hen you head to Springfield, there’s no shortage of things to do. In the last three years, two of the city’s attractions have won Best New Attraction in the country, including Wonders Of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium. In 2017 Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium opened to the public, making it one of Springfield’s top attractions. The 350,000-square-foot space houses over 35,000 species of fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals from small turtles to a large albino alligator. The sea of blue tanks stretches through a series of themed areas visitors can roam. Walk through and view an ocean shipwreck or cross over a swinging bridge into the Louisiana swamp area. Get lost in the Ozarks forest and Amazon rainforest through mazes of creature habitats. For a bit of shopping, head next door to Bass Pro Shops, home to all your favorite outdoor gear. See a replica of the first Bass Pro Shops ever created and see how Johnny Morris made the chain of stores his legacy.
History Museum on the Square
Sports lovers can spend an afternoon watching the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field in the heart of downtown Springfield. Not only can you watch great baseball, but you can also spot undiscovered talent. More than 100 players got their start playing in Springfield and moved up to the Major Leagues to play for the St. Louis Cardinals. Visitors can cruise down historic Route 66 and enjoy an array of attractions that show off the birthplace of this iconic highway. Step inside the History Museum on the Square and walk through Springfield’s history through the five levels of the museum. View classic cars at the Route 66 Car Museum that houses a private collection of vintage vehicles dating back to the early 1900s. Visitors are even treated to a few celebrity vehicles that were featured in popular television shows or big motion pictures, including the truck that was used in “The Grapes of Wrath.” Need to grab a bite to eat? The Route 66 Food Truck Park has up to 10 food trucks serving everything from coffee to gourmet pasties inspired from English culture. If burgers and fries are your thing, head over to the Route 66 Steak N’ Shake, one of the last locations to do car-side service. Step back in time with Red’s Giant Hamburg, a new burger joint that serves up giant hamburgers and banana splits the way the original Red’s did in the Route 66 heydey. Meeting Planners Guide

Unique Group Activities in Springfield
Everything is more fun in a group. Experience Springfield through a group outing to maximize your enjoyment in the Ozarks. Love the brewery scene? Springfield’s Tap & Pour Craft Beverage Tour is a passport program where visitors taste their way around the area’s wine and beer scene while sharing some appetizers and maybe a few laughs. Those who complete their passport can redeem for a free prize from the Springfield Route 66 Visitors Center for ultimate bragging rights.
Tap and Pour Craft Beverage Tour
Take your party to the streets with the Trolley Bike experience. Bike around Springfield with your friends while sipping on cocktails or other adult beverages you want to bring on your adventure. Not sure where to go? No problem, as every Trolley Bike outing comes with a Trolley Conductor to steer you in the right direction and make sure your night is as fun as can be. Golfers will be able to enjoy a new golf experience taking root in north Springfield. Big Shots Golf will have 54 driving range bays on two stories, an outdoor putting green, a full restaurant and bar, an activity center for kids and a golf academy. Challenge your friends to a driving range competition or put your putt to the test on the greens. After an afternoon of golf, head to the restaurant and bar space for delicious entrees and sharable appetizers.
Touring Downtown Springfield on the Trolly Bike
If your group is into gaming, Andy B’s has 21 lanes of traditional bowling, 10 VIB (Very Important Bowler) lanes, an underground laser tag arena designed to look, feel and sound like an abandoned mine and a large arcade game room with every game you could want. They also feature a full-service restaurant for hungry gamers. While a great family attraction, Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium is perfect for groups. Not only can you see thousands of fish and sea animals, but you can get your feet wet with the Out To Sea Shark Dive or the Penguin Encounter. Suit up and dive into the shark cage to see these incredible creatures up close, or wander into the penguin habitat and learn about your favorite birds just a few feet away.

Whatever your reason may be for coming to Springfield, you can’t deny that some of the best memories can be made with a night on the town with friends.
