CHANGE My first "new to me" bike was a 2005 Ducati Monster 620 Dark. I was drawn to its clean, less is more, aesthetics. The naked, cafe racer, streetfighter vibe was everything to me at the time. While there were other naked bikes on the market at the time, it was the Miguel Angel Galluzzi design of the Monster that was everything to me. And the ride... Oh, the ride was so good. It was the perfect bike for me at the time. As years went by, subtle changes to the Monster platform occurred in style and performance. All upgrades and improvements. But the Monster remained undeniably, a Monster.
grey area. Either you do or you don't. What I find interesting that a motorcycle can hold such an embrace on so many different riders, for so many different reasons, that any nudge of change is tantamount to sacrilege. The industry of motorcycles is one of constant metamorphosis. Change is the process. You start at one point and you then proceed to evolve. Technology. Design, Engineering. Elements that spark evolution and often revolution. And while my riding style and physical stature may demand more from a bike these days, I see the purpose and point of Ducati's new monster. Change is good. Stagnation is not.
The new 2021 Ducati Monster is very polarizing. Across social media, they are Best, those that love it, and there are those that Allan hate it. There really is no in-between, no @mrblackmoses 12 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | APRIL 2021
