OPEN DAYS REMINDER This coming Saturday, 2nd September, both UNSW and Australian Catholic University (ACU ‐ North Sydney campus), will be holding their Open Days. Students in Year 12 and also Year 11 are encouraged to a end and find out about their courses and the universi es in general. UNSW & Macquarie Group Finance Workshop 15 September 9.30am to 12.30pm UNSW Business School, Business Lounge Level 6 College Road Kensington Business School and Macquarie Group invites Year 11/12 high school students to discover more about the world of Finance. Finance is an ever‐changing, fascina ng field that can profoundly impact the way we live. Come along and hear from a representa ve from Macquarie Group about why a career in Finance is so important and learn about what a professional career in Finance looks like on a day to day basis. You will also have the opportunity to meet and ask ques ons of UNSW current finance students, who will tell you all about University life and what it's like studying finance as a major. YEAR 12 STUDENTS AND PARENTS TAX FILE NUMBERS All Year 12 students need to obtain a Tax File Number (TFN) as soon as possible if they don’t already have one. A TFN is necessary to enrol in all ter ary ins tu ons– University, TAFE and private colleges, and to apply for HECS‐ HELP and FEE‐HELP to cover course costs. To apply for a Tax File Number, students need to go to the Australian Tax Office website h ps://www.ato.gov.au/ and apply online. A printed copy of the applica on then needs to be taken to a Post Office along with ID to complete the process. EAS Students applying for considera on through the Educa onal Access Scheme (EAS) need to collect an applica on form from Mrs Katsogiannis and return it with all the completed documenta on by the last day of this term (22nd September) at the latest, to ensure they are received by UAC.


UAC NEWS Below is an excerpt from the Universi es Admission Centre (UAC) most recent newsle er: UAC PINs All 2017 NSW HSC and ACT Year 12 applicants had their UAC PIN emailed to them in early August at the email address they registered with NESA (previously BOSTES). If any students didn't receive their PIN email, don't worry, we'll be resending PIN emails on Friday 22 September. If their PIN doesn't work, they need to double‐check they’re using their UAC PIN and not the PIN issued by NESA. If they’re using the correct number they can access the applica on login page and click the ‘Forgo en your PIN’ link under 'Manage your applica on', then follow the prompts to receive an email containing a link to reset their PIN. If they haven’t yet applied, they should call UAC between 8.30am and 4.30pm (Sydney me) Monday to Friday on 1300 275 822 (or (02) 9752 0200 from mobiles). They’ll need to answer some iden fica on ques ons and then their UAC PIN will be re‐issued. Be an early bird The processing charge for applying for university through UAC depends on when students apply. The early bird charge of $58 ends at midnight on Friday 29 September so students need to apply by then or the fee reverts to the standard fee of $183. Even if they’re not sure of their courses by this date, they can apply and then change their course preferences as many mes as they wish—for free! Payment for UAC applica ons The payment op ons available to applicants are the same as previous years – credit/debit card (Visa or Mastercard only) and PayPal. Year 12 students can also use Australia Post Billpay and BPay. If students choose to pay by Post Billpay or BPay, they must pay before they can receive any offers. All the important dates for 2017/2018 admissions are on UAC’s website: h p://www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/key‐dates.shtml SRS closing dates A reminder that SRS applica ons and SRS Check & Change close at midnight on Friday 29 September. A er this date, students cannot access or modify their SRS applica on. Before this date, students apply using this site: h p://www.uac.edu.au/srs/apply/ SRS applicants must have any courses they would like to be considered for an SRS offer included in their list of preferences by midnight on Sunday 12 November. SRS uncondi onal and condi onal offers will be released on Thursday 16 November. Further informa on is available from the website. ATAR Enquiry Centre ATARs will be released on Friday 15 December. Students who have queries about the calcula on of their ATAR can call UAC on 1300 MY ATAR (1300 692 827) or (02) 9119 5012 from mobiles on the following days: Friday 15 December, 8.30am–6.00pm Saturday 16 December, 8.30am–4.30pm (TBC) Monday 18 December, 8.30am–4.30pm Tuesday 19 December, 8.30am–4.30pm Wednesday 20 December, 8.30am–4.30pm Thursday 21 December, 8.30am–4.30pm Friday 22 December, 8.30am–4.30pm (TBC) If students have general queries about their applica on, they can contact UAC on 1300 MY UAC (1300 275 822) or (02) 9752 0200 from mobiles. Keep contact details up‐to‐date Students need to keep their contact details up‐to‐date so that UAC can provide them with important informa on about their ATAR and applica on. If a student’s contact details change a er they have lodged their applica on, they can update their details through Your Applica on on UAC’s website. Courses constantly change and UAC encourage students to check course updates on UAC’s website regularly for new, cancelled or amended courses.
