Crystal and Jarret Willis are the Hamptons couple you always keep loving! The duo behind the Bridgehampton fashion destination Blue One share the backstory of their loves for both dressing Hamptonites—and each other. BY SYDNEY SADICK

Crystal, how did you and Jarret first meet?

We met while I was attending college Upstate. I was in my third year and walked into a bar called P&G’s and spotted him immediately. He was the sexiest guy I had ever seen. I would later find out he was modeling for Ford and walking runway shows! I was 20 years old. Jarret is two years older.

Why did you decide to open your own store together?

I worked in retail while growing up and cultivated a following; customers would come to me for fashion inspiration on what to wear and what was in style. I worked those dreadful summer weekends for years and knew what it took to work hard, so I realized with my eye for fashion and work ethic I could do it. By that time, Jarret and I had a long-distance relationship. He was in the city, and I was in Westhampton Beach. We decided this could be a great collaboration—we could buy together and work together— and boy, did we have fun doing it! We would go out to dinner with clients and then open the store at midnight for them to shop! It just worked.

How would you describe your unique roles at Blue One?

Jarret is the social butterfly [Laughs], so if you want to know anything about anything, just ask him; he’s an open book! I’m more of the “we gotta get it done” girl. We both do the buying and look to each other for inspiration and approval. It’s a team effort.

How do you balance your work and personal lives?

It’s chaotic, fun, and crazy, especially with an almost 3-year-old [son, Jacobi]. Jarret is an amazing multitasker— from real estate mogul to super dad to caring and wonderfully supportive husband. We love going home to our little guy!

Jarret, what’s your favorite thing about Crystal?

She is without question the hardest-working, driven person I have ever met. She has magically managed to balance being a wife,

And Crystal, what about Jarret?

He’s the most wonderful father. I can say hands down I have never seen or experienced one like him. He’s incredible.

Do you advise each other on your personal style?

Yes, and a lot of times we dress the same! It’s funny.

No. 1 tip for being a millennial business owner?

Work ethic!

As a Hamptons power couple, what’s your advice to the singles out here this summer?

Put down your phone! Look around, engage people, get to know someone in person, not via text.

Jarret, what’s something we’d be surprised to learn about both of you?

I do the cooking and cleaning at home, and Crystal is an amazing sous-chef!

Crystal, what’s new at the store this summer?

I will be launching for the second year in a row my new Mommy and Me pajamas collaboration with Sammy + Nat. This year’s Hamptons print has a more modern, edgy feel with bright neon colors.

What else is next?

We want to open another location in Florida, so that’s what we’re working toward! T
