to enhance our health and help others. (For a longer discussion of this, check out my blog post of a few months ago titled Is Kinesiology Un-‐Christian?) We also look at our relationship with technology and how it can be used to improve (rather than destroy) health, both with the development of new programs and apps that can assist practitioners and by creating international communities of health professionals. On another note, I am really enjoying receiving feedback from readers about this magazine. My aim is for this journal to serve our international community, so if you have questions/comments/ideas that will help me make this more relevant and useful to you, I would love to hear it! Thanks for reading. We’re all in this together!

Your Turn – Questions, Letters and Social Media

Question: How do you briefly explain ‘energywork’ to non-‐K people? Leah Raposa Foley: If you look at it from a quantum physics perspective, we are all energy. Energy work looks at redirecting stuck energy within that leads to imbalances & ill-‐health in your system -‐ and freeing it up to help your body/mind return to a sense of balance again. Holly Berezowski: Energy medicine works on the premise that when a body is operating at its optimal level, each system, each cell, each atom is in constant communication. When there is a communication breakdown, the body will adapt, but becomes less efficient. It forgets how to work as a team. Energy work locates the imbalances and resynchronizes the systems. Best of all is safe, effective and non invasive. Feedback from the Winter Issue: “When I read your magazine it makes me realize how much is out there. I know it but forget. It makes me excited again to see people realizing their potential and doing new stuff.”

Next issue’s theme is “Tiny Worlds: Microbiomes”

Next issue’s question: Do you make or buy naturally fermented foods? Why or why not?

Your Turn – International SK Week

March 13-‐19 was International Specialized Kinesiology Week – a time for all who love our work to educate those around them about the benefits of SK. I hosted a Facebook Live Event from my village in the rainforest, and received these lovely photos via email. Did you have an event in your area? Let me know! happy@alexiscostello.com

From Sam Ashbee in the UK: On Wednesday 15th March 2017, I hosted a Touch for Health Taster Evening to celebrate Kinesiology Awareness Week (photos from the evening kindly taken by my Partner Tony). The aim of the event was to raise awareness of Touch for Health Kinesiology by running through some Touch for Health background information: what is Touch for Health Kinesiology? What is a balance? The history of Touch for Health to the Triangle of Health and then an opportunity for the guests to experience muscle testing, ESR, Auricular Energy Technique and energize themselves with some cross crawl which all appeared to thoroughly enjoy! By Alexis Costello

Charles Krebs is probably one of the best-‐known names in Applied and Specialized Kinesiology today. Creator of the LEAP program and author of a few books including the encyclopedic ‘Energy Kinesiology – Principles and Practice’ (coauthored by Tania O’Neill McGowan), he became an avid researcher and advocate for kinesiology work after seeing the dramatic impact it made on his own life. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Charles many times, both in class and over dinner, and I knew immediately he was the person I wanted to talk to about energy systems for this issue!

In my naiveté, I suggested that we use questions I had put together to guide the discussion before it turned into a tangent. In actually, I’m not conducting an interview here at all; I’m just along for the ride! For any who would like to see Charles answer in his typical unabridged effusive manner, check out the entire interview of YouTube with this link:

The Body Electric A: What is unique about the meridian system, compared to other body energies, such as chakras for example? C: Each system has its’ own connection, but they have differences. The meridians, as the Chinese recognized, were related to organ systems, and they are used for maintaining and nurturing organ systems. Then we have the extra meridians, one that is an endocrine regulator and one that is an autonomic nervous system regulator, but these functions are secondary to the primary organ system functions. The primary control at this level is from one organ to another organ; how heart and lung can work together for example. If we’re going to talk about chi you need to have an understanding of what ‘chi’ is. “A flow of energy,” -‐ that’s kind of the best we can do in the West, because we don’t really have the language for it. Western science had trouble with this because they couldn’t measure it (chi).

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 But now we have ways of pretty much demonstrating that it is a real physiological thing, with an electrical basis and measurable properties, so it’s becoming harder and harder to say that meridians don’t exist. In 2015 they did a study on acupoints with 3D fMRI and they show that the structure under acupoints is found no place else in the skin except for under acupoints. So they are real, physical, anatomical structures. We know that they also have electrical properties. For instance there is a null point, the point of least electrical resistance. You can use a galvanometer to measure and it’s right where the Chinese said it was in traditional acupuncture. Only about 80-‐85% of the points are on the meridian lines, but we need to remember that the meridian channel is not often near the surface of the skin, it’s deeper, so the point has a little channel that goes to a little vortex that is the point on the surface of the skin.

Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com

8

The Body Electric There can be a blood vessel or a nerve that goes across, and if you hit a nerve and you put the needle through the nerve, it’s going to be uncomfortable. If you poke an artery it’s going to bleed. So the Chinese said, well if this is where the point is, if I just move back here and go at an angle, I’m going to be working with the point within the channel and then I can regulate it from over here. This whole system regulates the flows of chi and we can’t see that too well, but we can measure it, like with infrared thermography now. You can have a person that’s in balance, and you can go to an acupoint and put a needle in it, so it’s activated and you can see the change in heat go up and down the meridian and every acupoint lights up, right down the meridian pathway. There’s no explanation in science why that should be. Not all acupoints function the same. You can have acupoints that get blocked, and when the acupoints get blocked, then the chi doesn’t flow easily through the points. Think of the points as being valves that regulate and control the flow of energy. If a valve gets stuck you can’t regulate homeostasis and function, and that function is related to a particular organ, which is now going to have difficulty functioning. It’s either not getting enough chi or it’s getting too much chi. Now, too much of a good thing is not a good thing! What blocks the point most of the time is a psycho-‐ emotional issue. I would stimulate the point, put it in circuit, and find out what was the issue involved. Almost always it involves the amygdala and some kind of programing, so you clear it and now the energy moves quickly and the point is operating normally. I’m just developing a whole thing now on balancing the etheric (which is the realm the meridians are concerned with), and it has just been mind-‐blowing. This works for really chronic problems, because the information is actually held in the etheric and the etheric is supposed to be your physical template, to stabilize and even create the physical.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

At the IKC Conference in Banff, Canada, September 2015

One of the big questions has always been; what is it that allows us to maintain our physiology and our physiological organization, in the presence of the second law of thermodynamics (which is entropy)? All physical things should fall apart over time. Throw a nail into the yard and, dust-‐to-‐dust, in time it just goes back to iron oxide. It doesn’t stay as a nail; it goes to nothing, back to its original sources. How can we keep renewing ourselves, maybe not quite so perfectly as we get older, but for a whole lifetime? Western medicine really doesn’t have much of an answer for that. In the East it’s a very straightforward thing; as long as that template is providing information, the physical system can organize itself. When that template becomes distorted, then it (the physical) has nothing to stabilize and it does start to become disorderly. That’s why blocked chi flow is such a big problem; chi flow is what? It’s organizing information. The information exists in a magneto-‐electric domain; this (acupoints and meridian pathways) is just a conduit. So chi flow is basically a type of deltronic flow that supports the function of the organ, via the, very diverse, meridian system.

9

The Body Electric In the Law of 5-‐Elements there are about 80 points and that’s the primary tool used to balance energy in Chinese medicine. The individual points all have unique properties and all affect specific physiology. The meridians carry the chi to a specific organ and it sustains that organ by providing a constant supply of organized information to help maintain the organization of the physical in the face of entropy. A: You’ve been doing some research on Acupressure formatting – can you explain to me what that is and how it works? C: What Richard Utt discovered was truly unique. He discovered a way to balance the chakra/nadi system with acupuncture. No one had combined these systems before. And that’s called the Seven Chi Keys. The other thing he did was to recognize that acupoints have frequencies. If we take two frequencies and we interact them we get a third signal that is the combined waveform of the other two. It’s an energy signature. So rather than working with acupoints individually, what if I take them together at the same time? If I do that, I’m going to have two frequencies and they’re going to obey the laws of physics and create a waveform. What if I’m activating the lung and the liver? Those are two organ systems. Now I’m getting a unique waveform that relates to the interaction of these two organs. Then he brought in hand modes from the mudra system and used these with acupoints. Every combination is going to give you a different

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 frequency waveform. You are working with resonance, like hitting low C and hearing high C ding on a piano. So we have unique frequencies, which we can read through muscle feedback. For example, the amygdala is in control of our psycho-‐emotional lives; it’s one of our survival systems. To be able to activate the amygdala, he worked out that you could hold ‘anatomy’ and ‘gland’ (modes) touch CV 23 & 24, and that combination seems to resonate with the limbic system. The limbic system has different parts, what he found for amygdala was CV 14. If you activate the amygdala through stress you change its resonance. If you’re sitting there calm and peaceful, I’m not going to get an indicator change when I check that. So he would put the limbic system (in circuit) and then do something that would activate the amygdala, like slam a book down beside the person’s head. Now, that’s going to fire the amygdala because they weren’t expecting that! So then he’d put that in circuit and go around the points and see what acupoints became active when he gave that challenge. And on each person it was a different combination of points, but CV 14 was the common one. Then he would put on physiology (mode) and look at the physiological reactions of the three big emotions in the amygdala: rage, escape and fear. There are two other sets of emotions: pain/punishment and pleasure/reward; and these are so that you remember and learn. Because if you survive you want to remember how you survived!

The Body Electric Right now I’m just trying to get a weekend free so I can finish with this paper that I’m writing with a professor from Harvard Med School on acupressure formatting, detailing an exciting study showing that this causes measurable neurological reactions. I’m just getting that paper together and will be presenting it at the IASK conference in Bergamo in April. Acupressure formatting was a major step in being able to identify specificity. And then Hugo Tobar got totally into this and now has about 10,000 formats. These are ways of non-‐verbally indicating very specific physiology and it works incredibly well. This all came from the insight of Richard Utt, who came from a background working with physics and electricity, which allowed him to see things in an unique way. A: What mistakes do you see practitioners making when it comes to working with meridians and acupoints that you would like to educate people about? C: One thing -‐ and it’s one of my pet peeves -‐ is to ignore the physiology of muscle testing. Someone goes to spindle off a muscle and they go like this (brushes over the area on his arm lightly). This is shirt spindling – you just spindled off my shirt! But you haven’t sedated my muscle. You’ve got to go into the muscle to actually activate the muscle. Accuracy is important and it changes the quality of your results. Thoughtforms go so far, but if you think that Lung 9 is up here (points on upper arm) and use it, it’s not going to work very well!

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

a lot of people that like to do this (mimes really light testing). It’s so light, I’ve had them work on me and I couldn’t tell if there was a muscle change. I don’t doubt that they were feeling valid muscle changes because it can be very subtle, but it doesn’t help me for you to not show me what’s happening. It makes you look really cool because you know everything, but it’s supposed to be biofeedback, which means they (the client) get the feedback. There’s no reason to test that lightly, that’s just nonsense, because the purpose is for them to have feedback, not just you. And then they can observe change. The last thing is that you need to be relatively close to an acupoint for it to be effectively stimulated. How big an acupoint is relates to how warm the skin is. If the skin is quite warm, the acupoint can be almost the size of a quarter, whereas if it’s cold, the point is just a dot. But it’s a gradient, so the millimeter circle in the middle is the most intense. If you’re a little out, that’s ok, you’ll just have to stimulate it longer. But if you’re nowhere near it, then it’s only a thoughtform that’s connecting, because you aren’t working with the acupoint itself. So some degree of specificity and identity is needed or you don’t have that overt stimulus going into the system. A: If you’re trying to plug in a lamp, putting the plug beside the outlet is not going to light up the lamp – we’re talking about an actual electrical flow! C: Right, the more specific you are the more powerful each correction technique is going to be.

And another thing I find very annoying, and I don’t think it’s really honoring the system, is this; one of A: Can we talk about your chips? I know you the powerful things about kinesiology is that you, have a new one now for Jet Lag, how does as the person receiving the treatment, should information become encoded on them? How did experience what’s happening. You do this in two you decide what to include in each one? powerful ways: sight and touch. When a muscle goes weak and then we correct and it goes strong, C: The chips originated because I had developed a you know that something changed. You can see couple of good nutraceuticals: one for muscle that there was a stress that maybe you weren’t function and one for brain integration. When I consciously aware of, but now you can reason and would do a corpus callosum test (bear hug test), think about it; you experienced a technique and when people were under stress, it would collapse. now when we recheck, you can see that you no longer have any stress on that issue. But there are Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com 11

The Body Electric I found that often nutrition would lock it up. When you’re under stress your body needs a lot more support to make the neurotransmitters you need. So I had this matrix that worked very well but then my partner who made the actual product retired and I didn’t have anyone else to produce it. I met this man in Germany who is an engineer by training but has had all kinds of shamanistic experiences. He had worked with a Shaman in West Africa who had taught him how to energetically imprint things. The first thing he had made was a chip to block EMFs; absorbing in the microwave range and releasing what are called Schumann frequencies – earth’s natural background radiation. He is the one making the actual chips with the information selected. Now there is a muscle chip imprinted with frequencies and if is there is a muscle imbalance and it’s a physiological problem (doesn’t work if there’s emotional crap on it) and you put the chip on the body, the muscles will go into homeostasis. Now there are a whole chain of these; chips for different psycho-‐emotional states, for different physiology imbalances. The TA chip replaces the old Thinking Advantage nutraceutical formula; it does the same thing, and it reintegrates brain function. You can use these with SIPS too (Stress Indicator Point System), you can find the active points, download the stress, and then use the chip as a correction and you get an even better result because you’ve downloaded the stress first. And this is what I call informational medicine. The only thing present is information. But all you ever need to heal is information. As soon as I give your body the information it needs, it heals itself. And all information is frequency and frequency interactions. Everywhere you look now you’re seeing informational-‐based medicines that are coming out and they’re very disruptive of the current system.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

The only thing present is information. But all you ever need to heal is information. As soon as I give your body the information it needs, it heals itself. Because, if I can put my muscle chip on and, 1,2,3,4,5, your pain in your shoulder goes away, how much ibuprofen and aspirin are you not going to be using anymore because your pain is gone? It’s bad news for big pharma. As this stream of technology begins to make inroads it’s going to be strongly resisted. This is going to be the next big thing and in kinesiology we’re perfectly centered because we have a mechanism to give us feedback to let us use this informational medicine. We have the tool that you need. Check out the interview on YouTube which includes information about how the Chinese knew about these pathways, William Tiller’s dimensions of negative space/time, vaccines, EMFs, and all of Charles’ sound effects and gestures, which I have attempted to reduce to words here! www.lydiancenter.com ckreb@lydiancenter.com

Surfing Dual Waves of Technology and Health

By Earl Cook

I’ve been riding the dual waves of technology and alternative healthcare almost my whole life and find it interesting how intertwined they have become. In my first ‘real job’ as a 15-‐year old, I worked for my older brother, Dan, troubleshooting and repairing electrical appliances. The first thing I learned was how to test for continuity in electrical circuits. Whenever I found a break or a short in a circuit, I fixed it. Repairing appliances is a thing of the past as they are now, unfortunately, mostly, disposable. Rather than repairing, they are simply thrown away and replaced. Fortunately, I retained my abilities to troubleshoot and repair circuits. My main testing tool for checking continuity back then was crude but powerful. It consisted of two bare wires connected to 110 volts with a light bulb in the circuit. When the two wires were touched to different ends of a circuit, the light bulb would light if there was continuity. When the circuit was broken, it would not light.

much safer! And, by restoring continuity in people’s circuits we help them energetically glow and shine. Years later, my wife, Gail, and I were introduced to Touch for Health and the body’s circuits of energy. After studying electrical diagrams and circuits, the meridians made perfect sense to me. Being able to use the muscle test (rather than bare wires) to test for continuity was fun and satisfying. We bought Dr. Thie’s book, Touch for Health, and often used ‘The Book’ over the years. Throughout my life and computer career, there have been experiences in technology that have helped me better understand the body and Touch for Health. In the later 1970’s, I read a blurb about the microprocessor. It was described as “the computer for the common man” and, being in the group of ‘the common man’, it resonated with me and I learned how to build, troubleshoot and then program these new and powerful tools.

Don’t try the following at home! As a teenager, I got bored if there was nothing to fix. During these times, I would sometimes hold both ends of the electrical wires to see if I could complete the circuit and make the light shine (without electrocuting myself)! I could do it. As a result, I learned not only about circuits and continuity, but that the body has circuits that conduct and breakers that prevent overloads in the circuits. And, when there is continuity in these circuits, it makes the light glow and shine! Today, we use the little ‘Energy Ball’ to demonstrate this using only micro-‐volts which is Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

During this time, I learned about the Bernoulli Effect and feedback loops in hard drives. These powerful feedback loops were used to control the flight of the read/write heads to keep them in balance as they flew. I became very interested in feedback loops in technology and then later learned how the body uses feedback loops to maintain balance and homeostasis. I am especially interested in the biofeedback tool that we use... the muscle test. This has been an interesting crossover mentally for me between technology and the body. Gail and I were largely self-‐taught in Touch for Health for 26 years. We had a 30-‐minute introduction to TFH in 1976 and then we had our first class in 2002 with John, Carrie and Matthew Thie. We literally wore out four books we used them so often over that 26-‐ year period. In 1988 I decided to start programming a solution that we would help us learn TFH more easily, track results and show personal patterns that were evident from our testing and balancing. Our eTouch for Health software started out as a personal project. However, it became clear to me that if it could help us, it could help others also. I love books. I love their smell, their feel, the way you can flip to a page and read what you want. I have favorite books that I will pick up and leaf through them to find favorite passages. My inspiration when programming eTouch was to preserve as many of those attributes as possible while adding the power of the computer to the total package. As a computer consultant/troubleshooter, I used to be called into emergencies, and once again, I see similarities between working with technology and Touch for Health. Often, my client’s would say to me, “I’ve lost all my work for a very important project! It’s gone. My job is gone, my career! All gone!” I realized that I must first address the client’s stress before solving the problem. I would say, “Don’t worry. I can fix it. Relax. Take a walk and I’ll have it going when you return.” With them calm and taking a walk, I could relax and get on with troubleshooting and fixing the problem. I asked Dr. Thie one day in his office, “Why do we start with the Stomach Meridian?” Dr. Thie replied, “We could start with any of the meridians after Central and Governing however, by starting with Stomach we address the client’s stress and anxiety first so that we can get on with balancing the body.” Personally, I realized that if I had a clinic, I could help 7-‐8 people a day. As an instructor, I can teach dozens of students who will then go out and help many thousands of people. And, I realized that if we used the powerful technological tools available to us, we have the potential to help millions of people around the world live healthier and happier lives with less pain and stress. Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com

Issue | Date As a software developer, I always ask my clients what their goals are for the software I am about to write for them? One day, I asked Dr. Thie what was the most important attribute of Touch for Health? He replied, “If we can help people make meaningful goals for themselves and help them take that next step in becoming who they are, then we are truly helping people!” I smile when I think how many people we’ve been able to help by writing software and using TFH to help people define and realize their goals for a fuller and happier life. Early in my computer career when building advanced computer systems, I also discovered that my testing computer was very sensitive. We all know about static electricity and we practiced safe practices but this sensitivity was different. One day, no changes had been made to the system but it failed one morning when I was very angry over something. This happened once more and I became convinced that I needed to remain calm around these advanced computers. After I remained calm, the problem never reappeared. With this experience, I became aware of the subtle forces and how we can project our energy, either positively or negatively. When looking at the electronic computer and the body electric, I realize there is a connection. I find it interesting that the early computers had functional areas that were described as parts of the body... the microprocessor was described as the ‘brains’, etc. and now we use computer terms to describe the functions of the body... i.e., ‘the body’s bio-‐computer’.

I am glad that we no longer have CRT displays and have flat panel displays. Most computers are well-‐ shielded these days so that electromagnetic waves (EMF) can not escape. I prefer wired network connections where the EMF remains contained within the shielded cables. I try to use wireless only when there is no other choice. I try not to use my cell phone without a headset, when possible.

“With this experience, I became aware of the subtle forces and how we can project our energy, either positively or negatively.”

With the use of eTouch, I have not determined any bad effects of using a laptop or iPad during a session. Touch for Health still works! However, I purposely programmed a feature into eTouch for those that might not want to use a computer during a balancing session. In eTouch, you can create a new session for a client and then immediately go to Reports without entering any results and print a blank test form for the client. Then, the paper form can be used to record results during the session with the client and the results entered later to keep in the records. The benefits of eTouch, due to technology, are many and outweigh other detriments, in my opinion. I have chosen to use technology for its information management and knowledge communication capabilities rather than as an electronic tool. James Oschman, PhD, author of Energy Medicine -‐ the scientific basis, stated at the TFHKA conference in Sacramento, California, “The hand is infinitely more sensitive and adaptive than any electronic device that he had tested.” The power of information and knowledge was made evident to me a project early in my career. Apple Computer asked me to do a presentation a group of information managers from the CDC that were responsible for communicating information about the AIDS epidemic at a time when no one knew what caused it. As a result, this group eventually used information and knowledge in what was the world’s largest preventive health information campaign in history. The CDC then communicated in every way possible to warn of the causes and how to prevent AIDS. I saw the power of information and communication in this preventive health effort, which saved 10’s of millions of lives.

The Body Electric The power and number of tools that are available to us keeps growing! I was asked to speak in Kyoto, Japan back in 2010. Kenichi Ishimaru, my host, asked if eTouch would run on an iPad? It would run but it needed a new batch of layouts. Importantly, the digital movies of the muscle tests would not run like they did on a laptop or desktop! As a matter of necessity, I learned about ‘The Cloud’ and put the movies into the Cloud so that they were accessible from anywhere in world. As a result of this new technology capability, I began developing an advanced App, ‘Bubbles and the Five Elements’, which mostly resides in the Cloud. It is an advanced lightweight reference and session tool. It’s almost complete! Whereas, eTouch is almost one gigabyte in size, Bubbles is just a little over 10 megabytes! Digital video and the Cloud are also allowing us to introduce our four levels of eTouch for Health workshops with video-‐on-‐demand (VOD) where students can learn

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 After all these years, I’m still riding the incredible waves of technology and applying them to our alternative healthcare model every chance I get. Amazingly, we have more advanced tools for learning, teaching and recordkeeping that many healthcare models. Just think, we can deliver the knowledge of Touch for Health to almost anywhere in the world in approximately five minutes. I hope you enjoy! There is healing in information and knowledge via continuity, however it occurs. Clear your heart before you sleep By Sylvia Marina Your family is an energy field in which you consciously or unconsciously want to belong. In the primal ages of humans, the only way we could survive was by belonging in a tribe. This instinct is in our DNA and is why we have cultures, religion, patterns and beliefs.

If you as a practitioner “fix others” and know you are hiding your own unresolved issues...

If your family system is no longer working, if you have inherited anger, fear... it is possible to release using Trans-‐Generational-‐Trauma release techniques.

It is your birthright to be safe and trust your life again.

Today I bring you a simple yet powerful Trans-‐ Generational-‐Trauma release technique.

But you can start now and make a brand new future.

Science has proven that we not only inherit biological and physical elements, we also inherit beliefs and patterns of behavior through our DNA. An example: Trauma of the Holocaust victims shows in the DNA of their children. As success comes to people they frequently have difficulty holding it because families, whether you have grown up in one or not, have an impact on you at a biological level. If you have a thief stealing your dreams...if you received a diagnosis that turned your physical and emotional world upside-‐down!

If you are living with the pain of your innocence being violated...the sting of being haunted with the memory of cruelty or regret.

You cannot go back and make a brand new beginning.

I’ve helped hundreds of people from early childhood to the aged to change the energy within their heart chakra the result, a better life. Just before you go to bed have a large glass of water. Tonight and every night, just before you go to sleep – close your eyes and imagine a smile flowing from your heart to every person you have ever loved and to every person who has ever loved you. If at any time you feel a resistance imagine putting that resistance onto a fluffy white cloud and surrender it to the energies of the universe...and drift to sleep. My work connects you to your wisdom and aligns you with your purpose… if you allow. Sylvia Marina, ND

The Assemblage Point By Evelyn Mulders

It was just another subject I knew nothing about when I attended one of my first TFH Conferences back in the beginning of this century. I remember thinking that I’d pick up on that information later; when the time comes. 15 years later, the mystery of assemblage point has piqued my curiosity. It became the subject of discussion while exploring the benefits of using figure eight energy in kinesiology practice. My fellow kinesiologist noticed that the assemblage point was the intersection point of a big figure eight that encompassed the whole body. She believed the figure eight form was small on top and larger on the bottom. I didn’t know and had to check for myself, so using energy scanning I began to check clients’ “figure eights”, looking for the intersection point, which I might assume was the assemblage point. The shape of the two parts of this figure eight were, in fact two different sizes. According to the articles written by Carlos Castaneda PhD, the leading researcher of the assemblage point, the correct location of the assemblage point enters the right side of the chest and penetrates through to the right shoulder blade. If the client’s assemblage point was not in this identified location, we would move the figure eight location, energetically, with our healing

hands. This took dedication, patience, focus and time. So as with the discovery of many of my Sound Essences, I began wondering and experimenting. What if the Infinity Sound Essence, which was designed to support the figure eight energy of the body, would support this life-‐size figure eight? I tried it and it worked; it helped to shift the location of the figure eight closer to where Carlos Castaneda described the location. But something deeper was yet to be discovered. Working with another kinesiologist, we discovered that the assemblage point could be accessed in the hologram. By using two Sound Essences -‐ Infinity and the Flower of Life -‐ (accessing the reference and object points to affect the hologram) one for the 4th etheric band and another for the 5th etheric band, the positioning of the assemblage point corrected. Now begins the journey of finding out why these two vibrations can so profoundly affect the positioning of the assemblage point. (continued next page)

The Body Electric I wonder… 1. If the assemblage point isn’t the intersection point of the life sized figure eight energy surrounding us. 2. That the figure eight loop isn’t in fact a Mobius strip, twisting in the middle to offer the gateway from in to out; so above as below. 3. That the assemblage point is related to our heart chakra. 4. That if the assemblage point isn’t located within the tiny space in our heart related to Drunvalo Melchizedek’s Flower of Life workshop. 5. That the assemblage point is responsible for our electromagnetic field. 6. That the assemblage point creates our toroidal field. What I researched As I got deeper into the research of the pathology of the assemblage point I recognized that there were many signs and symptoms for each dislocated position. For example, if the assemblage point is too far left, possibilities of autism and hallucinations may occur; too far right, panic and anxiety prevail; too far up, hyperactivity and insomnia occur and too far down, we get physically distressed or depressed.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 Approaching this information from our adopted holistic vantage point we can simply “let the body heal itself” by offering the mists of two vibrations into the energy field, realigning the assemblage point into it’s optimum location. It was 2014 when I realized that there was a systematic approach for Sound Essences. The approach was three dimensions: up/ down, front/back and side/side affecting the three dimensions of the human body. The meridians running up and down in the body that support the physical aspect of ourselves: Meridian Vitalizers. The chakras affected in the front and back of our body and support the emotional aspect of ourselves: Chakra Balancers. The auric field which expands out from our body, offers side/side support of the spiritual aspect of ourselves: Aura Harmonizers. So to perfectly affect all three dimensions a Sound Essence mister would be chosen for each of the three dimensions. Once the three dimensional system was conveyed, new information steadily streamed in. The hologram was discovered, now finding the object and reference point of each of the three dimensions. Now consider the object point being in the meridians and the reference point in the chakras. That was the information needed to expand us into the fifth dimension with the Archangel Blessings.

The Body Electric

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

It was the culmination of all this information that led to the idea that the assemblage point could be balanced in the hologram with two Sound Essence remedies. What’s unique is that the object and reference point in the auric field band for the assemblage point are the same for most everyone. It’s the 4th and 5th etheric band.

Fundamental learning Step 3 -‐ Five Dimensions: By understanding the complex hologram with the intersection point located by finding the object chakra point and the reference meridian point we have the possibility of accessing the fifth dimension. (Using the Sound EssenceTM Archangel Blessings)

What about the Hologram?

Fundamental learning Step 4 -‐ The Assemblage Point: By understanding the complex hologram with the intersection point being the 4th and 5th auric field band, we have the possibility of accessing new perception and shifting the assemblage point into it’s optimum position. (Using the Sound EssenceTM Aura Harmonizers Infinity and Flower of LIfe)

Understanding the hologram, “Everything represents everything else in the Universe”, is a big jump in awareness, but its’ potential for helping us shift our vibration is insurmountable. So when you have a coordinate, found by the intersection of object/ reference point you have a target to affect the hologram. There’s an idea that by finding the intersection point of imbalance in any of the energy fields (meridians, chakras and auric field bands) that one can target the imbalance in the hologram which when corrected can shift the DNA imprint in the body. This contributes to shifting our perception allowing us to leave our mental and emotional baggage from the 3rd dimension at the door, soaring to 4th and 5th dimension consciousness. What I know Fundamental learning Step 1 -‐ Three Dimensions: By understanding that all three dimensions, body, mind and soul need to be supported we affect the three dimensional aspect of the body. (Using one Sound EssenceTM Meridian Vitalizer, one Sound EssenceTM Chakra Balancer, one Sound EssenceTM Aura Harmonizer) Fundamental learning Step 2 -‐ Four Dimensions: By understanding the simple hologram with the object and reference point for intersection of each of the three energy systems; the meridian, chakras and auric field band we affect the potential of accessing the fourth dimension. (using two each at the same time of Sound EssenceTM Meridian Vitalizers, two Sound EssenceTM Chakra Balancers, two Sound EssenceTM Aura Harmonizers)

What others have written: Dr Angela Blaen The assemblage point is one of the most fascinating aspects of every human being. We all have one. It affects everything about us – our appearance, our intelligence, our mood, our health, our way of experiencing the world, our response to ourselves, the environment, our interaction and relationships with others, our achievements, our beliefs and spirituality, our decisions. Yet most of us have never heard of the assemblage point and are unaware that we have one. Over one hundred years ago science demonstrated that surrounding every proton is a cloud of electrons. This means that everything in the material universe, including the human body, is electrical energy. It is a scientific fact that energy systems are assembled from an epicentre. Galaxies, stars, planets, molecules and atoms are all energy systems that oscillate and, because they are oscillating, they all have a centre of rotation. The human body is a complex electrical energy system but, over a century later, its electrical properties have largely been ignored by medical science. Therefore, it is not surprising that conventional medical science has yet to recognize

The Body Electric the existence of the epicentre of the human energy system, which is called the assemblage point… Jon Whale “Every living person has an oscillating energy field and scientifically and, in reality, all of us have an energy epicentre. The human energy field epicentre is a very bright spot of high energy that the trained person can feel or see. The vortex or epicentre of the human energy system is called the Assemblage Point of man… The position of the assemblage point is directly related to predominant brain frequencies. Its’ location dictates the patient’s vibrational rate. Healthy cells glands and organs have an optimum vibrational rate and resilience to infections. Shifting the location up and over to the center will immediately alleviate symptoms. Vibrational levels will increase; more energy will be available if physiological disease is already present. The natural healing process will accelerate.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 1.Parasites were indicated on the biopulsar and after the assemblage point was affected with the two Sound Essence sprays, there was no trace of the parasites. 2. Great trauma in the chest and armpit area was detected by the biopulsar and after the two Sound Essence sprays were used to affect the assemblage point, the pain dissipated and healing was taking place in the trauma area.

The Balance Assessment: 1. Check location of the assemblage point up and down on the front of the body 2. Check location of the assemblage point side to side on the front of the body 3. Check location of the assemblage point up and down on the back of the body 4. Check location of the assemblage point side to side on the back of the body

Tyhson Banighen

5. Notice the angle of entry and exit front and back

“The Assemblage Point (AP) is a tube-‐like bundle of light energy contained within our energy field, which flows through the front and back of the energy vortex known as the Heart Chakra. Situated within this heart centre, the AP is known to be the “Seat of our Consciousness.” Many indigenous peoples are aware of the AP and use it as part of their healing modalities. It is a very powerful tool to have in your own medicine bag.”

Balance: Take the Sound Essence Aura Harmonizer Infinity spray, in the right hand and take the Sound Essence Aura Harmonizer Flower of Life spray in the left hand and mist both simultaneously above and in front of the head side to side and front to back. Walk into the falling mist.

What I discovered

Recheck location as above: up/down, side/side, both front and back, as well as angle of entry.

That by affecting the Assemblage Point first and then checking the three dimensions and correcting these with Sound Essence remedies had more impact energetically on the body than just balancing the meridian, chakras and auric field. The proof came through on the biopulsar.

Energy Balancing with Gemstones By Robert Frost, PhD

A male colleague, the Swiss Alexander Technique teacher Erwin Möckli, took a week-‐long course with a native American shaman. After the training, the old shaman recommended that Erwin carry four gemstones in his pocket, rose quartz, jasper, amethyst and moss agate. Erwin knew that I am a stone cutter and jeweler so he asked me if I had those four stones. When I told him that I did, he said, “Bring them and let’s see what they do.” I tested his muscles and found five that tested weak. Then I put the four recommended gemstones in his hand and tested the five muscles that had failed the first tests. With the gemstones in his hand, all five tested strong! When he put them down, they again tested weak. I was flabbergasted! How could this be? The mere touch of the gemstones improved his sensory awareness and fine motor response to the muscle tests. Applied Kinesiology teaches that the muscles are indicators for the function of the related meridians and organs. So making muscles test strong can have a positive effect upon health and optimal functioning. Gemstones may be utilized to strengthen weak testing muscles and thereby to positively affect the related meridians and perhaps even their corresponding organs. I am both a stone cutter/jeweler and an Alexander Technique teacher. At the time I made my first gemstone discoveries, I worked at home making jewelry and also worked at a medical clinic. At the clinic, I provided various forms of physical and psychological therapy plus taught the patients how to have better posture and use of their bodies. Until this moment, my two professions as a jeweler and a therapist were quite separate. Suddenly, with the discovery that gemstones can balance muscle tone and improve the functions of the psyche, my two quite separate careers overlapped. After this discovery, the prospect of using gemstones therapeutically possessed me! I pushed and pulled on my friends’ and clients’ arms and legs while testing over a thousand different kinds of gemstones. (Continued) Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com

The Body Electric There is much nonsense in the field of healing with gemstones Before this time, the idea of using gemstones therapeutically had not occurred to me. Oh, I had heard about “healing with gemstones” but had not taken it seriously. I considered the field to be filled with new age airheads and much nonsense. My slight reading in that area brought me to the conclusion that the field of healing with gemstones was filled with more “woo-‐woo” esoteric nonsense than science. Now, the results of my own experiments forced me to reconsider my prejudiced position. Most of the books on gemstone healing explain the effect of gemstones in this way, “Gemstones have an electromagnetic field that radiates out and positively affects us.” I have a scientific background with university degrees in psychology, biology and physics. I put my most sensitive electromagnetic field meters to my gemstones. There is no electromagnetic field around them at all! This is one of my pet peeves. People who voice scientific concepts inaccurately to make statements that are just not true irritate me. Their inaccurate conclusions close their minds. This prevents them, and others who believe them, from serious scientific efforts to find the truth. By accepting half-‐baked scientific sounding nonsense, they don’t bother to find out what’s really going on.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 Scientifically proving my thesis After extensive research and double blind studies demonstrated to me the validity of my findings, I applied to City University, Los Angeles for a doctorate degree. There, the prospective overseer of my project was very skeptical. He didn’t know if this should be in the field of psychology, biology or mineralogy! At first, he rejected my theme. I asked permission to muscle test him. He was a tall and very strong man. His front shoulder muscle (Anterior Deltoid) tested strong – so strong that I could have probably put most of my whole body weight upon his arm without it moving. He could also hold his straightened leg up to the front (using the muscles in the front of his leg and his Abdominal muscles) against my test pressure. Then, I tested his arm and his opposite leg at the same time. His strength failed. He could not resist the double test pressure and his arm tested extremely weak. I n Applied Kinesiology, this double test of arm plus opposite leg is called “gait testing”. The gaits are patterns of locomotion of the four limbs. These are more easily visible in animals that walk on four legs. The timing of the four legs changes as the speed increases. The four gaits of a horse are, in order of increasing speed: walk, canter, trot and then gallop. You can see the four gaits of a horse here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifKU_kVQhd4

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 the double gait test. With the Fluorite, both his leg and arm tested very strong. I had him put the Fluorite down and repeated the test. His arm (Anterior Deltoid) tested weak even with a very gentle pressure. Extremely flustered and blushing strongly this time, he blurted out, “But this is not magic or occultism! This is just some kind of science that we don’t yet understand!” My demonstration put his scientific belief system in question and he was defending it strongly.

Anterior gait test

In humans, only the anterior gait is easily visible. In the normal gait pattern, when a human takes a step forward, the opposite arm swings forward at the same time. The double muscle test of arm and opposite leg tests this gait coordination. When the anterior gait tests weak, the subject will be less able to step out from where he is and move forward toward his desired goal. This is an example of one of my personal additions as a psychologist to the field of Applied Kinesiology: the typical psychological effects of particular muscle imbalances. Balancing the gaits enables subjects to more easily make creative changes that they have desired in their lives. They are more able to overcome inertia and all the reasons “why not” that have been holding them back from fulfillment and success in their endeavors. With the gaits turned on, they can actually do what they choose.

I agreed with him and said, “Some kind of science that we do not yet understand… isn’t that what the theme of a doctorate thesis should explore?” He looked bewildered for a moment, wrinkled his brow, looked from side to side and then agreed… and accepted my theme for a doctorate thesis. It felt good – defending my topic by demonstrating its validity upon his own disbelieving body. I completed my thesis upon The Effect of Gemstones on Human Neurological Functioning and received my doctorate in Psychology with Studies in Applied Kinesiology in 1991. With it I put some scientific verification into the field of healing with gemstones. Gemstones reliably balance Yin but not Yang meridians Further research led to the discovery of specific gemstones that strengthen the muscles associated with each of the Yin meridians (Heart, Circulculation-‐Sex, Spleen, Lung, Kidney and Liver) and also the Central meridian.

I tested his Anterior Deltoid alone again and demonstrated how strongly he could resist. Then I had him lift his opposite leg while I tested the Anterior Deltoid -‐ this time with just two fingers. He couldn’t resist even my slight pressure. I asked him, “Do you notice that something is not functioning optimally with your neurology just now?” Although he was black, I noticed he was blushing as he replied, “Yes”. Then I put a Fluorite into his hand and repeated Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com

The Body Electric

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

But I have not yet found a single instance of a gemstone that universally balances a Yang meridian (Small Intestine, Triple Heater, Stomach, Large Intestine, Bladder or Gall Bladder). Why I’ve located specific gemstones that balance each of the Yin but none of the Yang meridians, I don’t know. Gemstones do balance Yang meridians. Almost always, I can find a gemstone that balances an individual subject’s Yang meridian muscles. But I have found no correlation between subjects. The gemstone that balances one person’s Yang, Stomach meridian and its associated Pectoralis Major Clavicular muscle, will not work for another subject with the same imbalance. Gemstones are not a panacea It is not suggested that merely carrying meridian balancing gemstones will solve your health problems.

Determining and correcting their causes is required. But gemstones can provide a powerful crutch, giving your energy system a powerful buffer against the debilitating effects of stress of all kinds. With a properly tested gemstone, you will have an increased capacity to handle stress without going out of energetic balance. With it, you will stay more coordinated and think more clearly, too. Gemstones can indeed be excellent “stress busters”. The gemstones that balance meridians are common Only a very small number of gemstones have been found to have any effect upon the meridian system and the results of muscle testing. Luckily, most of the ones that do are common, inexpensive minerals that are readily available. Only a few are rare and expensive. For example, fine specimens of Chrysoberyl, Sugilite, Precious Topaz and Jade can be quite expensive.

The Body Electric However, lower quality specimens of these are available for very little cost and are just as effective for this work. For a particular gemstone to work strengthening muscles, it doesn’t need to be beautiful or flawless. It only needs to be genuine. Gemstones don’t need to be large to balance meridians and strengthen muscles For a gemstone to strengthen a meridian and its muscles, it needs to weigh a minimum of about five carats, or one gram. For most stones, that’s about ¼” cubic in size. Chrysoberyl is an exception. A tiny Chrysoberyl can have profound effects. For Chrysoberyl to strengthen the muscles of the Circulation-‐Sex meridian, it only needs to be about a big as this “o”. To be effective, gemstones need to be close to the body Gemstones will strengthen their associated meridians as long as they are within ¼” of the body. Direct contact with the skin is not necessary. Placing them in a pocket works fine, even through the fabric of your clothing. Meridian balancing gemstones do not work when placed upon the upper chest To strengthen muscles, gemstones may be placed anywhere upon or near the body with one exception. For some unknown reason, meridian balancing gemstones do not work when they are placed upon an approximately four inch circular area located upon the upper ⅔ of the breast bone. In fact, when meridian balancing gemstones are placed upon that area, most or all of the meridians are put into a state of excess energy which results in many muscles testing weak. And this is where people like to wear gemstones as pendants! Only meridian balancing gemstones disturb the meridian energy when worn there. The great majority of gemstones have no effect upon the results of muscle testing and may be worn there with no negative effect.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 Some gemstones block the positive effects of others In many instances, there are gemstones that interfere with the effect of other ones. For example, Beryl of all colors (Aquamarine, Emerald, Heliodor…) counteracts the effect of Fluorite. When a subject wears an Aquamarine, Fluorite will not balance the gaits. This implies that just carrying a bag of many different gemstones may not be an effective strategy. Useful arrows in your therapeutic quiver that yield better results After an energy balancing session, subjects typically are in a positive state of mind and intend to make the changes in their lifestyle that the examiner recommended. However, as soon as the first major stress situation arises, they lose their energetic balance and their motivation to make changes. Getting subjects to do their “homework” is one of the greatest challenges for the kinesiologist. In my work with patients in a Swiss medical clinic, I observed that patient engagement and compliance increase when the subject carries the gemstone that balances his meridians. Why might this be? With the gemstone, the subject can withstand far more stress and still remain in energetic balance. This not only improves his coordination. It also makes it easier for him to think clearly and remain in a positive state of mind. Because of this, he is more likely to remember and actually makes the lifestyle changes recommended for his health and optimal functioning. Pioneering Kinesiology in Guatemaya By Louise Rothwell

Opening Kinesiology to a new region brings with it many rewards but it can also be a challenge. I am sure the pioneers of Kinesiology in North America, Europe and Australia can relate to this from those heady days of the seventies and eighties when Kinesiology began. In Spanish they say in order to start anything new you have to machete the land first, “machetear el terreno”, to make it ready to plant the seeds, or in this case to plant Kinesiology. I tried to do this for many years with the nationals of Central America, but it was not to be, they were not interested, the natural health revolution simply hadn’t happened here. After various frustrating attempts I decided that when they were ready to embrace Kinesiology, it would just happen naturally and that I couldn’t force it. So from 2003 to 2011 instead I taught registered Touch for Health classes to foreigners visiting Guatemala, mostly backpackers travelling the world. It was an international qualification so they could carry on when they got back home. I always had a niggle though, and however worthwhile, the knowledge wasn’t staying in the country, it was flying back to Europe, the States, Australia and even Japan!

I have been living as a permanent resident in Guatemaya for 19 years. Many of us prefer to call it Guatemaya as Guatemala translates in Spanish as Guatebad. It is a beautiful country of majestic volcanoes and mystical lakes, jungles and Mayan temples, and to top it all off a perfect year round climate. All this plus interacting with the friendliest people alive makes it an appealing place to live. You could say where I live in a small Mayan village (population 2000) on the shores of Lake Atitlan is very “Back to Basics.” When I first came here there was no electricity, no road, no shops, no doctor, I lived with only candles for 5 years and there were only 4 boats a day into and out of the village. It was everything I had always wanted helped along of course by my main reason to stay, a new Guatemalan husband! Of course, nineteen years later the situation in the village has have changed a lot, we have become much more “civilized” but the village still retains its rustic charm and stunning natural beauty.

What about the Guatemalans? The Salvadoreans? The Hondurans? The Nicaraguans? The Costa Ricans? Every day I could see so much need around me, but if they didn’t want to learn what could I do? Specialized Kinesiology Magazine, www.gemskinesiology.com

The Body Electric I so wanted to share my Kinesiology skills with my Mayan neighbours in San Marcos La Laguna. Not so much in giving balances although that has happened many times, but in sharing simple and natural ways for them to take care of their health. Poverty, a high infant mortality rate, hunger, illiteracy, cooking over a fire (smoke inhalation), fear of hospitals (often with good reason) and low paid manual labour pays its toll on the local families. Children often don’t have the opportunity for even a primary education as their parents need them to go out and collect firewood or take care of their younger siblings while the father plants and tends his corn in the fields and the mother makes the daily tortillas. Daily life here can be very rough and raw. Malnutrition obviously leads to poor health. The locals avoid hospitals at all cost and they think of them as only places to go and die. Honestly after seeing and hearing of their experiences in local hospitals I don’t blame them for this assumption. So for every ailment they experience they go instead to their small, local pharmacy (no qualified pharmacist) to get a shot of antibiotics in their rear end. Antibiotics are available over the counter, they are relatively cheap, at least the low spectrum variety, no need for a prescription. This has led to an unqualified overuse and subsequent destruction of many a digestive system. Gastritis is endemic where I live. People here are concerned only with the daily bread of life, or more correctly the daily “tortilla” of life, they are busy surviving and they don’t have the time or desire to learn Kinesiology, something for them that so far has no relevance in their lives.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

Something interesting happened here energetically in the famous year of 2012. Guatemala is the central part of the Mayan lands formerly known as Mesoamerica which reach up into the South of Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula, encompass the whole of Guatemala and extend down into parts of Honduras and El Salvador. In Guatemala alone there are 22 different Mayan languages and ethnic groups. For us Westerners the Mayan lands conjure up images of an ancient civilization famed for its endeavours in astronomy and mathematics, Mayan shamans and without doubt its world famous calendar. As the 21st December 2012 approached the world focused its attention on Guatemaya and many people came seeking the wisdom of the elders as the 13th baktun came to an end. It was an interesting and exciting time to be here and there were some interesting energetic dynamics that took place within the country.

The Mayan calendar long cycle ended in December 2012 and I had advertised a TFH 1 class in Guatemala City for January 2013. Suddenly I had people clamouring to be the first ones to assure their place on the course. 41 students signed up, mostly Guatemalans but from other countries in the region too. The room could only hold 20, so I gave it twice. Even though most people in Guatemala City paid little attention to the end of the Mayan cycle it was clear to me that an energetic revolution had taken place. It was time, now they were knocking on my door, they wanted to study. It still hadn’t happened in my village but if I needed to go on a four hour journey in a chicken bus to the capital city then so be it, at least the knowledge would stay in the country. Since then there has been no looking back. The land has been “macheted” and Kinesiology is most definitely planted in Central America.

Perceptual Bodywork is the brainchild of Natalie Davenport. We all have our special person that put us on our Kinesiology pathway and she is mine. Natalie was the first TFH faculty member and instructor trainer for the UK. She held this position for about 10 years and was one of the principal pioneers in clearing the land and planting Kinesiology in the UK. She was the first person in England to be taught Applied Kinesiology and is one of the honoured elders of TFH in England. Natalie also played a key role in establishing standards and recognized training routes in the Kinesiology profession as European legislation pushed for regulation in many alternative medicine modalities. Perceptual Bodywork or Percepción Corporal as we call it in Spanish is a full professional training in the UK, recognised as such by the UK Kinesiology Federation.

Over the last years I have trained 163 students in TFH, most of them completing all the levels. In 2015-‐16 I spent 16 months training students from different parts of Central America and Cuba in Creative Kinesiology. Creative Kinesiology is one of the main Kinesiology schools in the UK and it includes two fully recognised professional specialized kinesiology routes; Perceptual Bodywork and The Way of the Tracker. The school also has teachers in Germany, France and Portugal. The Creative Kinesiology School has with the Perceptual Bodywork course in Guatemala stretched its wings to cross the ocean to the Americas. Translating everything from English into Spanish took years and a lot of dedication but it is done now and it has opened up this wonderful healing modality to the whole of Latin America and Spain.

When choosing your professional kinesiology route it can sometimes be overwhelming with so many choices and ways to go. In 2003, whilst already living in Guatemala, I went back to England to do my first TFH Instructor Training Workshop. There were about 20 professional Kinesiologists in the class, all with different specialities, so I used the opportunity to try them all out and received various balances from my co-‐ students. It was clear to me after that week that Creative Kinesiology was the one for me. I will never forget the moment of joy when I turned to Natalie and said, “I would love to study Creative Kinesiology, but I live in Guatemala and can hardly commute from there.” Her reply was, “get a group together and I will come to you.” The rest is history as they say.

Creative Kinesiology developed in the 1980s as a way of building on the fundamentals of Touch for Health and its approach aims to help people overcome deep seated emotional, physical and energetic patterns and to assist them in achieving their goals. The focus in Perceptual Bodywork (PB) training is on increasing sensory awareness, developing intuition and the supra sense, as well as expressing professionalism and creativity in the giving and receiving of the large spectrum of techniques. For me PB is a beautiful blend of the solid science of AK with its structural, nutritional, emotional and electro-‐magnetic dynamics but at the same time it emphasizes the importance of tuning in to the information at a deep, intuitive level in order to integrate all of the changes into the body. PB is about the interconnectedness of all creation, the one, the necessity of experiencing unity. We learn to use the senses to connect with the silence. For me it is conscious kinesiology, healing the body and soul in its totality. One of the main premises of PB is that given that the body is our temple, anything that occurs in our life will thus be reflected in it. Without our body we would not be able to experience all the other levels as humans. A PB balance is about honouring the body and respecting its huge potential. Of course the body can benefit from what we think, feel and do as well, but it can also become our recognition of who, why and what we are. PB is about re-‐“membering” and re-‐“minding” us of where we come from. Thirty six students from around Central America embarked on the Perceptual Bodywork training in June 2015 and last September nineteen of them graduated as fully qualified, specialized Kinesiologists. This week one of my students will go to Mexico to do her TFH Instructor Training. Others wished to go but as a Guatemalan can’t travel to Mexico without a complicated and expensive visa process they were refused entry. I have achieved my goals. Kinesiology is firmly planted in Central America and hopefully will continue to grow healthily over the next years. My hope is that one day, further down the line, Kinesiology will reach my village and offer an alternative to the antibiotic jab in the gluteus maximus. The Body Electric It has been a long and interesting journey personally and professionally for me. Pioneering a new area is not always easy but is so incredibly worthwhile and rewarding. John Thie’s message about lighting a candle for others has always been close to my heart. I would love to think that together as a community, we can extend John Thie’s vision even further and reach out to countries where Kinesiology hasn’t been established yet. Most of the focus these days seems to be on defining, regulating and maintaining professional standards for Kinesiology practitioners and teaching but I think it is important that there be room in the international organizations for grass roots Kinesiology, bare footed Kinesiologists in the developing world. It is time to bridge social, economic and often political differentials and realise that not all societies function in the same way despite mass globalization. Systems are great. We need them. They do however need to be flexible. To put this comment into a Guatemalan Kinesiology context for you I include some examples of how it has been difficult for me to fit into the “system.” First off, I have only had internet at home for about three years and even then with frequent power cuts and a wobbly weather dependent signal it is very touch and go. The first TFH certificate that I downloaded as the IKC moved from paper certificates to digital ones, took over an hour to pass from the uploaded student information to the PDF to be printed off. With over thirty students in my class that year it took over 30 hours to get their certificates for each level! Even now I still have to overcome some practical difficulties that probably cannot even be imagined at Kinesiology headquarters. Drought has meant I have had no running water for the last 5 months. If we don’t even have water, services such as Paypal simply do not exist in Guatemala.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017 With no credit cards it is a great struggle to send money to Mexico to pay for the royalties on certificates and manuals. Three yearly Instructor updates are another issue involving expensive travel outside of the country to maintain our licenses. International Kinesiology conferences would I am sure be a pleasure to attend but international flights, hotel and conference fees would be like a year’s salary here. I believe strongly in a pro rata payment system, it is in place in some ways such as certificate prices, but when it comes to fees for faculty there was no pro rata option in place. My proposal to do this was strongly rejected in the IKC over ten years ago, I hope it has changed now, but it meant no Faculty for Guatemala, I couldn’t accept the contradiction. To my thinking developing countries need to be encouraged to join the large international Kinesiology associations. They won’t always be able to follow the rules exactly as in the West, it wouldn’t work for them, but that doesn’t mean they should be excluded. Look down the present list of countries included in the Kinesiology associations, think about it, what do you notice they have in common? Let us use the energy of this new Mayan time cycle to strive to make Kinesiology available to people the whole world over. As I learned in Guatemaya timing is everything and the time is now.

Building a Community with Facebook With Helena Arguelles, By Alexis Costello There are many Facebook groups designed to connect practitioners. One of the most interesting groups however is the ‘Touch for Health UK’ group. Created by Helena Arguelles in November of 2014, the group now boasts nearly 900 international members. If you look at the group on any given day, you are likely to see instructors posting their upcoming classes or group photos of the class they just completed, questions from newer students about how to use a certain technique or what might work in a given situation, and people looking to find a practitioner or instructor in a certain locale; all being commented on and shared by a huge group of passionate people. How did this fabulous online community come to be? Helena and I meet online to discuss the group: how it started, where it’s going and why it is important. “I (like you Alexis), am a great believer in sharing,” Helena says. “The more people who are doing this work the better, so the more I can support people doing this, the better for me personally.” Before the group was formed, Helena was sharing people’s events, classes and experiences on her Facebook Timeline (her personal profile and information that would be visible to her friends), but after awhile she wanted it to be bigger and more formal. She spoke with others from the UK, put together a logo and started up the group. People were really excited, encouraged others to join, and the rest is history.

In order to make it work properly, it was important for Helena to have a clear idea of how she wanted it to be and to work. A main purpose of the group is to allow people to stay in contact. As I have said before in this journal, it can be lonely in this field. A group such as this allows for easy connection and communication, across time zones and from the comfort of your own home. While it is no substitute for the amazing feeling of camaraderie you get at a conference or professional day, every little bit helps! She wanted it to be a place where people would feel empowered; where they could share their success and receive positive feedback and also a place of support. “Because we all have those moments where we doubt or we have a question or we don’t know what we’re doing!” In the beginning the group meant a lot of work for Helena; posting, responding and getting rid of posts that might be lovely, but didn’t belong there. She knew that she wanted it to be Touch For Health centered, so when people would post things from other modalities, (other kinesiology classes, positive affirmations etc.), these were removed. She feels that this limitation is part of why the group works so well and helps to keep the timeline relevant, professional and to the point. As the group has evolved however, she now hardly has to do this at all. (continued)

This group identity is a positive shift. Rather than Helena always being the one to answer everyone’s questions, now she can trust that others are supporting, answering and responding to each other. “In the UK – and this is an acknowledgement of Sandy Gannon our faculty – we have really great support mechanisms and support in seeing students through from Level One right to Professional. We have mentoring groups, advanced training, lots of practice groups… there is a lot going on and this is an extension of that. This has become the ‘go-‐to’ place to find what’s going on. There really is a sense that we’re all in this together. I walk into a workshop and I know everybody there even though I may never have actually met them!”

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

So what goals does Helena have for this group in the future? One would be for people to invite their friends to join, even if they are new to TFH or have never taken a class but are interested. The other, “for people to be braver. To ask more questions and seek support. To ‘fess up to not being confident or always knowing the answers. To allow us to support them because this is a safe place.” She would also like to see more people posting their personal experiences of Touch for Health; sharing their amazing balances or personal journey with a group that gives “permission to feel whatever it is they are feeling. It’s not the forum to gush or spout their baggage, but some personal stories would be great.”

To anyone wanting to start a group like this, the advice would be to ask the same questions you do with any marketing campaign: why are you doing this? What is your purpose? Who is your audience? Being incredibly clear about what you are doing and why and who it serves. And then of course, put in the work to actually get it going. There is a new Instructors group as well, which came out of the last update as something that would be beneficial and is currently sitting around 100 members. Helena is clear that this isn’t about her but the community and her final thoughts on the subject swing back towards the group again. “I’m just really happy that people are using it, so big ‘thank-‐you’ and big shout out to all the members!”

Manifest the life of your dreams… with whole foods? by Kate Young, RHN

I’ve been adventuring into the world of intention, vibration and yes, even manifestation lately. It’s taken me to some really neat places: conscious business circles, manifesting rituals, books on coincidence, workshops on sound essences, Facebook rabbit holes…you know. But it has also got me thinking. Wondering if we, (you know, the royal we, the people) could manifest the lives of our dreams by eating a nutritionally dense, powerhouse diet of whole foods. If you’re thinking manifesting and nutrition have zero to do with each other, let me show you how I arrived at this (possible) conclusion. I am a nutritionist; an RHN, or Registered Holistic Nutritionist, to be exact. Holistic wellness is a practice of seeing the body as a whole, not a set of unrelated symptoms or systems; seeing the person as a whole being and engaging them as such when delving into what may be making them feel a little off kilter in their bodies or lives. Body, Mind, Soul or Physical, Emotional, Spiritual. 3 sides of the triangle. All sides must be attended to and maintained to keep one feeling as well and uplifted as possible. Therefore, it makes sense that I am also a SIPS and Touch for Health practitioner. I can cover more than one side of the triangle each and every time I work with someone, which allows for greater shifts in energy and mentality, and more solid upswings to the feelings of awesome that we all crave and deserve. (continued next page)

The Body Electric Diving into the world of SIPS was an exciting and aha-‐moment inducing experience. It made so many other parts of the puzzle make more sense. If you like woo-‐woo type experiences then SIPS is for you…if, like me, you are a super nerd and like it when science is dropping the knowledge, then SIPS is for you. Either way, SIPS is for you! In SIPS we learn about the Body Electric; the fact that our bodies produce electric currents that flow on pre-‐ determined routes (meridians), can be fed or discharged by transduction points (chakras) that traffic universal energy, and then produce human electromagnetic fields around us (auric fields). So, these currants ‘can’ be fed by chakra points, but where is this initial energy coming from? Well, within the cell of course! In his book “The Secret of Life”, George Lakhovsky proposes that the nucleus of a living cell may be compared to an electrical oscillating circuit. An oscillating circuit only needs a very small amount of initial energy to set it in electrical vibration and then it oscillates at its natural frequency. So as we grow and form into little human beings at the point of conception, each cell’s nucleus is gifted a tiny bit of energy and they are all off and running. In the Human Body Energy Model created by Ian Stubbings, these teeny weeny electrical circuits can be continuously fed, or kept oscillating, by universal energies as well as other external sources such as water, oxygen and…nutrients from food!! You knew I was getting back to the food somehow didn’t you? Essentially, a cell takes in energy from the world around us as well as our own internal processes such as metabolizing nutrients, and creates electricity and magnetism to put out an electrical current. Each cell is oscillating, or vibrating, at it’s own frequency. A cell vibrating at its own appropriately highest frequency is a happy, healthy cell. A human body and mind comprised of cells that are vibrating at their own appropriately highest frequencies is, therefore, a happy, healthy human.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

Food in fact has a frequency range of 0-‐15 Hz.

Nourishment of the cells is one way to keep them vibrating at the top of their game. Providing the body with clean water and whole, un-‐processed foods that are right for the individual flood us with nutrients at the cellular level to keep everything working the way it should and, therefore, keep us in happy, healthy, wellness. Electrical vibration is life force, chi. Our cells vibrate, our energy systems vibrate and the same goes for the plants and animals that we use to nourish our physical and energetic selves. If we think about the life force a fresh, organic peach straight off the tree or an ooey-‐gooey sweet spoonful of local, raw bee love will offer to our body systems compared to a rancid oil soaked plate of deep fried used-‐to-‐be-‐ food, we can start to see how nutrition can influence vibrational energy. It seems to me that if we constantly assault our electrical frequencies with low or even non-‐frequency ‘foods’ we are doomed to become low or non-‐frequency beings. Evelyn Mulders said, the whole world is frequency and we can gather nourishment from it. Food in fact has a frequency range of 0-‐15 Hz. Fresh produce vibrates at up to 15 Hz whereas, canned and processed foods come in at the exact opposite end. Zero. No life force left due to adulteration. Although even the high end of that scale is not a super high vibration, every little bit counts. So adding in as many 15 Hz foods as possible seems like a darn good energetic insurance plan.

Issue 03, Spring, 2017

Of course, 80/20 is my jam. 80% of your time be on top of your game; the other 20 just let it all go. Sometimes that giant double chocolate cookie with your favourite coffee at your favourite local café is way too lovely and soul warming to pass up. Some days you feel you just neeeed that. You probably do. Something about that may support your Sacral chakra, which is associated with feeling, pleasure and sexuality (double chocolate? Sexy.). So let it go. Eat your chocolate and drink your coffee to make you feel good on that one level. You can always drink lemon water and steam a ton of broccoli for dinner! Specific foods themselves also associate with specific chakras and meridians so we can see where nutrition acts directly to strengthen our electrical circuitry. That peach from earlier directly strengthens that Sacral chakra, so there are now two ways to support one energy point. The feeling you get from your guilty pleasures or that fresh peach that nourishes you so. Amazing! ‘Raising your vibration’ is a well known tactic of everyone from wellness gurus and yogis to life coaches and manifestors for thriving and bringing positive life experiences into one’s world. Most people think of achieving this goal in terms of vibrational therapies like meditation, positive thoughts, chakra balancing, affirmations, doing unto others, and the like, but we never talk about the very physical aspect. That other side of the triangle. If food nourishes our cells to keep them oscillating at their highest frequency, and great manifestations come from asking for outcomes or states of being whilst keeping in our highest vibration….then nourishment through whole foods and balanced nutrition should bring you the life of your dreams…plus, great food just down right makes you feel yummy…how’s that for good vibrations? Kate Young is a holistic nutritionist and SIPS practitioner living and practicing in Kelowna, BC. She completed formal nutritional training at Canadian School of Natural Nutrition as well as with Alive Academy, and training in the energy modalities of SIPS, Touch for Health and Sound Essences. Kate believes we all, each and every one of us, have the power to take control of our own health, rise above dis-‐ease and maintain balance. She firmly maintains that investing yourself and your energies in a whole food based diet and holistic lifestyle can do amazing things in support of your journey to wellness! Kate can use nutrition, energy work, supplement knowledge and sound essences to bring alignment to body and mind, as well as release stuck pain and fortify life goals. She can also teach sound essence workshops as well as kombucha making. When Kate isn’t practicing or working she can be found surrounding herself with loved ones (including cuddling her baby daughter, and kitties O llie and Sammie), furthering her learning in a ll things whole, getting her yoga on, reading, walking in the sunshine, making kombucha or playing around in the kitchen.
