I pray that this article finds you still exhilarated over the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was a time we spent together as a body of believers, commemorating the Lord’s Supper and then gathering to celebrate His resurrection and look forward to His return. These truths are at the core of our HOPE. I want to repeat my expression of gratitude for every person that had a part in making this Easter season one to remember. One of the many positive and affirming comments that I received after that week simply read, “Thanks for bringing families together”. A favorite quote from an old movie is: “I love it when a plan comes together”. We celebrate the fact that our church family is catching the vision that the Lord has given us as we lead the church into the future. The core of that vision is twofold. First, we know that the church is called to offer HOPE. We have stood at the crossroad and realized that the Biblical model for New Testament Christianity is bound up in living out our grace filled life imitating the life and ministry of Jesus. I believe the Lord is pleased when He watches His people seeking ways to declare His glory through meeting the needs of people who are hurting and hopeless. The ministries of HOPE continue to develop and many have declared their desire to be involved. I am still praying that the Spirit of the Lord will open even more doors for the body of Christ to declare His glory and exhibit His love in this community and around the world. The second reality is bound up in the significance of each family. Each family in this church plays a vital role in the overall success of our expression of HOPE. This simply means that the stronger the family, the greater our impact. With that in mind I go back to the comment I received after “Come to the Table”, “Thanks for bringing families together”. This may be the greatest challenge we have faced in the history of the church. Families in our generation are struggling. Children are growing up with a limited understanding of who they are in the Lord and they are struggling to find the purpose of their life in Christ. They often leave home and not only are they walking away from the church, they are walking away from their relationship with the Lord. This month we will begin an ongoing emphasis as we focus on “HOPE @ HOME”. We will begin on Mother’s Day. We have so much to share with you as we make it our goal to equip the family to grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please make it a high priority to be here as we launch out on this very important journey. I want to ask you to make “HOPE @ HOME” a part of your daily prayer time. Pray for the Lord to lead us as we lead the congregation. Pray for families to grow strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Pray for Fathers, Mothers, and Grandparents to increase in their understanding of the influence they have on their children and their grandchildren. I know that the forecast for the family is often grim but I believe there is “HOPE @ HOME” and we believe the Lord has called us to make this a priority as a body of believers.
For His glory, Pastor Mark
