EDITOR’S LETTER
I first met Batsheva last summer through her mom, Julia Haart, who had invited me to their Hamptons home for lunch one gorgeous summer weekend. It was just a few weeks after I interviewed Julia for an Instagram Live show I hosted for NBC’s Today show. It was Julia, Batsheva, the rest of her siblings, myself, and my brother, Mitchell. Instantly, we felt part of their closeknit family and had the best time with delicious food and new friends. Mitchell and I couldn’t stop talking about how great they were and how much fun we
IT’S ABOUT T I M E had. They were truly so authentically themselves—lovely, kind, welcoming, and ambitious professionals. Batsheva instantly stood out to me as a fashionforward talent. I felt she had a natural eye for style; she had a sweetness that we don’t necessarily see a ton of in social media stars or celebs, and she felt like a solid role model for how to use your fame the right way. With all that being said, enjoy our interview where Batsheva talks about her upcoming hot girl summer—she’s single now! I’m also super excited for you to read the columns of The Spotters, our expert contributors who are some of the buzziest stars in their respective fields and social media right now—check them out on the left! In this issue, Lindsey Metselaar breaks down how to meet your special someone off the dating apps; Peter Davis writes about the Hamptons tech-craze; Stephanie Nass tells us how to be the host with the most; Dr. Rajeev Fernando shares his journey on the front lines of the pandemic and Ukrainian crisis, and Elizabeth Endres and Dale Borchiver inspire us to workout on the East End. The biggest thank you of all goes to my amazing brand partners who I’m grateful to for bringing my vision to life. Their support of Spotlight nd just like that…summer in the Hamptons is back! But this year, there’s a brand-new beachread magazine that’s targeting Gen Now—and beyond: Spotlight on the Hamptons has arrived! Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with wonderful editors at three of the major Hamptons publications. After a decade of experience that I’m grateful to all of them for, it felt like the time was right to execute an idea that I’ve been flirting with for years—a magazine that targets millennials through content that’s hyper relevant while meeting local appeal. I’m talking all things hot and happening in lifestyle, fashion, food, podcasts, parties, and so much more. Although we’re all obsessed with social media, there’s something about a low-tech read that feels right in the more low-key summer months, and particularly in the Hamptons, where print thrives. Spotlight is being launched to keep you in the know this summer, with a vibrant, trendy, and fresh twist, as well as a stellar lineup of prominent cover stars and contributors! And it all starts right here with our über-exciting premier issue featuring Batsheva Haart, star of Netflix’s My Unorthodox Life. A is heartwarming, and they’re all the highest-quality brands that I personally love and have a relationship with and want to be a part of your lives as well. We truly have the best of the best collaborating with us this season. There are so many fabulous stores, products, and experiences weaved throughout these pages. Every brand we’re working with understands the power of our generation of highly motivated and successful people making our mark in the Hamptons— and in the world. And finally, a huge thank you to my team for assisting me along this incredibly rewarding journey. The Hamptons is one area of this country where print is alive and well—and it’s truly amazing for all of us to be a part of this industry, together. If you spot me around the Hamptons, make sure to say hi! If there is anyone or anything you think we should know about, feel free to e-mail me (SydneySadick@gmail.com) or DM me on my Instagram pages (@SydneySadick and @Spotlight.Hamptons).
