PATRON SAFETY MEASURES Thank you for joining us for today’s performance. The Springer is dedicated to providing the best and safest experience possible for every patron. Below are just a few of the safety measures we will employ this season. We hope you enjoy the show! • Staff and patron temperatures will be taken before entry. • All patrons, volunteers, and staff must wear face masks when inside the building. • We have reduced audience capacity for all shows. • Multiple hand-sanitizer stations are available in every public area. • Inside Emily Woodruff Hall and the Dorothy McClure Theatre, gap seats will be placed between each party to provide social distancing. • A rigerous cleaning schedule has been employed throughout the building and outdoor spaces. • Ultra-violet devices have been installed inside our new air handlers to kill viruses and bacteria. High-end MERV-11 air filters have also been installed for the best quality fresh air circulation. • Electro-static disinfectant foggers are used between shows in all areas.

Refund/Show Cancellation Policies It’s important to us that you have confidence when booking your tickets. For a limited period, we are changing our refund policy in response to the COVID-19 outbreak - this will make our tickets more flexible if you’re unwell, have been asked to isolate, or don’t feel comfortable attending a show. If you are ill or have Covid-19 symptoms in the days leading up to your visit, we ask that you get in touch with our box office so that we can help. We will make sure your money is protected by either issuing a credit for another Springer event, refunding your purchase amount, or you can choose to donate the purchase amount to the Springer. FROM THE DIRECTOR Welcome back! It has been such an honor to direct The Wizard of Oz. Being in rehearsal with such talented people has reminded me of the true meaning of the holiday season-togetherness. This cast began as strangers but quickly became a family. The buzz in the air as they build off each other’s energy has been the most uplifting part of this process. But theatre is a two-sided experience. As we prepare to open this production, we can’t wait to add the other half of the live theatre equation: you. Gathering to experience unique artistic expressions has connected communities around the world for centuries. The art of theatre thrives on it. Being fully present with a group of tangible, living people is essential to the human spirit. Theatre reminds us we are not alone. There is nothing like laughing in a room full of strangers to remind us how connected we really are. This holiday season has brought with it a feeling of rejuvenation. Something was missing this past year that society has been aching to get back: Live, in-person, togetherness. The timeless tale of the Wizard of Oz has brought families and friends together for generations. It reminds us that every one of us has the power to choose our destiny. When things feel out of control, always remember that there’s no place like home with the people who love you. Whether that means relatives or friends, a family is made up of people who love you and when you’re with them you are home. For us, the Springer is our home and we are so thankful you are here with us. This holiday season, take time to gather with loved ones. After all, “there’s no place like home.” Thank you for keeping the Springer part of your holiday traditions. Happy Holidays,

Katie Underwood

WE AT THE SPRINGER WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE WITH GREAT RESPECT THAT THE LAND UPON WHICH WE ARE FORTUNATE TO MAKE ART IS THE ANCESTRAL HOME OF THE MUSCOGEE (CREEK) PEOPLE, WHO DOMINATED THE SOUTHEASTERN PART OF THIS CONTINENT FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. AS MUSCOGEE LAND IN NORTH GEORGIA AND ALABAMA WAS GRADUALLY SEIZED AND SETTLED, THE PEOPLE FROM THE UPPER MUSCOGEE CHIEFDOM OF COOSA JOINED THEIR COUSINS IN THE LOWER MUSCOGEE CHIEFDOM OF COWETA BEFORE MOST WERE FINALLY REMOVED TO OKLAHOMA BY THE U.S. ARMY IN 1836-37. THE SPRINGER IS ADJACENT TO “MOTHER TOWN” COWETA and “DAUGHTER TOWN” CUSSETA, TWO ANCIENT CENTERS OF MUSCOGEE CULTURE. FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE MUSCOGEE PEOPLE CAN BE FOUND AT MUSCOGEENATION.COM or LOWERMUSKOGEETRIBE.COM
