THE ANTHEM ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE FROM RYVID

RYVID DEBUTS AND IS NOW TAKING PRE-ORDERS

FOR ITS OFFER TO THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE MOTOWORLD WITH ITS ANTHEM MOTORCYCLE.

Ryvid, known for its work in inventive EV mobility, is now opening pre-orders for the Anthem E. The Anthem itself is a new take on two-wheeled transportation with its integrated rear drive unit, removable battery pack (for easy charging), and Ergo-Easy seat which can be adjusted to fit different riders' heights, all of which sit upon an ultra-lightweight monocoque chassis.

Ryvid claims that its Anthem is the world's first electric motorcycle that combines modern aerospace technology with easy-to-use EV architecture. It can reach speeds of up to 75 plus mph and travel up to 50 miles on a single charge (75 plus in Sport Mode), making it perfect for commuting or city riding.

The Anthem's sleek bodywork conceals its corrosionfree and lightweight frame, which weighs a total of 240 pounds (175 without the battery) with a carrying capacity of 400 pounds. Additionally, the modular head tube unit enables riders to adjust both the front and rear suspension manually. The Ergo-Easy seat is also electrically adjustable from 30 inches up to 34 inches, so that it can accommodate users of different sizes. Lastly, the 4.9-inch TFT display provides riders with key data such as speed and state of charge in any light conditions for optimal clarity.

Ryvid employs a 4.3 kWh lithium-ion battery on the Anthem that can be charged in three hours on a 220V outlet or six hours on a 110V outlet. The motor is fully enclosed and located in the swingarm, which is made from one piece of die-cast construction with integrated cooling fins to make sure everything runs efficiently.

Improved durability and low maintenance are additional benefits of enclosing the motor and belt drive. The motor output is rated at 53 ft-lb of torque which transfers to the road via a 4.7:1 ratio, delivering up to 250 ft-lb at the final drive.

The "Anthem Launch Edition" will cost $7,800 and is available in three hues; Rapid White, Atomic Gold, and Carbon Grey. The Anthem has a oneyear standard motorcycle warranty for the frame, a two-year power pack warranty, and a limited lifetime guarantee on the chassis. Deliveries are expected to begin in summer 2023. The Anthem Launch Edition will be made available through ryvid.com only in limited quantities of 1,000 units.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON LOW RIDER EL DIABLO

HARLEY-DAVIDSON ADDS TO ITS ICONS COLLECTION WITH THE UNVEILING OF THE LIMITED EDITION LOW RIDER EL DIABLO MODEL.

The Low Rider El Diablo is a style and sport touring performance variant of the iconic Low Rider motorcycle. The Low Rider El Diablo model combines the touring capability of hard bags with a frame-mounted fairing and tight handling characteristics of the HarleyDavidson Softail chassis and V-Twin powerplant.

The Low Rider El Diablo model is based on the Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST bike. The detailed paint job applied by Gunslinger Custom Paint changes the appearance of the Low Rider ST model with the addition of a well-defined paint scheme. A base of El Diablo Bright Red and a second pass of Bright Red Sunglo are used to create the color scheme. To add depth, the red pinstripes are masked off and a layer of El Diablo Dark Red and Dark Red Pearl is faded around the panel lines.

A layer of El Diablo Dark Red Metallic is applied to surround the El Diablo Bright Red color after masking, with a fade effect where the colors meet to create depth. The saddlebags, tank sides, fenders, and fairing are revealed when the masking is removed. Pale Gold pinstripes are then hand-applied inside the El Diablo Bright Red panels. To produce a "candy" look, the El Diablo Bright Red Sunglo includes a tinted clear component. The El Diablo paint scheme is highlighted by accents such as the powertrain, front end, and exhaust in gunmetal gray. The cast-aluminum wheels are painted in contrasting Matte Dark Bronze.

The factory-installed audio of the Low Rider El Diablo model is designed for great performance and a perfect match within the fairing. Harley-Davidson and Rockford Fosgate collaborated on a powerful, intelligent amplifier with digital signal processing (DSP) technology that is meant to perform in severe motorbike conditions. The system includes Bluetooth connectivity and allows you to listen to stored or streaming music

through two built-in two-way speakers.

The Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine is the El Diablo's factory-installed, Harley Davidson powertrain that delivers outstanding performance with precision oil and air cooling.

“The Low Rider El Diablo is a modern expression of the iconic 1983 Harley-Davidson FXRT and a representation of the creative times it was born in. It embodies the spirit of counterculture in Southern

California in the ‘80s in a contemporary package that features meticulously crafted custom paint, including pinstripe trajectories that nod directly to those of the original FXRT.” - Brad Richards, Vice President of Design and Creative Director – Motorcycles HarleyDavidson.

Only 1,500 unique serialized bikes will be manufactured for global sale in the fall of 2022 and will have an MSRP of $27,999.

DUCATI STREETFIGHTER LAMBORGHINI V4 – FIRST LOOK DUCATI UNVEILS AN ULTRA-EXCLUSIVE STREETFIGHTER V4 WITH COMMERCIAL PARTNERS LAMBORGHINI.

Ducati has taken the covers off what is undoubtedly the most exclusive Streetfighter V4 yet in the 2023 Ducati Streetfighter Lamborghini V4, a machine that pays homage to the 631 hp, $331,000 MSRP Lamborghini Huracán STO.

Those with sharp memories will note this is the second time the two Italian powerhouses have teamed up to produce a special motorcycle, as in 2021 we saw the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini that was styled in the same vein as the Lamborghini Siàn.

Set to cost an eye-watering $68,000 MSRP, the Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini uses the 2023

Panigale V4 S as its base, including the 1103 cc V4 motor producing a claimed 208 hp, the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension, Brembo Stylema calipers and twin 330 mm discs. Also present is Ducati’s famous array of electronics, including the six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, Cornering ABS, traction, wheelie and slide control, cruise control, etc.

But it’s more the style than the specs that will set tongues wagging (and talking), with the Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini resplendent in a wild metallic green and red paint scheme, red brake calipers and a wheel design pattern that closely mimics the Huracán STO.

Carbon fiber is everywhere on the Streetfighter. The heel guards, rear seat bodywork, TFT dash cover, ignition switch cover, rear sprocket

20 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | SEPTEMBER 2022

protector and Akrapovic end cap all sport carbon fiber construction, but the wheels are still forged aluminum, a curious choice when you consider the significantly cheaper $34,500 MSRP Streetfighter V4 SP’s wheels are indeed made from carbon-fiber.

And Ducati has ratcheted up the exclusiveness to 11 for a select 63 customers. These lucky peeps need to own a Lamborghini Huracán STO to be selected, and for the MSRP of $83,000, will be included in Speciale Clienti initiative. That allows you to have your Streetfighter Lamborghini V4 painted in the exact same color as your Lambo, right down to the wheel rim colors, and you will also have the chance to buy a limited edition helmet, jacket and leathers, all in the colors of

bike. Nice.

Each of the 630 editions (plus the extra 63 for those in the Speciale Clienti package) will be numbered with the bike’s serial number engraved on a metal plate that sits on the tank cover. Your bike’s serial number will also come up on the dash when you turn on the ignition.

Interested? Of course, you are. If you’re interested and can afford the $63,000 to park one of these ultra-exclusive Streetfighters in your garage, we suggest you don’t waste any time as these one-off Ducatis often sell out within a day or two of being launched.

For the rest of us, we can always dream…

Ducati brings the heat to the dirt party for 2023 with its first full-on ADV motorcycle, the DesertX.

DUCATI HAS KEPT us waiting long and hard on this one. We first saw signs of the brand new DesertX back in 2019 at EICMA, when the Bologna brand dressed up an 1100 Scrambler in some fancy new clothes that were inspired by the immortal Paris-Dakar Cagiva Elefant (sic) racers of 30 years ago.

The global pandemic could be blamed for a bit of the delay, but, as they say, it’s better to wait until something is cooked just right than pull it out before its time. Ducati chose to bide its time, and the result is the outstanding 2023 DesertX, their first purpose-built off-road motorcycle.

The DesertX comes into the market at its hottest ever point as far as mid-size ADV motorcycles go. This all-new motorcycle goes up against the KTM 890 Adventure R, Yamaha Tenere 700, Aprilia Tuareg, BMW F 850 GS/GS Adventure, and Triumph Tiger 800 XCA, all players who’ve been in the game a long time.

But Ducati isn’t playing tiddlywinks here. The DesertX uses a version of what is now Ducati’s most widely used motor in the 937cc 11-degree Testastretta, desmodromic L-twin, a motor that’s seen duty in the Multistrada V2, Supersport,

Hypermotard and more recently in the Monster. On tap is 110 hp and 68 lb-ft of torque, neatly wrapped in an all-new tubular steel-trellis chassis, wonderfully seductive bodywork that doffs the cap nicely to the Paris-Dakar racers of yesteryear, a chunky 46mm KYB fork and shock that’s fully adjustable and contain a massive 9.06 inches of front wheel travel and 8.66 inches at the rear, and an electronics package to rival everything from their own Panigale V4 to any bike within this category.

Said electronics consist of six riding modes — including an Enduro and Rally mode — four power modes of Full, High, Medium and Low, three-stage Engine Brake Control (EBC), eight-stage Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), cruise control, and three-stage Cornering ABS, all of which is fettled in one way or another by the Bosch six-axis IMU with mission control a five-inch tall dash that looks very much like my iPhone.

These electronic aids/safety features are all standard fare with the DesertX. You’re not buying a base model and then unlocking various electronic paywalls to gain more performance. What you see is what you get. You can only buy the top spec, which is no doubt reflected in the $17,095 MSRP price tag.

But when all is said and done, it’s the ride that matters most and the DesertX delivers in spades. This is a motor supremely adapted to the task of off-road riding. Ducati has fitted a shorter first and second gear to the DesertX to help it controllably crawl down rocky embankments, a feat it does extremely well when you chose the highest level of available engine braking.

With 110 hp on tap, that’s more than enough for

every off-road situation but forget the number for a minute. It’s the smoothness of the power delivery that’s impressive, the motor all the time willing you along without imparting a sense of trepidation at the twist grip, something 150 plus hp big bore

ADV’s have extreme trouble in accomplishing.

The motor matches beautifully to the chassis, which is long, tall and with a rangy riding position. The 63.3-inch wheelbase gives the chassis excellent stability on the trail, although it does hinder tarmac agility, if only a little. Paired with admittedly soft suspension settings, the DesertX will happily tear up rocky hills and then crawl back down them with the best of them, which is no mean feat for a first time ADV manufacturer.

Which is exactly what Ducati is. The Multistrada can go off-road but it’s not an adventure motorcycle. Hell, it doesn’t even come with an off-road specific 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel. The DesertX does. This bike, resplendent in that dazzling pearl white that adorned the Lucky Strike racers of the 1990s, is an excellent adventure proposition. Not just an excellent bike for a first-timer, an excellent bike, full stop.

In these two years in MotoGP, I have learned and grown a lot, and I believe that I can only improve with the engineers and men of the Ducati Lenovo Team! KENNY ROBERTS JUNIOR’S 1996 TEAM MARLBORO YAMAHA YZR500 IS UP FOR SALE...

WHO DOESN’T NEED A FACTORY YAMAHA YZR500 IN THEIR LIFE?

THERE ARE TIMES in one’s life when a gem of unequivocally rare proportions comes up for sale. And if you’ve made the right financial decisions over the course of your life, you just might be able to take advantage of it. This is one of those times. Before you stands the very machine Kenny Roberts Junior raced in his rookie season in the 500cc World Championship (as it was known before its more common title of MotoGP) in 1996, the Team Marlboro Yamaha 1996 YZR500, on sale in the UK for the princely sum of $400,000.

Kenny Roberts Junior was still finding his big bike feet with the Yamaha YZR500 OWJ1 after an early career in the 250cc category under his father, the legendary three-time World Champion, Kenny Roberts, tutelage. The young protégé would go on to take a best finish of fourth at the Czech Republic Grand Prix on this machine behind winner, Alex Criville of Repsol Honda, indications of the speed he would hone over the next four seasons that culminated in the World Championship in 2000 when riding for the factory Suzuki team.

find for sale anywhere in the world, a bonafide 500cc two-stroke monster producing upwards of 180 hp with a tiny powerband only the very best riders in the world could master. Indeed, it’s more than likely the new owner will probably just look at the machine rather than ride it, although, it is fully functional and was demonstrated by Kenny Roberts Snr at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

The machine is offered for sale via Californian Rick Degan’s Japanese-based company, RMD Motors, Rick being the go-to man for many years if you had a hankering for something truly exotic from the Land of The Rising Sun.

“When I sold the bike to the current owner in the UK three years ago, he went through the bike top-to-bottom,” Degan says. “The suspension was reconditioned, the engine has been rebuilt, and it recently went through some more maintenance before Kenny Roberts rode the machine up the hill at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s in perfect running condition, although there are no spares that come with the purchase.”

Spares or not, bikes like this come up once in a blue moon, and if you’ve got a spare $400,000 burning a hole in your wallet, you may have just found your next Christmas gift.

WOODCRAFT-CFM • YAMAHA MT07 ECCENTRIC ADJUSTABLE RISER ADAPTER PLATE

The new MT-07 adapter plate bolts directly to the stock handlebar mount keeping all of the stock clearances while putting your hands in a more natural position. This setup allows the use of multiple risers giving you the ability to custom-tailor the bar height for optimum comfort. Each plate is machined from tough billet aluminum giving your bike a custom look while making them much stronger than the stock handlebars.
