ustom bikes shows have really come a long way. I remember when the parking lot of the local Hooters would be jammed on every third Thursday of the month with riders, clubs and some of the sickest custom two wheeled machines. I’m not saying that has changed. But the vibe is definitely different now.

mechanic with artistic vision. If what they need does not exist, they create it, fabricate it and make it. This class of builder does deserve their own special event to show off their sweat and sometimes, blood equity.

But you’re not into that style of motorcycles, you’re telling yourself. Shut up and listen to me… Get into it. If you are rider and enthusiast, all aspects of this culture are relevant. Becoming a well rounded biker makes you a better biker. INDUSTRY NEWS CLUTCH CONTROL CELEBRATES 10 YEARS WITH “THE ILLY IN PHILLY” 2017 EVENT 2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of CLUTCH CONTROL and we are celebrating in a major way! The inaugural Clutch Control kicked off in September of 2007, memorialized on the classic motorcycle lifestyle television show, SUPERBIKES, hosted by Jason Britton. Flash forward to 2017, ten years later and we are still rolling strong. This year’s event will prove to be more than a festival of motorcycles. On deck for Clutch Control 2017: Custom Bike Competitions with several classes, Stunt Shows by Jason Britton’s Team No Limit, musical performances, celebrities from the world of entertainment and motorcycles, vendors, food and fun!

Philadelphia, PA at Penn’s Landing.

“It is interesting to think back to the first Clutch Control in 2007 and see how far it has come and how much it has grown over the last ten years. What it has taught me is that the lifestyle of motorcycles is truly a major factor in the overall health of the industry. Lifestyle events like Clutch Control are important to continue bridging the gap between the companies that make what is ridden and worn to the people that ride and wear what is made. Clutch Control remains a free event to attendees and keeps costs low for vendors, proving to be a winning formula, showcasing the vibrancy of our industry while providing a fun and entertaining day for the motorcycle community at large.” - Allan Lane, CEO of Hard Knocks Clutch Control “The Illy in Philly” is a FREE Motorcycle Entertainment, Publisher of SportBikes community festival, open to the public and will Inc Magazine. take place on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in

ONCE AGAIN, EBR CLOSES THEIR DOORS

Erik Buell has resurrected his motorcycle company more than once and most recently it was rebirthed as EBR Motorcycles. EBR Motorcycles launched the EBR 1190RX and 1190SX in 2014 only to cease operations and file for bankruptcy in early 2015. Several months later, new life was breathed into EBR when an outfit from New Jersey agreed to buy Buell’s assets. That hope was short lived and once again, EBR changed hands. This time, EBR found it itself in the ownership of Liquid Asset Partners. They began bike production in Spring of 2016 and introduced a special Stars and Stripes edition of the 1190RX. In November of 2016, EBR released a special edition of the 1190SX called

Black Lightning. The bike was unveiled at the 2016 Long Beach tour stop of the International Motorcycle Show. Then it all went quiet. In January of 2017, EBR announced that they were shutting down production operations. EBR has stated that they will continue to support their dealer network regarding sales, warranties and technical support. A sale of remaining equipment and assets is slated for Spring of 2017. In the wake of a struggling economy and industry, it is not difficult to understand the troubles that manufacturer would have when faced with stiff competition of the more established powerhouse brands. The EBR brand of motorcycles has definitely made their mark as America’s sportbike. While it is sad to see it go, it shall remain a part of the American sportbike landscape. THE SHOW: DISTURBED CADAVER

T

o say that Carlos Rodrigues is a builder with vision it not saying enough. His custom motorcycles, that he builds under the moniker Mortagua Fighter are truly one off custom built machines. His latest creation to roll out of his Portuguese shop is called Disturbed Cadaver. Despite having a Suzuki GSXR 1100 as the base, there is nothing remotely that connects the finished build to its origins, save the engraved OEM Suzuki engine case cover. The deconstruction of the base model and it’s restructure is extreme to say the least. The frame, the swingarm, the front suspension, the controls, all non derivative of the stock bike. To be clear, this is not some bolt on kit that was mass produced and slapped on with a few wrenches. Carlos, builds his components by hand, including the body work. The unique dual exhaust follows the angled, hard, aggressive lines of the machine. The paint job harmonizes with the profile, leading your eye from the nose to the tail. The gold details accent the bronze, black and off white colorways, creating a vibe reminiscent of the Steam Punk Movement. The details in the front suspension and brake set is just as intriguing as the overall motorcycle. A one off mono fork suspension system is loaded with dual steering dampers while a dual caliper brake set up fortifies the Disturbing Cadaver’s stopping power to complement the beastly GSXR 1100 engine. If you’re thinking that it’s just an expensive paper weight, you’re wrong. Carlos rides all of his bikes. It’s the best way to advertise your creations. Carlos is not just a bike builder. He’s an artist. Everything from concept to execution is one off. The Disturbed Cadaver represents an example of what a true custom motorcycle is. Design. Concept. Fabrication. Execution.

We see it everywhere in our society. A beautiful woman is perceived as perfect without even uttering a word. She could have the soul of Satan but if she has the face of an Angel it won't matter. Some poor sucker will think tnat she's special right up to the minute she takes the house.

I think it'll be fun. I'm itching for the season to start like a boy that's wandered into a poison oak patch! And the real reason... My boss called me and said "Do an article on livery or you are out of a job, like A-Rod after a drug test!"

So without further ado, "The Top 5 Liveries in MotoGP"! 5. KTM: This is how much faith I have in the team led by Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro. They haven't officially unveiled their color scheme to the public but I put them in the top five based on drawings and their Moto3 team. I'm sticking my neck on the line here but I promise you that bike will stand out like a D cup gymnast on a team full of A cup gymnasts. 4. FACTORY DUCATI: A tad

rom being a kid and growing up in Myrtle Beach, S.C. to recently graduating from Loris High School, all Matt Dozier ever wanted to do was ride motorcycles. Most parents would say that the age of 10 or 11 years old is too young to allow a child to ride and teach them the fundamentals, however Matt Dozier Sr. disagreed. Many of the greats that race in MotoGP, AMA or the Manufacturer Cup Drag racing series all started riding as kids. They were placed in safe riding environments and introduced to the safest racing gear on the market. This month we go into the world of 20 year old Matt Dozier… one of the best up and coming riders in drag racing 56 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM

weighing roughly 115 pounds soaking wet. SBI: The first time that I saw you was at Dano’s Grudge Appreciation at SGMP. This was in Cecil, Georgia back in 2013 and my first impression was a very quiet youngster that doesn’t say much. Let the readers know your racing background and tell us how long you’ve been racing? Any racing idols and how you got into it? MD: I’ve been racing for about eight years now. When I was two years old my dad bought me a 50cc four wheeler and after a month or so, it was just too slow for me. I just kept trying to learn as much as I could and later worked my way up to

a mini bike. Growing up as a kid, I watched my dad race motorcycles and we used to take trips to Gainesville, Florida at least twice a year and go to Rockingham, N.C. I loved watching Richard “Lil’ Rich” Gadson coming up because he was so small and could ride really good. We looked like we were about the same size… I also loved watching Rickey Gadson, Ryan Schitz and Larry “Spider Man” McBride. Around 2006, my dad stopped racing and started letting smaller guys ride his bike. I used to study them and watch how they would ride my dad's bike and then around the time that I turned 11 years old he bought me a 600cc. After a couple of months went by I told him that I wanted to go faster but he was too scared to let me ride his GSXR 1000. One day

when we were at the race track, I was riding my 600 up and down the track and all of a sudden it messed up so I couldn’t ride it anymore. His GSXR 1000 was there and nobody was riding it at the time so I asked could I ride it and he told me, “No”. Later that day after he had left and went somewhere, I decided to ride it anyway. When he came back I was on his 1000 going down the track so after he saw me ride it once… He just let me ride it for good. After a year or two went by, one of my dad's friend asked if I could ride his Hayabusa on the track. It had a slider in it so it was my first time ever riding one. At first I was scared but once I got into my second bulb I just held my breath. Once the lights dropped I crammed it and ended up going a 5.09! That was

THE STRAIGHT LINE: ASPHALT & OPPORTUNITY my first time ever sitting on a slider bike. Around 2012, Team Dre Day Racing saw me riding at Rockingham Dragway and they tucked me under their wing and gave me more knowledge and experience. SBI: It’s tough to find a good rider these days and lately you’ve been riding “RARE BREED” for Jungle Racing. It’s a Suzuki GSXR 1000 with an all motor package on a flat slick and many consider it to be the fastest all motor package in the racing game right now. The bike seems as though it was set up specifically for you… Tell us about how this combination came about. MD: Myself and the Jungle Racing Team have always been cool since back when I started riding RG3 in 2013. After my incident happen with RG3 in the beginning of the 2014 racing season in Rockingham, Jungle Racing reached out and asked if I could make one pass on there bike "Rare Breed". Myself and LA, the owner, were pretty cool, so we decided to make one test pass. After that, LA’s father told me that was the fastest the bike had ever been. After that we just clicked. Minor adjustments were made and the bike still sits the same as it did when LA used to ride it. They later decided to change the back gear and we worked our way up. SBI: You’ve raced Rhonda twice and that bike is known to be one of the fastest all motor Suzuki Hayabusa setups currently in grudge racing. Describe what it was like beating them both times? MD: It felt great beating Rhonda twice in a row because we knew that the bike was fast ever since the previous owner had it. Myself and Ken are very close, we live about 5 miles apart from one another. I grew up watching him ride motorcycles so it's like a brother thing, never about competition or anything! We’re from the same area so we want to put on for our small community and show people that you can make it out here! After we race each other, we both are at the end laughing and smiling. MD: Lil Tucci is my bike and we’re like two peas in a pod! We’re not making any off season changes, SBI: What’s in store for Lil Tucci in 2017? If you Tucci is going to be the same this year. We might have the opportunity to set up a race with one try to actually push it a little more this year since street tire bike this season, what bike would it be we never had a chance to last year, but it's going and why? 62 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM

to be the same set up and everything… Nothing different. The Main Street tire bike I want to race this year is "Gas Monkey". We had plans to race last year but we both had other races or we couldn’t get both bikes to the same events. We couldn't make it happen last year, but hopefully

this season we can make it happen. I want to race Jeremy Rossi because right now I feel he's the best and fastest. He’s the most consistent out. He's the man everybody wants to beat. So to be the best, you have to beat the best… Shout out to the Rossi camp. Much respect! SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | 63

THE LION'S DEN

BIKES, CAMERA, ACTION! T

he past five years saw the emergence of more would be photographers and smartphone photogs than ever before. I being guilty of this to some extent myself have been known to publish photos for this very magazine that were taken with my cell phone. With social media damn near replacing all forms of telecommunications from television and radio to email and even the phones on which we access social media to begin with, it’s no surprise that there are cameras everywhere. I am not talking about security cameras or those intended to monitor peoples’ public life, traffic or merely to serve as a tangible and permanent record of the happenings of the day to day minutia of our lives. The cameras I am referring to are those in the hands and pockets of over 6.8 billion people on this big ole spinning rock. If we carry and use cameras disguised as

phones (because let’s face it, to make phone calls is almost the last thing we use them for lately) when doing everything from buying groceries and eating a meal to playing with our children and lip syncing to our favorite song then is seems only appropriate and reasonable that we use them to capture more exciting things like… Wait for it… Riding our motorcycles. Big surprise right? Action cameras have become almost as commonplace on two wheels as helmets and aftermarket accessories and for good reason. Between how many more available options there are out there for cameras and how inexpensive they have become they are as easy to obtain and own as they are to use and enjoy. It is arguably as appealing to record video while riding to save for posterity as it is prudent to record video SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | 75

THE LIFE: THE LION'S DEN

ACTION CAMERAS HAVE BECOME ALMOST AS COMMONPLACE ON TWO WHEELS AS HELMETS AND AFTERMARKET to serve as evidence or reference. Memorable rides are made even better when you can watch the footage afterwards or share with those who were or were not there. Much like fishermen and hunters, motorcyclists often exaggerate tales of motorcycle riding ability or the details of rides so having a video to corroborate one’s claims of two wheeled feats adds legitimacy to stories or disproves the “fish stories” told by others. On the other end of the spectrum, when calamity occurs having video proof of wrongdoing can not only serve you in legal claims but also litigious environments as well. Social media has highlighted, albeit anonymous or by second hand account, instances where claims of self-defense by motorcyclists may be supported or disqualified due to video evidence. I myself ride with an action camera manufactured by a very popular action camera company (one might call it a super brand and the benchmark by which all other action cameras are measured) for both of these reasons. Being someone with a photography background, 76 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM

being a journalist and as someone who generally enjoys documenting his adventures no matter how exciting or mundane they are, mounting a camera to my helmet or motorcycle was a logical choice. I use my action camera when enjoying many of my interests and hobbies. I have uploaded my videos to public video sharing websites, cataloged both photographs and videos dating back over a decade and have had my action cameras at the ready for everything from hunting trips and shooting at outdoor shooting ranges to track days and first rides on new motorcycles. With the technology improving the quality of cameras available on cellphones and new ma nu fact u res of accessories t o m a k e you r c a mera equipped smart phone just a s via b l e a n option for action camera captures, m o t o rc ycl i s t s, adventure seekers, proud parents and video bloggers alike can now get the utilit y of an action camera without

the investment in a $200.00 plus camera in addition to that new front line technology driven cell phone. Despite the price tag on the latest action camera I’ve acquired being higher than that of my current cellphone, I would still rather risk damaging or losing my camera than my cell phone. For me a dedicated tool for the job is best when the activity can accommodate it so I’ll not be using my phone for on the move video anytime soon. We ta ke pictures and video at weddings, birthday parties and to commemorate achievements or milestones of all kinds and since every time I throw a leg o v e r, s t a r t the bike and open that throttle is like a vacation to me I might as well document the trip. Awareness of c ameras recording our actions tends to keep those in front of the lens honest. When in as dangerous an environment a s a ny mo to rcycl e ride presents,

WHEN CALAMITY OCCURS HAVING VIDEO PROOF OF WRONGDOING CAN NOT ONLY SERVE YOU IN LEGAL CLAIMS BUT ALSO LITIGIOUS ENVIRONMENTS AS WELL. the extra pair of eyes provided by a camera should be a welcomed addition to any motorcyclist’s tool bag. To be clear I am not advocating the unsafe and irresponsible operation of audio/visual devices while driving because I by no means want anyone out there risking violation, injury or worse just to get footage of the ride but it is fun and comes in handy just as much as can be used as a training tool, to protect yourself or just to enjoy watching and showing to others. I recommend if you have the interest and the means getting yourself an action camera or accessory for using your camera equipped smartphone and using it on your next ride. Show others who don’t ride or who don’t ride like you what the view from where you sit looks like. Watch the videos after the ride to see what you can do better, what you did right or what you may have missed the first time. Swap your action camera between activities whether it’s riding motorcycles, baking a cake, watersports, tactical training or mil-sim, strap it to your dog next time you take him/her to the lake or when playing with your RC car or quad copter. Edit, upload and share your videos for all on the World Wide Web to enjoy, comment on and share. Every single ride may not be an action movie but no matter the genre, when I ride, it’s bike, camera… Action! SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | 77

Each day has 3 main lifts, followed by 2-3 assistance exercises. Hit the gym 3 days a week and alternated between the two workouts. The program is usually run for OFF SEASON STRENGTH TRAINING about 12 weeks. My program is a modified (from end of season until 6 weeks prior to version of the one found at www.stronglifts. the start of the next season) com, which even has a free app to download on your cell phone to help guide you along. 5x5 Workout. 5 sets of 5 reps with 90 SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | 87

SEASON PREPARATION (6 weeks prior to the start of the season) Cut the weights in half for the three main exercises each day, and do 2-3 sets of 1520 reps with 30 second rest between sets. This is about twice as hard as the heavy weight workout, and will rapidly improve cardio fitness and muscular endurance as the season approaches. 4. PREPARE YOUR MOTORCYCLE. Take the time to go over your entire bike from top to bottom before you ride. After putting in the work to be able to ride every session, be sure that your bike is not holding you back. Put a wrench on every nut and bolt. If something is less than perfect, change it now! If you are a racer and did not do any maintenance last season, send your suspension out to be freshened up today. If you are a track day rider and your suspension was last touched either at the factory when your bike was built or by the last person who owned it, send it out to be freshened up. While you’re at it, have your local suspension shop be sure that the 88 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM

springs you have are set up for your weight. The difference can be huge! Make sure that your bike is 100% ready to ride 4 weeks before your first event. Being a rider myself, I know that this almost never happens. If you set 4 weeks as a goal, then you will at least order everything that you need in enough time to arrive and install before you ride. Be sure that your oil and fluids are changed and your tires, brakes and all your other wear items are up to snuff. Take the time to adjust all of your controls so that everything is exactly where it is most comfortable for you. Pick up spares for your commonly damaged items like bars, levers and pegs. I love to have my stuff all packed up and ready to go a couple weeks before the first event – it gets your mind focused on riding every time you walk by the neat stacks

of gear all ready to go! 5. GET MOTIVATED AGAIN. Write down everything you can remember about your last day at the track. Remember what you did right, those lines you figured out, that perfect drive that you got and the perfect trip through the fast sweeper when you hit your turn in and apex perfectly. Put yourself there in your mind and remember what you needed to work on. Read articles from top coaches on riders that will help you uncover your true potential. If your bikes are easily accessible in the winter, I’ve found it both useful and motivating to sit on your bike and do a few laps in your head. This is also a great time to revisit and reinforce proper body position. Accurate repetitions in your mind can actually help to burn in proper muscle memory and give you a head start on next year. When in doubt, revisit step #1, and enjoy your off season! Until next time... Ride fast. Ride safe! SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | 91

hat goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Yes, that may be so for some of your run of the mill vices: gambling, sex, drugs & drinking, but I’ll share this with you, my addiction that bears no shame: I love motorcycles. Always have, always will. Hey, don’t judge me too harshly. I know I’ve got a problem and I’m working on it. And it’s not just any motorcycles, I know what I like and like what I know. Classic motorcycles of a misspent youth that first caught my eye, like those candycolored Honda’s of the mid 1970’s. They rattled my teenage brain so much that my ears still perk up every time I hear an inline four hit 10,000 rpm. Oh baby, yeah, that’s it, that’s the sound! The aural assault of a well-tuned two-stroke combined with a whiff of pre-mix brings me back to those innocent days, watching the neighborhood bad boys streak by as I skidded to a halt on my Schwinn Stingray, eyes bugged out, watching and listening. In an effort to be like them, we hacked the forks off old, discarded bicycles, adding them to our bikes and built our own choppers. We attached our prized baseball cards with clothing

pins to our spokes making sounds like our favorite motorcycles, too. At some point, I even attached a used Sportster tank and steering wheel to one of my customs. And of course, we built ramps in the alley and jumped over the younger kids to be more like our hero, Evel Knievel. Sometimes you made it, sometimes not, but you learned lessons like ‘no guts, no glory’ and that crashing hurts. Good times, for sure. That was then, this is now. My mind is on overload as I boarded the red eye home after four days of motorcycle madness. Temptation was everywhere I looked. Mecum’s 1,000 bike orgy at the South Point Casino isn’t just for old codgers longing for the bikes like their dads rode, there is truly something for everyone and every wallet. With motorcycles ranging from a 1904 Indian to a 2014 EBR 1190, stock bikes to wild custom, one-off designs, it was all there and waiting to be sold. In fact, over 90% of the bikes here did find new owners. Heck, you could even stay home and bid on-line or by phone, but you’d be

THE FRICTION ZONE: MECUM AUCTION missing out on the action that one can only get at a live auction. Beyond the bikes, there are the people that visit this Mecca of Motorcycles from all points around the globe. Prices were down a bit from the highs reached a year ago, but that is the nature of the collector world. Prices go up and prices go down. Remember this when you buy. Passion and pragmatism both have their place when buying the bike of your dreams. The old axiom that “If it was rare and desirable when new, it’s worth having now” is still true. Beyond buying because of collectible value, there is another motivator: you want it and you want it now. Either one is a valid reason to step up and purchase the bike of your dreams. After all, life is short and you never know when you’ll find another one. If you do decide to buy a motorcycle at auction, here’s a few tips to help avoid buyer’s remorse. Put together a game plan. Educate yourself on what it is you’re buying. Don’t rely just on the description on the bike’s lot tag. Check out old sales brochures, articles and books about the machine you have interest in. Try and look beyond the gleaming paint and polished metalwork. Does it run? When did it last run? Has it been restored? Will you need to invest more money for tires, missing parts or engine work? Use tools like Google for recent sales figures to understand where the market is now and whether your new bike is still dropping in price or gaining value. Most importantly, be prepared to buy! Before you even register to bid, know how much you can afford to pay. Big auction companies like Mecum have on-site financing in case you find yourself short on that dream purchase. Shipping is available and it’s often more reasonable than you might think. Of course, nothing replaces laying your eyes on the machine in person. It may look great in the catalog or on-line, but seeing it for yourself is the best option. There’ll be no shortage of experts who can help you if you ask for their advice. If you found that special bike and are ready to pull the trigger, stay calm and let the 98 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM

auctioneer work up to your price limit you’ve established beforehand. An auction is free-market capitalism at work. So, will you pay more or less at an auction than in a private transaction? That depends on who’s also interested in the bike you’re bidding on. I witnessed some massive bargains on bikes and seen some outrageous numbers paid that made no sense to me. Remember, Caveat Emptor is the reality of the auction world. If you’re not experienced at buying at auctions, go with someone who is. hat started out as a hobby for Michael Demby painting t shirts in a mall when he was a young 17 year old go getter morphed into a successful career as an airbrush artist specializing in the realm of motorcycle art going on 30 plus years strong. But let me not jump too far ahead. Back in 2000, a young Mr. Demby gave up the brotherly love vibe of Philly for the southern warmth and charm of the ATL. It was during this pivotal point, Mike set out on fueling his passion for art as an airbrush artist. Although he exhibited a natural artistic talent and thirst for the arts, he tried... key word "tried"... to further develop his skills by going the academic route with enrolling in the Art Institutes where he quickly learned package design, typography, and marketing collateral was not where his heart beat with joy. His passion and love was in the free flowing hypnotizing hum of the airbrush, so he did the Heisman move to school and followed his heart. After a few short months, Mike quickly gained notoriety with his talents which ultimately prompted one of his existing t shirt customers to take notice and asked for his talents with her 104 | SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM

Always up for a new medium to work with and challenge he not only jumped at the opportunity, but excelled at it leading the young lady to then ask for his assistance in painting her bike. Again, always up for a new challenge to further his skills and reach, Mike dutifully unleashed his vision and skills on this unexpected opportunity and well, as the old saying goes, the rest is history. If you don't know his work, allow us the privilege of name dropping on his behalf with his work touching the Motorcycle Club world with the likes of members of Iron Bred and Rare Breed, the grudge and drag world with Team Bud Light Lime, the outreach and empowerment community with the famous Foxy, one of the founders of the P.R.O. Convention, and let us not forget the entertainment world and Big Tigger's Megatron with fresh new upgrades. Although there are some favorites that come to mind such as his Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil works of rolling art, one of his favorite bikes just so happens to be his own, a 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa by the name of "God of War". Not because it's his bike, but because he provided himself the opportunity to not hold back on creativity or budget constraints. "This was my opportunity SPORTBIKESINCMAG.COM | 107

In addition to the aforementioned notable pieces, the work of Uptown Graphx can be not only be seen in local shows in Atlanta such as V103's annual Celebrity Custom Car and Bike Show, but also throughout the nation with customers from coast to coast that purposefully seek Mike's talents by shipping their parts and pieces for that Uptown Graphx look. And what look is that you ask? Before we answer, we have to point out Mike's integrity and personality with quickly giving credit to others and graciously claiming not to be the best and always willing and looking to learn and grow, even at 30 years in the game. With that in mind, however, Mike is proud to say he brings that Philly and street style to his work creating his own unique very sought after look. As for the future, there could be some teaching involved down the line, but for now his hustle continues day and night with that hypnotic airbrush hum that brings art to life.

STAFF STUFF LIGHTECH • FRAME SLIDER KIT Allan Lane

flipping and tumbling because a higher profile slider gets caught or snagged. LighTech takes great care in their manufacturing and it shows. The kit is designed to compliment the design of the bike, not stick out like the aforementioned eye sores. LighTech took it further by introducing rubber shock absorbers between the sliding puck and the magnesium base plate. This construction allows impact absorption and greater sliding capacity. I’m happy to say that I have not had the misfortune of trying this theory in a real world scenario but it is important to be prepared for the moment so that when the moment arrives, you are prepared. The LighTech Frame Slider kit on my S1000RR has offered me an additional layer of rider piece of mind. After all, replacing frame sliders is Fast forward to the LighTech Frame Sliders that were way less expensive than replacing bodywork. installed on my 2015 BMW S1000RR. The sliders themselves are low profile and were installed hassle http://lightech.it free with no need to cut or modify my bike. Again, the low profile sliders are key because in the event of a Rating: 6 (out of 6) crash, the bike is more likely to slide to a stop, opposed There was a time when frame sliders looked like enlarged push pins protruding from the sides of your bike. They weren’t attractive and often took away from the aesthetics of your machine. In some case, they were straight up eye sores. But they were a necessary evil, to a point. The higher profiled sliders could actually cause the bike to flip instead of slide in a crash, possibly causing more damage than good. Then companies like LighTech, who were just as concerned with how well their products looked as how well as how their products performed, began making quality products that complimented the line work and theory of the bike’s design and offer a level of protection.
