Let’s #RunRichmond! It’s finally time to Run Richmond! We’re always excited for race weekend, but this year we’re incredibly thankful to be able to hold a safe, socially distanced version of our beloved Richmond Marathon, Half Marathon, and Allianz Partners 8k. In such an uncertain year, knowing that we still get not one, but 16 days of welcoming participants to Richmond is something we’re very happy about! This 2020 Richmond Marathon and its new format has been the product of countless meetings, diligent planning, and the combined support of the Richmond community, partners in the running industry, the running community, and most of all, unwavering support from you. Your excitement and understanding at every turn have helped us to make running Richmond a reality, and you are what has kept us pushing to develop a race day experience we can’t wait to deliver. You got us to the finish line, and now we’re ready to return the favor.

This year has been tough, but your commitment to train for and complete a race has shown your resiliency. In the midst of a global pandemic, canceled races, zoom meetings, and just general uncertainty, you haven’t given up on crossing a finish line. It’s time to see your hard work pay off. As you run on the Virginia Capital Trail don’t forget to pause and reflect on your journey to the start line. Our goal is to make your race day as fun and memorable as we possibly can. We’re providing the course, the support, and the swag, but you’re the one who made this happen! All we can do is cheer… and we plan to cheer loudly (from behind our masks of course)! See you at the finish!

Event Charity

Kids Run RVA, a program of Sports Backers, is committed to improving the health of all Richmond area youth by encouraging routine physical activity. We do this by supporting school and community based kids running clubs and the coaches who lead those clubs. As an official charity of the Richmond Marathon, donations to Kids Run RVA help us to provide free training opportunities for youth of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds as well as funding to support school-based run clubs and events. For schools with fewer resources, Kids Run RVA grants can additionally cover transportation and entry fees to Sports Backers events—like the Virginia529 Kids Run— which serve as celebrations of the students’ discipline and hard work. We invite each of you to learn more about how you can get involved with Kids Run RVA. Each time a child laces up his or her shoes, you will be giving them the most important gift of all: a path to good health and fitness! Since April, Kids Run RVA has led virtual kids fitness classes and even launched the Kids Challenge: Virtual Edition in October as a way to defeat boredom and keep kids moving. Through our first-ever virtual event, nearly 450 kids are working out on regular basis while accumulating points, unlocking virtual badges, and earning prizes!
