Emmanuel Macron The Leader of the New French Revolution?

By Martijn & Quirien, B2at

PARIS - Emmanuel Macron, the new president of France, has fought a confusing battle with his opposite presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen. Although he has won the elections, Le Pen also has made a great victory. She has lost the elections with 34% of the votes and Macron won with 66% of the votes. It is the biggest victory for the Front National ever (the political party from Marine Le Pen). The last time the Front National made it to the second round, was in 2002 with her father, leading the group. They lost with 18% of all the votes so this is a great victory for the Front National, and for Macron. On May 12th 2017, old-president François Hollande is having his last conversation with the new president Macron and handing over the codes from the nukes that France owes. After they leave the office from Hollande, and after the ceremony, Macron may call himself the 25th president of France. In his first speech as president he talked about the unity of the divided France, and how his plans are able to change it. Something oldpresident Hollande was not able to do.

On 26-27th of May, Macron went to Sicily, Italy, for the 43rd G7. This is a conference between a group of world leaders that talk about world’s main issues. This year the main issues were: Foreign Policy and Security Issues, World Economy and Sustainable Growth, (think about trade, climate and energy) Outreach, (development in countries such as Africa, Global issues such as Human Mobility, Food Security, and Gender Equality, and last but not least they talked about Global Relations. This was the first G7 as President for him and it was really important for the French Economy because Macron has to pick new ministers for his government and he has to choose wise to really change France, as he wanted. The new French president, Macron, and German chancellor, Merkel, have dealt with earlier statements by saying they would be ready to look at developing EU treaties in order to allow a further integration of the eurozone.

On behalf of our newsroom, I would like to thank you for reading this ninth edition of the St. Martin’s Courier.

Editor’s Note & Table of Contents ……..….… 02

The pupils of B1dt, B2at and V2at worked on their stories during one of their weekly Maatwerkuren, to broaden their horizons and to improve their English writing skills. I am happy to report that the pupils were able to put together an issue with a wide variety of topics. As has been the case from the start, this Editor in Chief helped them along the way, but did not interfere in their writing process or what they were writing about. This also means that there might be mistakes in grammar and spelling, but I hope you will agree that this in no way affects the quality of the articles. You can also find our up-to-date stories, pictures and videos about our bilingual department on Facebook: www.facebook.com/StMartinsCourier ! Emmanuel Macron Speaking at a public press conference on Monday night during Macron’s first visit to Berlin on his first full day in office, Merkel said: “From a German point of view, it is possible to change treaties if it makes sense in order to strengthen the eurozone.” She said she was personally prepared to make the case for such a change.

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that there was indeed a deeper meaning to the powerful handshake he shared with US President Donald Trump in Brussels. "My handshake with him, it's not innocent," Macron told the Journal du Dimanche in an interview published after the occasion. "It's a moment of truth." The two leaders met in Brussels on Thursday and shook hands in full view of the press. Pool reporter Phillip Rucker of the Washington Post, who was in the room, described it. "They shook hands for an extended period of time. Each president gripped the other's hand with a lot of intensity, their knuckles turning white and their jaws and faces tightening." Steve Holland, who covers the White House for Reuters, tweeted this: "The photos noticed that Trump and Macron were gripping their hands hard... Trump seems to just want his hand back."

Adding and Mr Macron can command an impressive 350 seats. At the party's headquarters, the mood is not the same joyful celebration that greeted Mr Macron's own presidential election victory six weeks ago. Turnout hit a record low of around 42 per cent, betraying a climate of fatigue and political disillusionment among the French people. It meant there were no screams of joy here on Sunday night, only subdued applause welcomed the results as they were broadcast on TV screens. Conclusion He has made a lot of progress the last weeks and we are looking forward to see what will still happen. We think he is a better president than Hollande, because he makes promises and actually handles according to this promises.

Emmanuel Macron won his bet. His party, which did not exist a year ago, has obtained an absolute majority in the French parliament. With almost all the votes counted, the interior ministry said the President’s party had won 43 percent of the vote, gaining 301 out of 577 seats in the National Assembly. NINTH ISSUE

Dutch Special Forces in Mali By Maxim and Quinten, B1dt

In this article we are going to talk about the Dutch special forces in Mali. In Mali there are a lot of rebels and small groups fighting with each other. The country is struggling with that and cannot get the rebels under control. So they have asked for help. The Netherlands agreed with this and since April 2014, the Netherlands is going to Mali to get the country back under control. Mali has also a very unprofessional and bad army. So the Netherlands send teachers( teachers who teach the basic thing that a army needs to get a country under control. The people in the Mali army have no experience. And have not the proper gear to fight against terrorists. So the teachers teach them: • How to enter a building • How to take cover if you are un a fire line • How to use your gun properly • And how to fight and help other people.

There are 4500 Dutch special forces personnel in Mali. The Dutch special forces are also getting intel for new operations and to get high value targets back in the jail because they now what their groups are doing and where they are. So the special forces get them easier under control or if it is necessary take them out. But the Dutch special forces are not only for holding under control the rebels and small terrorist groups or for protection. They are helping the whole country to recover. And they are also in Mali to rescue hostages who were taken by the terrorists. They are doing this very stealthy but very fast. But in Mali is not a rich country, so they have not much money to have good hospitals. So the special forces have also small hospitals to give the people medicines or antibiotics if they are ill, or they put them under surgery if they are wounded( this is also for the Mali soldiers). They bring their medicines from the Netherlands to Mali( they are produced in the Netherlands). And the people are liking this because they can be not ill any more, you should like it to if you are not ill. So the Dutch Special forces are doing pretty good things to the country and the country is recovering slowly but there are so many rebels and terrorists, so it is very hard to do. But the first mission of this year was a great success. The first group is home now. And Mali will be a rich and a save country again thanks to the Dutch special forces and the Dutch army personnel.

The have also no discipline, so they teach them to have discipline. That is very important. Each army MUST have discipline to start with. They also have no good gear, and everyone has different shoes and also no chest plate(a chest plate is like a bullet free vest but then with pouches on with, in the pouches you have your amination and your magazines for you gun and other stuff like a EHBO kit). But on this moment they are doing pretty good, so that is positive. But there are not only teachers, but also special forces, to keep the rebels under control. The special forces are their for protection for the civilians and helping for the countries security.

Bosnia & Herzegovina By Zerina, V2at

The number of women raped is estimated around 15.000-20.000 Bosnian women and the total amount of deaths is 220.000, of which 160.000 were Bosnian Muslims, 30.000 were Croats and 25.000 were Serbs.

It was the 5th of April 1992. Serbian police officers attacked several police stations in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and that resulted in two dead Muslim police officers and one civilian. The war had begun. Bosnia and Herzegovina declared its independence from (former) Yugoslavia and the Bosnian Serbs didn’t agree because they wanted to create a state of Republika Srpska. The leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Radovan Karadžić, who was maintained by the Serbian government and its leader, Slobodan Milošević and the JNA: Yugoslav People’s Army, organized that their services and forces inside Bosnia and Herzegovina would be battle-ready to protect the territory of the Bosnian Serbs. The result was that war soon started. The Croats promised that they would try to protect some parts of Bosnia but eventually turned against ARBiH (the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina). Sarajevo was surrounded by Republika Srpska from the 5th of April 1992 until the 29th of February 1996 (the war itself was from the 5th of April until the 14th of December). The Siege of Sarajevo is written in history as the longest siege of a capital city in modern fighting. The surrounding Serbs attacked the city with armaments, tanks and small weapons which led to the barricade of Sarajevo (2nd of May 1992).

The war ended with a peace agreement in Dayton, Ohio. For the survivors of the war in Bosnia, one of the most difficult parts in the aftermath was not knowing what happened to their family and loved ones. In all cities and towns this was awful but the city of Srebrenica, where a genocide took place, grieving was one of the worst. Serbs dug up the bodies and reburied them across a wide area of territory hoping to conceal their war crimes. In Srebrenica men and boys from 7 years and older were taken away by Serbian soldiers, they were told they had to work for them but instead the men and boys were murdered all together, leaving a pile of bodies behind. Before all this happened, the UN served as a shield to separate the Serbs and the people of Srebrenica. But when the time came to protect the people of Srebrenica from the attacking Serbs they decided not to do it. Like you have already read, the consequences were immense. The total amount of dead men and boys in Srebrenica is around 8.500, these are only the bodies which were found, a lot of families still haven't found their loved ones. You can still see the scars of the war when you look at the buildings, you can see holes in the walls of grenades and artillery. There are even holes in the road which the government didn't repair after all these years. The reasons for this is 1) they can't afford to repair quite a lot and 2) the government just doesn't want to.

The army of Bosnia and Herzegovina inside Sarajevo was poorly armed so they couldn’t defend themselves or attack to conquer Sarajevo back. When the war ended a lot of Bosnian territory was destroyed and wasn’t recognisable anymore as a city or town. NINTH ISSUE

Martin Luther King By Lotus & Finn, V2at

In the final years of his life, King expended his focus to include opposition towards poverty and the Vietnam war, alienating many of his liberal allies with a 1967 speech titled ‘beyond Vietnam.’

Martin Luther king was an American Baptist, minister and activist who was a leader in the civil rights movement. He was born in Atlanta on the 15th of January in 1929 and he got killed on the 4th of April in Memphis in 1668. He mainly got famous in 1955 because of his Rosa parks case. Martin is now best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Cristian belief. Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta, son of his dad, Martin Luther King sr., who was born in 1899 and died in 1984 and his mom, Alberta Williams King who was born in 1904 and died in 1974. King’s legal name a birth was Michael King, and his father was also born with the name Michael King, but he changed his and his sons names in honour of a German reformer Martin Luther, who they met at the fifth Baptist world alliance congress in berlin in 1934. King became a civil rights activist early in his career. He led the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott and helped found the Southern Cristian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. King also helped to organize the 1963 march on Washington where he delivered his famous ‘I have a dream’ speech on October the 14th in 1964, king received the Nobel peace prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance. In 1965, he helped to organize the Selma to Montgomery marches, and the following year he had and the Southern Cristian Leadership conference took the movement north to Chicago to work on segregated housing.

One day in December 1955, Mrs. Rosa Parks boarded a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She was tired from a busy day at work, tired of sitting at the back of the bus. But mostly, tired of the wrongness in things. It didn’t make any sense. It had never made sense. There was a law in Alabama that required persons of colour to ride in the back of the bus and to give up their seat to a white person if the bus had no free seats left. She wondered why she had to sit in the back of the bus. And why she should give up her seat just because she was black. On that exact day, the first of December, 1955, Mrs. Rosa parks had enough of the discriminating laws She decided not to agree with that law, and refused to give up her seat to a white women. This act, wasn’t the first act of protest against the law by not giving up a seat, but it was the first one that that many people knew of. Most of the white people were glad because they also wanted things to change, but others were mad. Martin Luther King was inspired by Rosa Parks because he shared the same thoughts with her, so when he heard that she was been arrested he called a meeting at his church were a huge crowd came to hear what he had to say. People wanted things to change but they were afraid that something would happen to them, like that they would get arrested are attacked by the people that didn’t want things to change. They said there was nothing they could do. But Martin Luther King believed that he could to something to change the law. His ideas were to for example protest or refuse to ride the busses which he knew would cost the city a lot of money. Eventually, on the morning of December the 5th, not everyone, but many coloured people refused to ride the bus. Instead, they walked, cycled, and the few people who owned a car, worked as shuttle service to take other coloured people to their work. Eventually, it took 381 days for the protest to work.

Some people were so angry that during the yearlong protest, they fought back with the acts of terrorism. They threw a bomb at kings house when his wife and daughter were inside. No one got hurt, but is was a terrifying thing to do. Every time that king got attacked in whatever kind of way, he said: ‘We must learn to meet hate with love.’ The first change came on November the 13th, 1956, when the Supreme Court ruled that Alabama’s laws requiring separation on buses because of the different skin colour of people and that they had to ride in the back of the bus and had to give up their seats were illegal. At first, the Montgomery city government ignored the Supreme Court ruling. About a month later, federal orders were given to the city and bus company officials that gave them a choice, they could obey the Supreme Court’s ruling or they could go to jail themselves. One year after that Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat a very good thing happened, Martin Luther King and his white friend reverend smiley (minister) sat together on the front seat of a Montgomery city bus. And at that moment people realised that that needed to be normal, that everyone needed to be treated the same way “I have a dream’’ is a public speech delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. During the march on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28 , 1963 , in which he calls for an end to racism in the US and called for civil and economic rights. Delivered to over 250.000 civil rights supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., the speech was a defining moment of the civil rights movement this is one of the most important part of the speech because he is going to tell his dreams and what he is going to try to achieve.

At the airport, officials noticed that James Earl Ray carried another passport under a second name. The UK quickly extradited James Earl Ray to Tennessee, where he was charged with King’s murder. He confessed to the crime om March 10 , 1969, his 41st birthday, and after pleading guilty he was sentence to 99 years in prison. He died in prison on April 23, 1998, at the age of 70. Martin Luther King wrote a lot of books about his life , in those books he tries to explain what he was trying to achieve and his way to that. There are also a lot of books written by other people who were inspired by Martin Luther King. King married Coretta Scott on June 18, 1953, on the lawn of her parent’s house in her hometown of Hemberger, Alabama. He was 24 and she was 26 years old. They became parents of four children. Yolando King (1955-2007) Martin Luther king III (1957) Dexter Scott King (1961) and Bernice King (1963). During their marriage, King limited Coretta’s role in the Civil Rights Movements, expecting her to be a housewife and mother. Martin Luther King is one of the reasons that there is almost no legal racism anymore.

On April 4, 1968 , James Earl Ray killed Martin Luther King with a single shot fired, while Kung was standing on the second-floor balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee . Shortly after the shot was fired, witness saw James Earl Ray from a rooming house across the street from the Motel ‘he had been renting a room in the house at that time. A package was dumped close to the side that included a rifle and binoculars , both found with James Earl Ray’s fingerprints. On June 8, 1968, two months after King’s death James Earl Ray was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport while trying to leave the UK on a false Canadian passport.

Donald John Trump By Jens.V, Stijn & Tim, V2at

Trump acknowledged his opponent, who called him to concede, saying: “Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country. I mean that very sincerely.”

Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessman, television personality, politician, and now also the 45th President of the United States. Born and raised in Queens, New York City. During his business career, Trump has built, renovated, and managed numerous office towers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. This all is worth $4.5 bilion.

He ended his victory speech with a promise to the country. "We’re going to get to work immediately for the American people," he said. "And we’re going to be doing a job that hopefully you will be so proud of your president. You’ll be so proud. Again, it’s my honor. It was an amazing evening. It’s been an amazing two-year period. And I love this country."

Presidential Inauguration

Historic presidential election In a stunning victory that defied polls, Trump won the majority of electoral college votes and was elected the 45th president of the United States on November 8, 2016. After one of the most contentious presidential races in U.S. history, Trump's surprising rise to the office of president was considered a resounding rejection of instituting politics by blue-collar and working class Americans. In his victory speech delivered at 2:30 am the following morning at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, Trump said: “I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans." "As I’ve said from the beginning, ours was not a campaign, but rather an incredible and great movement made up of millions of hard-working men and women who love their country and want a better, brighter future for themselves and for their families," Trump said about his supporters. He also spoke to the Americans who did not vote for him. "For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can work together and unify our great country.”

On January 19, 2017, the president-elect, his wife Melania and family attended a pre-inauguration concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Actor Jon Voight spoke and musicians Sam Moore, Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith, The Piano Guys and the band 3 Doors Down performed. Trump addressed the crowd of thousands at the end of the concert, saying: "This journey began 18 months ago. I had something to do with it, but you had much more to do with it than I did. I’m the messenger. I'm just the messenger. We all got tired of seeing what was happening, and we wanted change, but we wanted real change." He continued: “We're going to do things that haven't been done for our country for many, many decades. It's going to change.” He ended with a twist on his campaign slogan: "And we are going to Make America Great Again — and I'll add: greater than ever before.”

The following day, on January 20, 2017, Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States by Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts. Trump took the oath of office placing his hand on the Bible that was used at Abraham Lincoln's inauguration and his own family Bible, which was presented to him by his mother in 1955 when he graduated from Sunday school at his family's Presbyterian church. In his inaugural speech, Trump sent a populist message that he would put the American people above politics. “What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people,” he said. “January 20, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. “The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer,” he continued. “Everyone is listening to you now. You came by the tens of millions to become part of an historic movement, the likes of which the world has never seen before. At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction that a nation exists to serve its citizens.”

Trumps education Trump grew up in the Jamaica Estates neighbourhood of Queens, New York. He attended the Kew-Forest School from kindergarten through seventh grade. By age 13, Trump’s noisy behavior stimulated his parents to sign him up at the New York Military Academy, a boarding school in Cornwall, New York. “I was a wise guy, and they wanted to get me in line,” Trump said. “Thinking back, it was a very positive influence.” In August 1964, Trump entered Fordham University in the Bronx. In September, 1966, he transferred to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, because it offered one of the few real estate studies departments in United States academia at the time. While at Wharton, he worked at the family's company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, named for his familial grandmother. He graduated from Penn in May 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics.

Wealth Trump has said that he began his career with "a small loan of one million dollars" from his father (which "isn't very much compared to what I've built"), and paid back that loan with interest. He was listed on the early Forbes List of wealthy individuals in 1982 as having an expected $200 million fortune, including a share of his father's expected $200 million net worth. He was absent from the list from 1990 to 1995 following losses which reportedly obliged him to borrow from his relatives' trusts in 1993. When he declared his candidacy on June 16, 2015, Trump released a one-page financial summary that stated a net worth of $8,737,540,000. He declared, "I'm really rich", which he said would make him less trusting upon large campaign donations. Forbes believed his suggestion of $9 billion was "a whopper", figuring it was actually $4.1 billion. Trump has stated that his income for the year 2014 was $362 million. After Trump made debatable remarks about illegal immigrants in 2015, he lost business contracts with NBCUniversal, Univision, Macy's, Serta, PVH Corporation, and Perfumania, which Forbes expected negatively impacted his net worth by $125 million. The value of the Trump brand may have fallen further during his presidential campaign, as some consumers refused Trumpbranded products and services to protest his candidacy. Bookings and foot traffic at Trumpbranded properties fell off sharply in 2016, and the release of the Access Hollywood tape recordings in October 2016 make worse this. In their 2017 annual billionaires' rankings, Forbes expected Trump's net worth at $3.5 billion (544th in the world, 201st in the United States) and Bloomberg at $3 billion, making him one of the richest politicians in American history. Trump himself stated that his net worth was over $10 billion, with the difference essentially stopping from the uncertain value of valued property and of his personal brand.

His Family Donald John Trump was born in Queens in 1946 to Fred and Marry Trump. Fred was a Bronx-born New Yorker who made a fortune constructing middle-income apartments in Brooklyn and Queens. Mary was a Scottish immigrant. The wife of Trump is called Melania Trump. Donald Trump is the fourth of five children.

The name of his youngest child of Trump is Barron, he is 10 years old.he plays baseball and tennis, but his favorite sport is golf. He is very much like his dad.

Ideas from Donald Trump First, the good ideas. Education. “Competition is why I’m very much in favour of school choice. Let schools compete for kids,” Trump writes. “For two decades I’ve been saying to politicians to open the schoolhouse doors and let parents decide which schools are best for their children.”

As everyone knows, sending children to failing schools is one of the main causes of inequality. Trump makes a strong case for eliminating the Department of Education and returning education policy, testing and all, to the states. Obamacare. Trump wants to replace the Affordable Care Act with a private insurance system that would allow people to buy insurance across state lines, leaving his earlier support of single-payer health insurance. Insurance companies could market the plans that people want to buy, not the one-size-fits-all plans that are currently being sold. Competition would raise the quality of the service. Energy policy. Trump delivers a well-deserved critique of energy that doesn’t damages the environment. He wants to expand development of energy resources and correctly analyses the development of expensive renewables, such as wind and solar. Trump has battled proposed windfarms near his resorts, and succeeded in earth-shaking plans for wind turbines near his golf course in Scotland. Tax plan. Trump wants to simplify and lower individual and business rates. He proposes lowering individual tax rates to 10%, 20% and 25%, and getting rid of all conclusions except those for helpful deductions and advance interest. He wants to eliminate the estate tax, the alternative minimum tax and the marriage penalty. On the business side, he supports lowering the tax rate to 15%. Trump’s plan loses more income than other Republican proposals, but proposals always get changed when they are put through the lawmaking wringer.

The bad ideas

Social Security. Trump writes: “We should not touch Social Security. It’s off the table.” He suggests asking wealthy people to voluntarily give up Social Security payments if they don’t need them, but declares that this is unlikely to have much effect. Social Security benefits are paid to 58 million people, over 1,000 times more than in 1937. The program costs $808 billion per year, nearly 40,000 times what it cost in 1937, adjusted for inflation. Social Security and Medicare accounted for almost 40% of federal spending in 2014. It is impossible to solve our $19 trillion debt problem without adjusting those programs.

NINTH ISSUE

- 10 -

Infrastructure. Trump complains that America’s infrastructure “is collapsing, and we aren’t doing anything about it.” He suggests spending more money, even though “on the federal level, this is going to be an expensive investment, no question about that.” As a developer, he should be thinking of ways to get the government out of building infrastructure, and private companies in. With today’s technology, the Trumps of the world can repair and maintain infrastructure and charge fees for its use. The use of project labour agreements, which require higher-paid union labour for federally sponsored projects, increases the cost of federal projects. The Davis-Bacon law raises construction workers’ wages. Highway Trust Fund rules require about 15% of funds to be spent on mass transit, even in states where residents don’t use mass transit. Moving more infrastructure construction to the private sector would save billions of dollars. China. Trump writes that “we must stop certain countries from cheapening their currencies at the drop of a hat,” and accuses China of currency management. Five years ago, China pegged its currency at a low level that gave it an advantage in importing to the United States. But today the yuan is overvalued, not undervalued. China’s trade extra has declined to 3% of GDP, and exports are declining — not a sign of an undervalued currency, as AEI scholar Desmond Lachman has shown. China is keeping its currency high to prop up its shaking standard market. This helps, rather than hurts, the United States.

Immigration. The chaos of migrants flooding Europe proves even to questioners that we need to do more to enhance border security. Trump proposes a wall along certain sections of the southern border, paid for by costs from passes. This is not unreasonable. But sending back 11 million undocumented workers, and then inviting some to return, makes no sense. Instead, they should pay a fine and receive a work visa. Trump writes that “when people are playing on one of my golf courses, or staying at a hotel, we supply the service workers who keep these businesses running.” He needs these workers too.

The End of the World By Tristan, Joah &Romano, B1dt

Alternet said “Earth will probably be vaporized by a dead Sun. Mercifully we won’t be around to experience it.” The destruction of a solar system has been captured for the first time by astronomers who said the violent events provide a grim glimpse of Earths ultimate fate. It could be that the Earth gets hit by an asteroid, which would start a mass extinction event. The impact itself would already cause a lot of damage, but the Earth would get so hot the we would all evaporate. Unless if we build a space station big enough to house everybody on earth, but we won’t have enough time for that. This might sound silly bit it could potentially happen that robots take over. We are well on our way to produce the perfect AI to help us with everything, but one little mistake and they will probably annihilate our whole species. For example, we start a war with a country, we have robots and think we have the upper hand. But then our amazing scientist makes a tiny mistake and the robots turn on us. End of life. Our sun is expanding day by day, so it could happen that it expands so big the a solar flare (a beam of heat that comes from the sun) hits the earth, or, even worse, the sun expands so big that it devours the earth. As weird as this might sound, a moving star could get in range of earth and kill us. Simple but horrible. Super nova’s are a regular thing in outer space, these make gamma ray bursts when they explode and if one of these bursts hit us earth will presumably be cut in two, leaving most of us alive, but we would not be able to visit our relatives in other country’s anymore. That’s for sure. And it would make the myths of the 16 century true, the earth will be flat.

Speaking about super nova’s, it could happen that a super nova happens so near to our solar system that we just explode with it. Or as in the part before this a gamma ray hits us and we still might die. Or the nearest way of death for us would be global warming. Earth gets hotter and hotter every day and one day, all of the ice will be gone. The sea level will rise tremendously and most of the earth will get flooded. Or we will all die in poisonous gas. Or we will evaporate because the of the heat. Overpopulation. Something that we all should worry about. But weirdly nobody is doing anything about it. If earth would get to full we would not have some time for ourselves and this would cause mass insanity. This would result in a nuclear war or something and we would still die. We don’t know the exact day when something of This will happened. But it could be every day, even This century ,or even this year, maybe even this month, or this week! Or maybe this day! We do need to be careful with all of this reasons. We need to be with it quickly, otherwise these things could Happen….

Interviews

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy interview: It’s not the End of the world to be a bit depressed. He's the bearer of a populist message but unfortunately he is a complete buffoon,” says Wilco frontman, Jeff Tweedy, as he reflects on the unavoidable topic of the recent presidential election in his country. Wilco campaigned for Obama in previous elections and the band even ended up on the President’s handpicked Spotify playlist, not something they are likely to find happening with Donald Trump. “Perhaps he's amoral, I don't know, but he's certainly not guided by any of the same things that guide normal humans

Tweedy admits he is extremely disappointed by Trump’s win. but feels a great sense of optimism from it too: I am feeling a great surge of hopefulness and defiance, based on seeing the reactions of so many of my fellow Americans. I think we're going to witness a movement of protest unlike anything we've ever seen and that gives me a great deal of hope‌ what I’m witnessing right now I don't think I’ve ever witnessed during my time on this planet. And of Jeff Tweedy’s 49 years on this planet he has now spent over twenty of them as the singer and primary songwriter of Wilco, a Grammy awardwinning and critically acclaimed group that have traversed the genres of alt-country, indie, electronic rock, classic pop and experimental to create a recorded output that, whilst stylistically varied and occasionally erratic, is fundamentally underpinned by a defining characteristic and personality traits totally unique to the band – through their wild explorations in multiple genres over the years they have always left a distinct snail trail throughout new ground covered. Tweedy’s slightly husky and smoky vocals that can range from a biting snarl to a fragile whisper is one such key personality trait and his voice feels instantly familiar when he speaks. “For me, Wilco gets better every yearâ€?, he says, “the connections between us as musicians gets better every year, my enthusiasm and my energy for creating gets stronger every year.â€? This comes on the back of a fertile period for the band. In 2015 they surprise released the album Star Wars as a free download and it’s quieter, more reflective and acoustic partner album, Schmilco, in September of this year. It seems time has been a useful aid to Tweedy when it comes to shaping his perceptions of what he wants to do and is doing. “It's built on a lot of gratitude’s I think, simply that I get to do this. I've been much more committed to the idea of it as something to work for then when I was younger, I go to the studio every day and I’m excited by that prospect every day of what might happen, what will I discover?â€?

The Mayans There are some people who think that the end of the world is coming: The Mayans. They predicted in december 21, 2012 the world would end, because the calendar ended.

According to the Mayans the world was created on August 11, 3114 BC. At december 21, 2012 the maya calendar was on 130000. At August 11, 3114 BC it was exactly the same. They thought that if the calendar would end the world also end. People did investigate and found that is not true. The proof was after the day that the world should actually have ended. There are some people who are preparing for the end of the world like the Mayans. Some people are making shelters and some are saving food. The conclusion

There is a lot to say about the end of the world. Everyone is writing about it on the internet. The Nasa is saying things about it. But, we can’t prove when it going to happen. We can’t prove whether It will happen. Maybe today. Or maybe Over 20.000 years. We think the world will end. We only don’t know when. The end! đ&#x;˜Šđ&#x;˜Š

Climate Change is Real & Dangerous By Luuk Lukas, B2at

The rising use of electricity, transportation and other technology takes its toll on our climate. What are the effects? What could we do? What does the future look like? What causes climate change? There are multiple causes of climate change. One of them is carbon dioxide, it has been steadily rising since the 1800. There are actually multiple causes of why this happens. For example burning fossil fuels and deforestation. Deforestation is especially bad because trees absorb the CO2 from the air and stores that inside the tree. So when you cut it down it releases those gases. Burning fossil fuels is also really bad. We all know that, but not on this level. The processing of crude oil to normal gasoline requires heat, which also requires electricity. And adding the costs of transporting the gasoline to your local gas station I found out that it takes 20 kilogrammes of co2 per litre of normal gasoline. That’s excluding the burning of the gasoline. If you would include that it would be 34 kg of CO2 per litre of gasoline. Also, methane is also an important gas causing climate change, just like CO2. Methane is a gas released by animals by excrements and farts. This is why meat is very bad for the environment and it’s better to go Vegetarian or even vegan.

3rd world Country`s like Bangladesh will suffer the most. They have no dykes because they cannot afford it. Also rising sea levels will reduce the amount of habitat for polar bears and all the other polar creatures that live on land.

what could we do to prevent climate change? Even though our climate has already risen 2 degrees which is equal to the heat of 400.000 Hiroshima atomic bombs every day exploding, We can do something further damage though, there are some tips you can use to help lessen the effects of climate change and lower your carbon footprint. Which we will give in the end. We did not cover the biggest cause of climate change however, the main cause actually causes 51% of all the global warming while transportation, including cars, trains, planes and boats only causes 13%. The main cause is animal agriculture, like meat. Fact: one cheeseburger equals to 660 gallons of water (2498 litres) which equals to showering 2 months. Cattle (cow) causes 18% of greenhouse gases.

Methane and CO2 go into the atmosphere and creates the well-known greenhouse effect. It traps heat and warms up the earth. You can see that the poles are really hot, which melts the ice. The melting ice will contribute to a higher sea level threatening sea cities all over the world.

Meat has a big effect on climate change because of multiple reasons, first we will cover land use. The amount of land it takes to grow 375 lbs of meat (170 kg) you can grow 37,000 lbs of vegetables (16782 kg).

But the united states does not have enough land to feed people meat which comes from the U.S.A. alone. So they raise the animals in their own country and mostly buy the food from other countries like Mexico and brazil. Because of that Brazil cuts down 4046-8093 m2 every second. So, to summarise: To produce 1 kilogramme of beef it takes 6,5 kg of crops, 15,000 litres of water, and 550 days of time. And 1 kg of beef needs 330m2, emits 16kg of CO2 and 0,5 kg of methane. Methane is such a bad greenhouse gas that it is the equivalent of another 10kg of CO2 and that’s just for 1 kilo. We live in an age of factory farming where we produce hundreds of billions of meat. Same goes for pork and chicken and fish and all the others. So, no matter how much of a meat lover you are you need to accept that there are problems here. Resource scarcity, environmental damage, animal suffering, bacterial resistance due to the massive overuse of antibiotics and human health where fat is scientifically proven to be responsible for a variety of diseases. So? What would a good solution be? Easy, become a vegetarian! Yes! And no. we have to accept that there are many people who just like meat. While you should try your best and eat as less meat as possible there are people who would not do that. Changing is hard. Go to china and go to a restaurant where you go and order a vegetarian meal, good luck with that. In many country’s which get wealthier meat is a luxury many people would not want to go without. That’s the reason global meat consumption is rising which makes all of the problems worse. Causes of climate change

How do we solve this? (this is the future of meat): Welcome to the future where all meat does not come from animals, it comes from plants. You would say then that it isn’t meat. We will explain. There are actually 2 ways to make none animal meat. One is with “meat analogues” with substitutes and the other one is “cultured meat” or synthetic meat. Meat analogues are plant-based meat imitations usually soy protein or soy flour and gluten are used as a foundation of a dough which is then formed into something that closely resembles meat. This form already exists and has been perfected by the vegetarian industry and is called the “impossible burger” it is made with a only plants well maybe you are not convinced and there is good news for you: called cultured meat. Is actually normal meat but instead of growing it in a cow you only grow that part in a lab in a simplified way they start with a few stem cells taken from a cow and grown to meat. Which you then grow into meat by providing all the protein it needs to eventually get to a normal steak. And theoretically the most perfect burger you have ever tasted because you can control every aspect of it from nutrition to growth speed and even movement. And we only need the stem cells once and then we can produce it infinitely with a fraction of the resources (95% less) and pretty much none of the problems for example in a lab you don’t need antibiotics which is one of the biggest problems in factory farming today. Unfortunately, this is not ready for sale yet. Even though there are a few companies working on this we will still take a few more years until this method can compete with normal meat. But it will eventually. To some of you this might sound a bit unnatural or weird but if you think about it so is meat today while also being much more cruel. Possibly we will look at us back in the future and think that that is really cruel and that we shouldn’t have done this because we are used to it. So as technology is advancing more and more we can see that meat has to change and more older things that we do nowadays have to change like cars for example.

Samsung and Apple By Gian, V2at

Who is the best: Iphone 7 - Samsung S7

Apple and Samsung have been Rivals for a very long time. But when were they created? By who? Where are they nowadays the most famous for? These are all questions when you think about Apple or Samsung. But you can’t say one thing for sure. Which one is better?

History

Samsung - The origins of Samsung are not found in electronic products but in other products. In 1938 the creator of Samsung Byung-Chull Lee set up trade company in Korea. The company sold fish, vegetables and fruit to China. Within 10 years Samsung had flour mills and confectionary machines. From 1958 and onwards The Samsung began to expand into other industries such as financial, media and chemicals. In 1969 Samsung Electronics was established producing what Samsung is most famous for. Apple - The creators of Apple Steven Jobs and Steven Wozniak had been friends since high school. They had both been interested in electronics. After they both graduated they kept in touch and both ended dropping of school and getting jobs. Wozniak had been working hard in computer-design for some time when, in 1976, he designed what would later become the Apple I. Jobs, who had an eye for the future, insisted that he and Wozniak try and sell the machine, and on 1 April 1976, Apple computer was born. The ‘computer’ sold for 666.66 USD (American dollars)

Design - The designs look mostly the same and if you should choose it would take a long time. Both phones sport water and dust resistance But if you look at the thoughest phone, the S7 wins. It has an IP 68 rating compared to the iPhone 7’s IP67 protection. Width - The iPhone is the smaller device of the two and is just 0.4 inches smaller. The iPhone is 4.7 (=12) inch and the Samsung is 5.1 inches (=13 cm) Battery, performance and storage The iPhone 7 got an all-new chipset, called the A10 fusion. Apple claims that it is 40 per cent better than the A9 used in the iPhone 6 and also more efficient. And Apple claims that the battery of the iPhone 7 has a better battery life of 14 hours of talk time. The storage of the iPhone 7 is offered with 32GB, 128GB or 256GB. The S7 has a battery life of 22-hour talk time. But unlike other Samsung phones the battery isn’t removable. The Galaxy S7 can be bought with 32GB or 64GB, though there’s a micro SD card slot that accepts memory cards up to 256GB in size. Both phones have fingerprint scanners made in their home buttons. Prices Samsung’s phone had a starting price of 569 pounds (=670 euros) and is thirty euros cheaper than the iPhone 7, which costed 599 pounds (=705 euros). But when buying the one with the 264GB storage it will cost 799 pounds (=941 euros). Which makes the Samsung galaxy S7 with the micro SD card much cheaper.

Summary

Design, Width and battery: Samsung Performance, Storage: Apple

My opinion I have at the moment an Huawei P9 lite. The first phone I had was the iPhone 4. I personally thought that iPhone was much better. But when I say all things an Samsung phone could do I changed my mind. So at the moment I like the Samsung Phones more. And I know what the Samsung phones can do because it has the same operating system as my Huawei phone. But you can think different. It's your own opinion.

The Boy Who Lived By Aedem & Chens, V2at

What is Harry Potter? Harry Potter is a series of fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The novels follow the life of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story line shows Harry's struggle against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard government known as the Ministry of Magic, and take control of all wizards and Muggles, a reference term that means non magical people.

The Movies The series is distributed by Warner Bros and consists of eight fantasy films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and culminating with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011). A spin-off prequel series will consist of five films, starting with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016). The Fantastic Beasts films mark the beginning of a shared media franchise known as “J.K Rowlings Wizarding World.” The series was mainly produced by David Heyman, and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as the three main characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Four directors have directed the series

throughout the years: Chris Columbus, Alsfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and David Yates. The screenplays were written by Steve Kloves, but not Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Number 5 in the series). Which was written by Michael Goldenberg. The making of all the movies took more than 10 years to complete. Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone (In a America called Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone) is the first movie that was made a film of. It was released in 2001. Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets is the second Harry Potter film of the series. It was released in 2002. And was directed just like the first film by Chris Columbus. Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban is the third Harry Potter film, this time directed by Alfonso Cuarón and was released in 2004. It introduced some very interesting characters. Harry Potter and the goblet of fire is the fourth Harry Potter film and has once again a different director. This time the job was done by Mike Newell and was released in 2005. Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix is the fifth film of the series. It was directed by David Yates and the film was released in 2007. In this film there are some new friendships, love and enemies made. Harry Potter and the half-blood prince is the sixth film in the Harry Potter series and was again directed by David Yates. It was released

in 2009. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the 7th and final book in the series was split into 2 parts. Part 1 was released in November 2010, and part 2 was released in July 2011. Both also directed by David Yates.

J.K. Rowling

Joanne (Jo) Kathleen Rowling is J.K. Rowling’s original name. She chose to use another name because she was afraid that her target audience, young boys, would not read the book if they knew she was a girl. The J stands for Joanne and the K for her grandmother’s name “Kathleen”. She had an unhappy childhood because of her mother’s illness (who later died) and a strained relationship with her father with who she doesn’t talk to. In 1995, Rowling finished her manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on an old manual typewriter. The book was given to 12 publishing houses, all of which rejected the manuscript. A year later she was finally lucky when an editor named Barry Cunningham from Bloomsbury, a publishing house in London, decided to publish Rowling’s book on which she made quite a lot of money. In October 1998, Warner Bros purchased the film rights to the first two books and eventually Warner Bros created all the films with Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.

Why is Harry Potter so popular? Harry Potter, when it started out in 1997, was every kid's fantasy. Their escape from the real world to a fictional one. From one filled with school, and responsibilities to one where they were wizards and witches and could do almost everything. When it started, it was a story for young kids. The first book came out in 1997 when Harry was 10. The last book came out in 2007 when Harry was 17. Assuming that the reader was 10 year old too in 1997, he was 20 when the series reached its finale. The reader grows alongside the major characters. While the characters age by 7 years, the reader by 10. But one point to be considered is that, throughout the series, the characters are far more mature and have already faced more than their share of dangers. So from a mental age perspective, the readers and the main characters "age together". It is the story of the outcasts. From the orphan boy who finally finds true love in friendship, to the geeky girl who is finally accepted and loved by her class mates. From the fat guy who is bullied in school, to the weird girl with her urban legends and her seemingly weird methods. It has the perfect mix of everything that is universally loved:

Facts about Celebrities

Thijs, Kris & Aimée, B2at

So as you already know celebrities are just humans. They all have secrets just like we do. Ordinary people like us are pretty good at keeping secrets or at keeping weird facts, but if you are a celebrity it's different. If someone is afraid of butterflies it's not shocking. But if Justin Bieber or Ariana Grande is, it's news! So here are some facts about celebrities for you guys. 1. So first of all we actually can be happy that Selena Gomez is a singer instead of someone everyone jokes about because when she was 9 years old she almost fell in a lake, and if it was filmed it would look very funny. If she was unlucky she maybe even drowned. We can be happy she is still alive, can't we? 2. The second fact is about Bruno Mars, or actually about Peter Hernandez. Because that's his real name. I really didn't know this. 3. Harry Styles doesn't have 2 nipples just like everyone. He has 2 extra nipples so he has 4 nipples. 4. The fav subject of Ariana Grande is science, she loved it already the first lesson she got it and later on she got to love it more and it became her favourite subject. 8. Elvis Presley was natural blond: his familiar black hair was the product of dye beginning back of high school 9. Ed Sheeran has written has written 3 one direction songs: little things, moments and 18, he helped a lot of artist writing their songs, because he's very good at that and lots of artist ask him to help, he loves to help people so he already has written lots of songs that came out on the name of other artist, these 3 songs from one direction were the most famous ones.

Well in one of the facts before this one we said that the nickname of celebrities is mostly the cooler version of their names but with Nicki Minaj's there is a lot of differences. Her full name is Onika Tanya Maraj, I think she had a lot of fantasy to come up with Nicki Minaj but you can still see to agree on. The most celebrities have their own things where they are afraid for but Ke$ha has one a lot of people have, she is terrified of ghosts. Britney Spears has a huge addiction of vanilla candles, she takes one with her wherever she goes, isn't that crazy? Ke$ha was terrified of ghosts but Johnny Depp has a big fear of clowns and spiders, so I think he won’t go to a circus. Taylor Swift started playing the guitar at age 12. And from then she knew she was talenteed in playing guitar, in some of her songs she still plays her own part where she can play guitar. Niall Horan from One Direction admits to masturbating on the tour bus. He describes it as ‘relieving tour bus boredom’. How was it for the others ones of One Direction, Where they doing it together? Haha Jennifer Lopez was the first actress to have a movie and an album hit number one in the same week. Did someone else aver did that? She is really talented and I think not everyone could say that this will happen to them. Taylor Lautner was a junior world karate champion for several years running. He still now got his moves and sometimes he really can use it in a movie. Madonna was fired from Dunkin' donuts after she squirted jelly at a costumer, later she was happy she did that because she really hates that job. But then it was a disaster for her.

32. Kim Kardashian always blow-dries her jewellery before putting it on, she hates when her neck or ears get wet because of her jewellery, because her make-up has to be perfect. 33. Snoop Dogg is one of the voice options for TomTom GPS, some people heard it already because they recognised his voice, but most people did not. 34. Miley Cyrus was left handed but her dad taught her how to use her right hand, she actually does not know why, but she thinks he did it because her hand writing was horrible with her left hand. 35. Taylor swifts first job was to knock praying mantises out of Christmas trees.

Justin Bieber

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber when they were a couple!

Justin's ex Selena Gomez once needed to take off her shoes because she was taller than Justin, Justin did not like this so he asked her to take off her shoes. Justin is always busy with his looks, but when he cut off his hair, he lost 8,000 followers on instagram. When Justin was young, he got bullied because he was not as wealthy as his classmates were. Now he has a lot of fans called Beliebers, they were not called Beliebers from the beginning on, they first were called Justineras, later on this changed to Beliebers.

2010

We found lots of weird facts about Justin Bieber which you probably did not know yet, did you know that Justin does not eat the crust off of a pizza? Or that Justin his beard grows really slow? He cannot grow a full beard because it takes him over a week just to grow a little moustache. Another funny fact is that even though Justin is the most googled artist, he is not googled more than Jesus.

Did you know Justin worked together with Bruno Mars to rewrite his song Love me? Bruno helped him with this. The last fact is that Justin can guggle, did you know? So we hope you learnt a little bit more about celebrities, and we really hope you have laughed about it, because some facts are so weird, you will not really expect celebrities can be as weird as we can be! We hope you liked our article because we do! Thanks for reading!

We also found facts about Justin and his family; did you know Justin's little sister Jazmyn has a YouTube channel? Or that Justin's both parents walked in on him having sex? Even though Justin can speak French, he struggled a lot with learning his lyrics for the Spanish song Despacito, once busy on his tour, he locked himself in the studio to learn his lyrics!

YouTube Very Important People By Willemijn, V2at

He was following an education to become an engineer. But he realised that this wasn't what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He decided that he had to do something for a living that made him happy: playing video games. So he dropped out of college and started a YouTube channel: Markiplier.

~ Markiplier ~ My article is about a 27 year old man, called Markiplier. I chose him because I like him and find him special. Why? You might ask. But first things first, Markiplier is his online pseudonym, his actual name is Mark Fischbach. He makes gaming videos on YouTube, videos in which he plays a game, records it and talks to the audience. This makes him a YouTuber. The videos aren't live so he is actually just talking to himself. He is known for being pretty good at games, screaming and swearing a lot. It may sound like he is not a nice person, but he is. Mark was born in 1989 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Markiplier says that he was a pretty dumb child. For example, he and his brother once did a contest about who could jump of the stairs from as high up as possible. As you can probably guess, this did not end well and he ended up cracking his skull. He also ended up breaking his arm while trying to be the quickest to climb on the monkey bars. Not very smart. Marks father bought a computer when Mark was young. He was amazed by this piece of technology and loved playing games on it, so he and his brother did so, al lot. When they weren´t playing games, they would go outside and play in the woods nearby. Mark had a pretty rough childhood. He lost his father at a very young age due to cancer. He went through a very bad break up, had some bad fights with his mum and some other unpleasant things. One day he woke up with a lot of pain in his side, so he went to the hospital. Well, it turned out that his appendix was the size of a beach ball and that he had a tumour the size of a fist. He had surgery and recovered. In the hospital he had a lot of time to think about what he wanted to do with his life.

Mark first joined YouTube on May 26, 2012. He made a YouTube channel called: Markiplier. His first video was a playthrough of a horror game Amnesia the Dark Descent. He played several other games, but unfortunately his channel got deleted for some strange reason. Mark contacted YouTube but he couldn’t get it back. So Mark started a new channel: Markiplier GAME. Mark now uploads all his videos on this channel. Mark has played through loads of different games including Minecraft. Mark made a series called ‘Drunk Minecraft.’ As you probably guessed, he played this game whilst being drunk with a bunch of friends. He had to stop this series because he had a minor heart attack. The doctors told him his body couldn’t break down alcohol. So yeah… more bad luck. Despite the problems he had and the fact that he had to go to the hospital a lot, Mark says he has never been as happy as he is now. Getting to make videos with his friends, who are also very motivated just like him, to create the best content. Mark plays all kinds of different games. His favourite genre of games are horror games. Mark also likes doing silly sketches with friends. Or he uploads silly videos of his dog Chica. Mark is living in LA at the moment. He has a group of very close friends, a lovely girlfriend and of course his dog Chica. His friends help him make his videos and help him with editing. It makes me happy to see how much fun he has with his friends. Just a random fact, Mark has had 4 different hair colours. When he just started out, his hair had his natural colour: black. Then he dyed his hair pink. Now the reason for this is that Mark and some friends were doing a livestream (a live video) to raise money for charity. They said: ’If we raise this amount of money, we’ll all dye our hair’. And they achieved their goal. So this is why Mark dyed his hair pink. After this Mark felt like dyeing his hair blue and after that red. Now Mark has gone back to his original hair colour: black. One of the reasons for this is that if Mark is going to do some acting

jobs, he’ll more likely be chosen with his normal hair colour than bright red. I really love how you can re-watch Marks older videos and you can see ‘The Evolution of Markiplier,’ when looking at his hair colour. I loved his pink hair and red hair but I love his black hair the most. I just realised that the longest paragraph I have written is about Marks hair…. Markiplier has been approached by people who offered him movie roles or roles in plays. Mark said no to these offers because he thinks that that’s not what he came for. He wants to make awesome content for his subscribers. Doing this made him famous. He thinks that he doesn’t deserve these chances just yet. He made a video about this explaining this more, but this is basically what he said. In my opinion, I think he should just take the offers, take this chance. In my opinion he deserves it because he raises a lot of money for different charities every month. I like Marks content but I also like Mark as a person. He is very creative, funny and nice to people. When Mark goes to conventions, he does meetups with fans and when he meets someone he really takes the time to talk to them and to take pictures. On conventions he does some stuff on stage with friends like playing a game or answering questions the audience has. Unfortunately I’ve never met Mark in person but I would love to meet him one day. Markiplier and his friends are going to go on tour in America. I don't really know what they will be doing on stage but I guess they'll be playing some games and joking around. I wish I could go but it's just too far away unfortunately. So, this was my article about Markiplier. It is a bit random and all over the place but I hope you enjoyed it anyway!

He started to work on his YouTube channel in 2012, under the name "jacksepticeye", in which he posted gameplay videos. In 2013, the YouTuber was mentioned in a PewDiePie shout-out video, causing him to gain mass popularity. Although his first video was made on 12 November 2012, he joined YouTube on 24 February 2007. Sean starts all of his videos by saying, "Top of the mornin' to ya laddies! My name is Jacksepticeye!" in a loud tone, which is one of the main reasons he calls himself the "most energetic video-game commentator on YouTube". Sean has a symbol on his channel, named "Septic-Eye-Sam". It is seen on most, if not all, of his merchandise, including plush toys of "Sam". It is the same colour as his green hair, which he dyed Together with his friend, the internet personality: Markiplier. They did this to raise money for charity. All the way is a song that Schmoyoho made(a fan of Sean) created for him and became hugely popular. It has racked up over 53 million views and it’s very catchy. I’m personally a big fan of this song because it’s in the same ‘’mood’ as his other videos and it’s made completely out of references and pieces of clips taken from his videos. Happy wheels is a series that he started in 2013 and ended in 2016. The first episode of HPPY Wheels was an episode that caught my eye when I was bored and looking on the internet. After that I really liked this (maybe too) energetic guy and I’ve been watching him ever since. When I saw the final video appear at his channel I was sad and happy, happy because a new video of Happy Wheels was uploaded, and sad because I knew it would be the last one ever. I want to Say Rest In Peace to all the Happy Wheels videos of Jack. You shall never be forgotten (most likely they will but not for a long time). Sean is 5’9” ( 175 cm). He was born in 1990 on the 7th of February in athlone, Ireland. He ends his videos by shouting: ‘IF YOU ENJOYED THIS VIDEOS, PUNCH THAT LIKE BUTTON IN THE FACE; LIKE A BOSS!!!! AND I SEE ALL YOU DUDES; IN THE NEXT VIDEO!!!!

~ Jacksepticeye ~ By Jop, V2at

Sean William McLoughlin a.k.a. Jacksepticeye is a big hit on YouTube. He's from Ireland. Before he made videos on YouTube, he was the drummer of a band known as Raised to the Ground.

He doesn’t clickbait ( misadvertise) so I like that from him. He is an overall awesome You tuber and I highly recommend him to everyone who’s reading this. Spread positivity and Love to everyone you know and I hope you liked my article.

He said; 'All the talks about me distracts and I don't see myself as the artist who wents from TV Show to TV Show, I just want to make music. She signed her first twoalbum when she was 16 with Arista Records worth more than $2 million. In 2002 she made her first album ''Let go''. - 26 -

Since then she is very popular. After that came 2004’s album ''Under My Skin'', 2007’s album ''The Best Damn'' Thing, 2011’s album ''Goodbye Lullaby'', and last the album ''Avril Lavigne"', which sold more than 40 million albums and over 50 million singles. In total she has 5 albums. The best seller from her is the CD ''The best damn thing''. Her most popular songs are ''Sk8r boy'' and ''Complicated'' they are sold more as 16 million times worldwide. Most of her songs are self-written, she is a singersongwriter. She also plays piano, guitar and the drums. Her last album was from 2013. She is buzzy writing a new one, they say it comes out this year! She didn't wrote songs for a while because she was in a hard time. She doesn't want to say what it was exactly, but we know it was just hard. Now she started writing again and it seems to go very well. She signed just by BMG. The new album is a reflection of her journey over the last few years. She has a whole new and fresh start. She also played in 4 movies, ''The flock'', ''Charming'', ''Fast food nation'' and ''Over the Hedge". In ''the flock'' she played Beatrice Bell. In the movie ''Charming" she was the voice of snow white. She played that movie with other singers like Demi Lovato and Ashely Tisdale. In the movie ''Fast food nation'' she played Alice. And the last movie ''Over the Hedge'' she spoke the voice of Heather in.

She has a own web-shop for clothes, named Abbey dawn. All clothes you can find there are designed by Avril Lavigne. Most of the clothes are things from videoclips or songs she made. You can find her a lot on social media, she has twitter, facebook, snapchat and instagram THE BIG DIFFERENCES We can say, there are more than 100 differnces, but we are only discussing 3 of them now. 1, the stages and the public. Avril lavigne can make the ziggo dome (for example,) sold out, if she want to perform here 4 nights, it will probably be all sold out. Jett rebels biggest performance was in Rotterdam Ahoy, and guess what, it even was not sold out. 2, followers. Because jett rebel is only famous in the Netherlands, it’s obvious that he does not have that many followers like avrile lavigne. The difference is 4.765.600 million followers. 3, famous. 10 years ago everyone knew Avril Lavigne. But when we ask 10 Dutch people, who is JettRebel, the chance is big that only 3 of them will know him. We hope you all liked this story.

WWE Stars Are Getting Married By Jordy, B2AT

One side represents me and one side represents her and the four means the years we’ve been together to come to centre point. … The centre point is a 4.5 carat round brilliant cut Tiffany diamond that represents the four and a half years we took to get right here,” Cena added. “As with everything that we do for each other, there's always meaning behind it." The engaged couple is in the planning phase at this moment, but Cena is set to return to the WWE on July 4th. Nikki is said to take a break from the company. WWE Superstar, rapper and movie star John Cena has recently proposed to his long-time girlfriend Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace. He did what Nikki has been waiting for at Wrestlemania, the biggest Wrestling event of the year right after beating Michael Gregory “The Miz” Mizanin and his wife Maryse Quellet in a mixed tag team match. John and Nikki have been together ever since 2012 and both have been wrestling in the WWE all those years but never wrestled as a team until The Miz and Maryse challenged them for a match at Wrestlemania for the title of “Power Couple” Cena did not want marriage or children at all. He says that he is too busy for kids and he was still afraid to marry again after divorcing in 2012. “I found the absolute right person,” Cena said on an episode of the Today show. “A strong person that I consider an inspiration, an equal. Somebody who when I’m feeling down picks me up. Somebody when she’s down I can pick her up.”. Nikki said on the same night “I never actually would’ve thought that he would propose in front of all those people, but that’s home for us,” “It’s where we met. It’s our passion, it’s our life and so, for me, it was kind of like he’s my prince charming and he’s just saying I want her to be my queen at her home and in front of our family. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for it to be any other way. It was perfect.”

Cena himself is currently doing various TV Shows including American Grit (Shown on FOX). He also acts in the movie “The Wall” in one of his most intense acting roles right now! Nikki Bella is not as active as Cena mainly being shown on a shared Youtube channel with her sister Brie “The Bella Twins”. Nikki also says she receives more respect ever since Cena asked the question. "I’m like, 'John, people treat me differently because they just look at me as a girlfriend,' and unfortunately that's our world," Bella continued. "Now all of a sudden -- just within hours of him putting a ring on it and asking me to be his wife -- it is crazy the level of respect people have for me." Cena also said that he himself wants to make this day perfect for Nikki. A main question I am asking myself is “What car will Cena use to drive there?” he is a massive car collector and shows some of them on the channel of his fiancé and her twin sister. The wedding will be filmed so that the public eye can see them marry after all those years. So after beating “The Miz” and Maryse at Wrestlemania, the 2 wrestlers got engaged and are now in the plannig phases, Cena is active in the planning despite his busy schedule. And will be shown on the reality show “Total Bella’s”

Cena, who has been known as a professional wrestler, rapper, movie actor, reality TV star and a internet meme (Yes this is the man who pops up during Youtube videos!) has designed the ring himself "The ring represents our entire relationship up until this point. If you look at the stones on the side, there are four individual stones on each side. NINTH ISSUE

However, they land some distance from the intended target and soon face other problems. Confronting both the wonders and the dangers of this rugged new world, they struggle to form a tentative community. The teens soon discover that not all humanity was wiped out. Some survived the nuclear apocalypse: the Grounders who live in clans locked in a permanent power struggle another group of Grounders who have become cannibals, known as Reapers and Mountain Men who live in Mount Weather who locked themselves away before the apocalypse and are killed by the residual radiation if they go outside. We think these are the best action TV show until now. So if you have some free time go and defiantly check these TV shows out. These shows are fun to watch and they take you into the shoes of the heroes.

Get to Know Our Teachers By Sem & Nina, V2at

In this article we interviewed some of our teachers to get to know them better and compare them with each other.

Ms. van der Sleen; Math teacher

I chose it also in order to keep my job at Sintermeertencollege, because each year some teachers transfer to another school and this would give me an advantage to be able to stay at Sintermeertencollege In order to become a TTO teacher I followed a course at Mrs Heüter and Mrs Romano and it took me 2 years ( every day in the week 2 hours ). I did the exam three times and the third time I passed. It took me so long because the first two times the circumstances were bad.

What do students do that irritates you the most?

Do you want to tell us about your time as a student and what kind of student you were?

I started on secondary school with HAVO and after that I did HBO. I first started studying to become nurse because I wanted to become an obstetrician. I didn’t finish because they worked with a PGO-system and I found it hard to estimate what I had to do and I always thought that I had to do less than I was supposed to do. After that I started with the teachers training and it took me a while to finish it. I wanted to become math teacher because I was good at math on secondary school. I was always good at subjects in which you didn’t have to use math and subjects that had to do with didactics. I was a lazy student and if I didn’t have to do something compulsory I also wouldn’t do it. I sometimes played truant on the teachers training but never on secondary school.

Why did you choose to become a TTO teacher? I had the feeling that my job started to get boring because I was always doing and explaining the same, so I wanted my job to become a bit more challenging.

When student whisper and tell lies, for example when I ask students in the beginning of the lesson whether everyone has his homework or not and no one says something, but when I walk around the classroom to check everyone’s homework individually, some students raise their hand very fast to say that they don’t have their homework.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to read, bake with my children and to go jogging.

If you didn’t become a teacher, what would you want to be? (This question is to compare the interests of the teachers) A. B. C. D. E.

What is your hidden talent? I don’t know. I’m not good at singing, dancing or painting and I’m also not lithe.

What is your favourite shop?

Hema because you can get a lot of different things and it’s affordable. They always have nice designs and colours and prints on their products.

What is on your bucket list?

I would really like to do voluntary work in Africa. I would also like to join in such a journey with one of our school projects. At first I wanted to become obstetrician so I could join Doctors Without Borders.

What qualities do you think a math teacher needs in order to perform well?

What do you think is the best and the most stupid thing about your work? The nicest thing about my work is to be able to work with children. The most stupid thing about my work is that I don't have anything to do very often. When I'm bored I always try to find another little job to do.

What do students do that irritates you the most? I don’t like it when students don’t listen. For example when I say something and a student ignores me.

What qualities do you think a janitor needs in order to perform well? He should always listen to the students and he has to be able to deal with people because if you can’t deal with your colleagues, you can’t keep up on a school.

A teacher needs to have patience and should be able to explain things in different ways. A teacher also needs to be able to adapt to the level of a student.

If you didn’t become a teacher, what would you want to be? (This question is to compare the interests of the teachers)

Did you know that... Mrs. van der Sleen is very curious and actually wants to know everything.

A lawyer, because with this job you also have to deal with people and listen to them. I like this because I’m a very social person.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to work in the garden. I, for example, have to make sure there is enough wood for our fire inside and I have 28 chickens.

If you would be a teacher, what subject would you like to teach? Technology, because that is just what I like.

Do you want to tell us about your time as a student and what kind of student you were? I went to the LTS and I studied for carpenter. I never played truant. I also was a motivated student and I always finished my homework on time.

What is on you bucket list? I would like to go to America, because I have family in Denver (Colorado).

Did you know that… Mr. Paffen most of the time talks to his students in dialect.

Mr. Reinders; Department leader

You need to be consistent and you must be able to interact with people.

If you didn’t become a teacher, what would you want to be? (This question is to compare the interests of the teachers) A. B. C. D. E.

Do you want to tell us about your time as a student and what kind of student you were? I went to Sintermeertencollege from 1991 until I finished. There were less rules than nowadays. I always really liked this school and some of the teachers who taught me back then, still teach nowadays. After I finished Sintermeertencollege I started with the training for teachers for history but I was in doubt because I always liked history but on the other side I was also interested in economics but that didn’t work out because I was terrible at doing maths. I really liked the training for teachers and I always was a good student. After that I started working at Sintermeertencollege. After that I directly started a training in Tilburg to teach history to the upper classes. That was really hard for me because I had to study and work at the same time. After that I started working full time on Sintermeertencollege.

Disk jockey Dental hygienist Pathologist Psychologist Lawyer

A lawyer, because I am interested in the rules that people have to stick to and the consequences that will be applied if you don’t.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to watch the football matches of my sons, I like to make long walks and I prefer to do that in the summer holidays, in the Alps for example.

If you wouldn’t be a history teacher, what subject would you like to teach?

Geography, because with geography you discuss natural phenomena and that’s something I like very much.

What’s on your bucket list? I have always wanted to jump with a parachute.

Mr. Zijlstra; History teacher

What do you think is the best and the most stupid thing about your work?

The part I like the most about my job is to talk with my pupils about history, because it’s really nice to tell them stories, to make them enthusiastic about history and to make sure they understand everything about history. The part I don’t like about my job is to keep up all the stuff like essays, reports, etc.…

What do students do that irritates you the most?

I don’t like it when pupils are not honest to me and that I have to ask a lot of questions to make sure that they speak the truth.

What qualities do you think a department leader needs in order to perform well?

Do you want to tell us about your time as a student and what kind of student you were? I went to Hendrik van Veldeke college in Maastricht for five years and I did the profile of economics. I decided to study history because I liked history. At that time, 1972, studying history became just possible for people like me doing HBS. I started studying at Leiden university and I enjoyed that very much.

In 1977 I was appointed as an assistant because one of our teachers was appointed to do research on a war crime for the Dutch government and he couldn’t work at the same time. I was appointed as an assistant on the Dutch East-Indian company project and I had to do research in the national archives of the Netherlands in the Hague. This resulted in publishing a couple of books. In 1980 I applied as a teacher in 's-Gravenzande, which is near the Hague. In 1981 I applied as a teacher at Sintermeertencollege and ever since I have been working here at Sintermeertencollege. As a student I had quite some self-discipline and I was not lazy. I lived in a student’s house and I was the one who did the shopping and cooking.

Why did you choose to become a TTO teacher?

In 2011, when Mr. Thönissen became headmaster of the school, he set up a bilingual department at Sintermeertencollege. I always liked international contact and I’ve been abroad a lot of times. Teaching history in English seemed like a challenge and I liked to try it. We all had to take the Cambridge exam and I was very anxious to take that exam, because I hadn’t taken any exam since my driving exam, which was 35 years ago. I took the Cambridge exam in 2012 and I passed at the highest possible level.

What do students do that irritates you the most? Talking, because of my hearing problem. For example, it might be that they are discussing their work together, but at the same time they can take advantage of the fact that I can’t hear that well.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I sing in a big choir called the Heerlense Oratoriumvereniging and I have been singing all the time since I was a student in all kinds of choirs: students choirs, church choirs, Opera choirs and now in the Oratorium choir. I like to listen to classical music, I have a lot of cd’s and I’m very fund of my Hi-Fi equipment at home. I like to cycle, walk, cook and travel.

If you didn’t become a teacher, what would you want to be? (This question is to compare the interests of the teachers) A. B. C. D. E.

I would choose to be a psychologist, although I don’t like the studies, but I can judge on what students are like in their attitudes and the progress they make. Being a teacher actually has some psychological aspects.

What is your hidden talent? Singing, playing word games in the newspaper and cracking codes with numbers.

What qualities do you think a history teacher needs in order to perform well? He must love his subject and he must know a lot about the subject, far more than what’s in the book so you can explain and give other examples. You must be able to explain things at least in 3 different ways and at different levels.

What’s on your bucket list? Travelling: 1. Going to the United States to visit my family. 2. Going to Austria where we have an apartment 3. Going to the German town Bamberg, because it’s an old medieval town with over a thousand monuments of buildings, I haven’t seen it and I really want to see it. 4. Going to Australia.

What do you think is the best and the most stupid thing about your work? The thing I like the most about my work is to explain, talk, show and looking for materials to show. The thing I don’t like about my work is filling in the forms in SOM.

If you wouldn’t be a history teacher, what subject would you like to teach? Instead of history I would like to teach languages like Dutch, English and German.

Did you know that… Mr. Zijlstra is famous, in his family, for cooking Indian meals.

Top Five of Unique Schools By Bryan, V2at

From extremely good technology to the weirdest subjects, rules or places. In this article we are going to talk about the top 5 most unique schools in the world. This article is my own opinion and it does only contain real schools.

talked about and envied kindergarten in Japan and this is most likely because of its shild free envirement. The reason why this school is on this list is because of its beautiful and unique looking design compared to other kindergartens.

5. Ørestad gymnasium

3. Burgess hill school

Ørestad High School is a public school in the Ørestad district of Copenhagen, which is in the country Denmark. It is noted for its innovative architecture, favouring open studying space instead of normal classrooms and for its mediaoriented profile focusing on media, communications and culture. From its opening in 2005-2007 it belonged to the University of Copenhagen Faculty of Humanities. On May 10, 2007, the school moved to a purpose-built building. The reason this school deserves to be on this school is because of its unique, open design.

Burgess hill school located in the suburbs of London is a school without any rules, students were allowed to do anything and did not have to take tests or even go to classes if they wanted to. The school has been closed, but back in 1960 the school was considered a great success. The reason this school is on this list, even though it doesn’t exist anymore, is of course because it didn’t have any rules and this is not seen anywhere else.

2. School of the Future

4. Fuji yochien

Fuji montessori kindergarten ( fuji yochien ) is a oval shaped school, designed for 500 children and it serves children for both working and nonworking parents. It is conceived as a single village. The reason that this school deserves to be on this list is of course because of its futuristic ( for 2006 since that is when it was built) design and way of teaching.

Junior Speaking Contest

1. Witch school

By Denise, V2at

The witch school is a school wich offers both online courses and on their two campuses in Chicago, Illinois and Salem, Massachusetts. The school was founded by Rev. Ed Hubbard. The website was opened in 2001. The site offers numerous different courses in Wicca, Paganism, Divinatory Arts, and more. Over 240.00 students have joined the site since its opening. On April 1, 2009, Witch School added educational portals for the United Kingdom, Europe, and South Africa. Anna Rowe became Dean and Head of School for UK and Europe, and Raene Packery became Dean and Head of School for South Africa. The reason this school is on this list is quite clear, because ( you can schoose for yourself whether you believe in magic or not ) most of the people in the world do not believe actual magic exists and for a school to be made for something that is believed not to exist is quite rare. As you can see there are quite some unique, weird or cool ( however you would call it ) but of course there are way more and you can decide for yourself which school you find most unique or interesting.

I participated in the Junior Speaking contest 2017 with my speech about my deceased father. It was an interesting experience, giving a speech about my dad who passed away from lung cancer last year. I learned to put my emotions on paper and talk about it in front of a group of people who had listened carefully to what I had to say.   My father had been diagnosed with lung cancer for about one and a half years, he passed away on the 29th  of  July  2016.  He chose to get euthanasia because he couldn't handle the pain anymore. In my speech I talked about the process of his illness and how I felt and still feel about it, and how hard it was for me to deal with this process and going to my dad's funeral at the age of 13.  Mrs Rosenberg helped me to optimize the speech and rehearse it afterwards.   Mrs Rosenberg, two pupils of the 3rd year, my friend and I went to a school in Venlo. When we arrived we got some drinks. A bit later I had the opportunity to rehearse before giving my speech. There were other pupils from other schools giving their speeches before me. Those were inspiring as well. Then it was my turn, I think it went pretty well and I believe the message reached the people. I didn't win the trophy for best speech, but it didn't really matter for me because I was happy with the fact that I stood there and talked about a dark, hard part of my life in front of all these people.  I also talked about how people shouldn't curse with the word "cancer" because unless you have dealt this closely with a loss due to this illness, you have no idea how insulting it is to hear this term being used in such a manner.  If they asked me to do this a few months ago, so recently after the death of my father, I couldn't have done it.  Nowadays I am able to talk about the process of the euthanasia of my dad.  My advice to you is to cherish every moment you have with your family and make memories that you can carry with you your entire life.

Best Dutch Players This Season By Maarten & Enis, V2at

Despite the fact that they didn’t manage to qualify for the European Championship, the Netherlands has been bouncing back this season with a lot of Dutch players performing well for their respective clubs. Below are the Dutch players who in our opinion have had the best performances in the 16/17 season.

Arjen Robben – FC Bayern Munich Even at the age of 33, left winger Arjen Robben’s not looking like he’s slowing down. With an impressive number of 10 goals to his name, he’s been one of the top performers for his club. Even though early injuries prevented him from scoring more, which he would’ve done, he still showed some pure moments of class against toptier sides like Arsenal FC and FC Borussia Dortmund. He is most importantly known for his move where he runs down the right wing, goes to the left until he’s in a scoring positions, and well, scores. This is called cutting inside. Everybody knows that he does it, but they still can’t stop it. This is only one of his many moves.

Tahith Chong – Manchester United U18 Playing with the Manchester United U18s since July 2016, left winger Tahith Chong has left quite an impression on those who saw him. Many clubs watched him during his time at Feyenoord, with Manchester United eventually snapping him up. He was born in Curacao, which means he could have chosen between playing for Curacao or playing for the Netherlands. He chose

The Netherlands, and has been playing with the Dutch U19s for over half a year now. He is quite remarkable, not only because of his silly hairstyle, but also because of the skills he’s been showing when he plays. He normally uses his speed to outrun the defenders and throw a strong cross into the box, but he has showed that he has enough skills to dribble into the box and be really composed in front of goal as well. Holding a promising future, this player can go on to be one of the world’s best.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah–Manchester U. Again, somebody who’s playing for Manchester United. This time though, it’s not in the youth category, but in the senior squad. That’s pretty impressive for somebody 19 years old, isn’t it? That’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah for you. A defensiveminded midfielder who looks like he definitely is good enough to stay with Manchester United. He arrived from the Ajax U17s two seasons ago, and now he is already in the first team. He is described as somebody who can win the ball, and throw it quickly forward, because of his impressive speed and acceleration. His quick tackles have been able to take the ball, and his eye for good passes has made him a good all-round midfielder. He is yet to play a match for the senior Netherlands national team, but I can’t imagine it’ll last too long before he gets a call-up.

Riechedly Bazoer - Vfl Wolfsburg

defence of AZ. In January 2015 he signed a contract with Lazio until 1 January 2019 who didn't have to pay a transfer fee because his contract with AZ was finished. Lazio rewarded his development over the last two years where he played 55 games for Lazio in which he regularly started. He has a teammate who also is a Dutch centre back. Speak of the devil…

Stefan de Vrij – Lazio Roma Bazoer is an incredible talent. He played for PSV until the 017 squad and became a youth international. After that he made a quite sensitive switch to Ajax. He also had the possibility to sign for Manchester City but his mother didn't want him to go England when he was only 16 years old. His last season for Ajax was a disappointment because he had fallen out of flavor with the new manager Peter Bosz. But the 15/16 season didn't disapoint at all because he picked up five goals and four assists from his central midfield role. Napoli tried to by him in the summer of 2016 because he wanted to stay with Ajax. But after the new boss Peter Bosz who he made clear he didn't want to fight for his place he made the move on 14 december 2016 to Vfl Wolfsburg for 12 million Euro's. And this was a blaig if you realise he earned the award for Ajax talent of the year in 2016. And also that he has impressive characteristics like long range shooting ability and his passing and dribbling are also two of his big strenghts. He has started in 4 games for Wolfsburg and hopefully there a lot more to come.

Wesley Hoedt - Lazio Roma

There aren't many Dutch players in the Serie A, but Lazio does have someone who’s been really good this season. He is Wesley Hoedt, a 23 year old who recently made his international debut for the Netherlands. Before this, he played in several of the Dutch youth squads. He is a product from the AZ academy which is known as one of the best academy's in the Netherlands. He made his debut on 12 December 2013 for AZ and in the season 14/15 he became a solid strength in the centre of the

There he is, the other Lazio player. Stefan de Vrij, a 5 year old centre back. He came from the Feyenoord academy, where he made his debut for on 6 December 2009. He already made his debut for the Dutch national team in 2012. He got selected at the same time as the captain of Feyenoord. Right now he has 30 caps for the Netherlands and he played in all the Dutch youth squads before he got selected for the senior squad. In 2014 he transferred from Feyenoord to Lazio for 7.5 million euros, and that arguably isn't that much considering the rumours with clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United who are more than willing to pay over 25 million euros for him.

Nathan Ake - Chelsea There are two Dutch defenders in the EPL who are both having a great season and a lot of potential. Of course I'm talking about Nathan Ake and Virgil van Dijk. The first one, Nathan Ake came from the youth academy from Feyenoord where he played until 2011 and that year he signed for Chelsea. In his first year he was awarded as the most promising player of the year. At this moment he is 22-years old and already made several appearances for the first team. He made his debut on the 26th of December 2012.

In august 2015 he extended his contract until 2020. He played on loan for several teams since 2015 for example Reading, Watford, and AFC Bournemouth. He really impressed with the last two. The first part of this season he played for AFC Bournemouth, but Chelsea thought he played so well he returned to Chelsea as a player of the first team.

Virgil van Dijk - Southampton The other Dutch EPL defender with loads of potential and already is fulfilling that potential with his solid way of playing and being one of the keystones of Southampton this season, and even maybe the most important. At this moment his leadership is missed at Southampton because of a knee injury. He is 26-years old and already has played more than 40 matches in England. He started in the youth academy of Willem II when he was 11-years old. When he was 19-years old he went to FC Groningen because the coach of Willem II didn’t want to give him a place in the first team (big mistake). He made his debut in professional football on 11 May 2011 for FC Groningen. On the 21st of June 2013 he transferred from Fc Groningen to Celtic for 3 million euros. In his first and second season with Celtic, they won both titles and due to his performances he earned his transfer to Southampton who paid 18 million euros to get him in 2015. Right now he is linked to Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool who are all willing to pay 60 million euros for him which would make him the most expensive Dutch player ever.

Eredivisie 2016/2017 By Pieke & Faysel, B2a

3. Jens Toornstra (Right Winger/Attacking Midfielder): He scored 8 goals in his 1st season and just 2 in his 2th season for Feyenoord. But he showed us where he is capable off. This season he scored 14 goals and gave 11 assist!

We will talk about the Eredivisie, last season was an exciting and fantastic. From an unexpected Champion to an very old cup winner. And of course the Europa League adventure of Ajax. Transfers and Rumours and at last the Eredivisie star team.

The story of Feyenoord. Feyenoord are the Dutch Champions. There were a lot of important players but we chose only 5 players. 1.Dirk Kuyt (Striker/Attacking Midfielder): Dirk Kuyt (36) was this season the captain of Feyenoord, He made himself immortal by scoring a hat-trick (3 goals) in the last and deciding match of the season against Heracles Almelo. Although he didn’t play most matches in 2017 he made some important goals, But from his 12 goals, the amazing header against Ajax, is the most important. 2. Nicolai Jorgensen(Striker): Jorgensen was bought in the Summer of 2016 from FC Kopenhavn for 3.5 Million Euros. He only scored 10 goals in his previous season, but he has shown us that he was worth the money as he scored 21 goals and gave 11 assist. This is what made him a better striker than previous players, e.g. Kramer, Richards.

4. Karim el Ahmadi (Central Midfielder): El Ahmadi normally never scores but this season was amazing for ALL players of Feyenoord. He scored 5 times and gave 1 assist. But El Ahmadi was more important in his defensive role as he has a pass accuracy of 85%. 5. Brad Jones (Keeper): Brad Jones came for free from NEC as 2th keeper to replace the injured Vermeer, But Jones had other plans and showed that he was worth the number 1 spot, the former Liverpool keeper had 17 clean sheets this season.

Predictions 2017/2018

Of course next season will be very exciting, therefore we made a league table predication, It was hard to decide but we chose Feyenoord as our champion, we expect them to win another title and beat Ajax, the cup winner is very hard to predict because a lot can happen in cup-tied games. We think that it will result in a final between AZ and Heerenveen and a and result of 1-2 for the Frisian side. And PSV will be 3th for the second time. When looking at the bottom of the league we see NAC Breda relegating in their 1st season in the Eredivisie. Arch-rival Willem II will have go in the play-offs just as PEC Zwolle. ADO Den Haag will play themselves on the brink of relegation, Roda will have a much better season and almost play for European football.

Learning while Gaming How video games can be educational

By Keanu, B1dt

There are so many Games out there, but are they Educational? Yes! There are a ton of games out there which can be Educational in a way, But not all of them are Educational. Games such as Minecraft and Portal or Portal 2 have been suggested as platforms for teachers to experiment with their educational abilities. Minecraft is a Sandbox Game in which the user can create objects using the Crafting Table, while Portal is a Physics game: the player uses the Laws of Physics, such as Gravity, to advance through the game's series of test chambers. Critical Thinking and problem solving are important in the game's design. Both Minecraft and Portal are easily adaptable to different learning environments; Minecraft tends to be used more with young children while Portal is typically used by high school physics teachers. Other games, such as the Guitar Hero and Rock band franchises, have been used to provide insight to the basic nature of education in video games. Success at these games requires the player to first fail multiple times – this is the only way to learn the proper actions. These games also provide real-time feedback on how well the player is doing, an area in which traditional educational systems are lacking. The main advantage with video games is that there is nothing to lose from failing, unlike in real life, where failing usually results in negative consequences, students who have played Europa

Barbarorum, had knowledge of historical geography beyond the scope taught during the basic Ancient History course. They were able to identify the most important stages of civilization development in the case of states of the Hellenistic era and were very knowledgeable about military history and history of art. This knowledge was in large part derived from the comprehensive descriptions included in the game; students also admitted that after playing the game they were much more eager to turn to books dealing with the given historical period. Games like Monster legends teach how to raise a virtual pet or pets and get resources to feed them and train them. Or Clash of Clans which teaches you a bit of History and Ancient creatures like Dragons. Of course they never are realistic, a realistic aspect of regular Life. I know it sounds ridicules but Battlefield 1 can be educational there is History involved because ‘’Living” the historic moments by yourself; The time of Napoleon, WWII, and many more important moments in History. Most games aren’t educational but a there are a lot who are, so basically Minecraft, Portal and Guitar Hero are (and in my opinion) the most educational because then Minecraft is a creative game, Portal with the law of physics and Guitar hero for a proper failing test for learning that failing is not a problem and you should learn.

Top 5 best 2 - 2.5D Games 2017 By Philippe, B2at

This top list is based on my own opinion and what I think of these games and from what I know. In the 1970s the first games were made, it was not popular that time but later in the 1980s it became more popular and consoles became more affordable like the Atari 2600. The programmers didn’t have the technology to make 3D games but they could make 2d games like the game: Pong. Nowadays, 2d games are still popular and are still played a lot. So here is a top 5: 2d and 2.5d games I like the most.

Number 3: The final station

Number 5: Undertale

The Final station is a 2d pixelated game where you play as a guy in the middle of a zombie apocalypse where you go with a train to dark, abandoned places where you have to go and explore for ammo, medical stuff and people that help you on a train. You have to go through various places with a train every level is different with different houses to explore and underground basements, there are different ways to finish a level and is very hard so you will be playing a lot levels again and again. It has a very good story without any people talking, only by lost files and mails. The game has a very good sound design and good pixel-art. This is why it is on the number 4.

Undertale is a 2d pixelated game with some really simple pixel-art. Undertale is made by just one person on gamemaker: studio. He made the game in such a way that everyone gets a different story and it can differ from 2 hours to 6 hours. In Undertale you play as a child who has to complete different objectives to complete and progress through the story. In Undertale you have to complete a lot of puzzles and you have to explore different underground towns and caves. I think this game gets the 5th place because it’s a really fun game if you are bored or just want a good 2d game.

Number 2: Ori and the blind forest

Number 4: Mr. Shifty

Mr. Shifty is a 2.5D game about a guy who is a thief and has to steal things in various well-guarded buildings. To get to the room he needs, he need to get to a higher floor and every floor is one level. He has only 3 abilities: To teleport, to punch guards and to pick up weapons. All these 3 abilities you have to combine to play through a level. Some levels are really hard, and with some levels you have to think, but you also need to be really fast. Pros: it has a nice design and it’s really fun to play. You can use different ways to finish a level. Cons: It’s only 3 hours so you’re finished really fast.

Ori and the blind forest is a 2d game with 2 characters. When Ori was born, it got adopted by a creature called Naru and raised Ori. Ori is a white guardian spirit of a tree which is the spirit tree of the forest. Ori and the blind forest got in total 8 awards because of the amazing story, the good art and the soundtracks. The gameplay is fun and it has a lot of levels, at least 8 hours. The game has a lot of secret places which you can explore. In my opinion this has the number 3 because it a really fun to play game and good art, but it can be a bit boring after playing 2 hours

Terraria

Number 1: INSIDE

Inside is a side-scrolling 2.5d game about a boy who doesn’t talk and who has to run away from humans. When the boy puts a helmet on he can control zombies. The only way to finish Inside is by walking to the right and keep going further: like Super Mario Bros. The boy can only do 4 things: Walking, grabbing, jumping and controlling zombies with a helmet. As you go through the story you have to finish a lot of levels to go further. The puzzles are very hard and you just have to be logical to finish the levels and sometimes you just have to study some things: like when a dog goes behind you, you have to climb up and go to the other side of the fence so the dog has to go around so you get time to get further. Inside is a very dark game with only using 3 colours in the game: red (the boys’ shirt) white and black. I think Inside has definitely a message behind the game but I still don’t know what the message means. When you watch a little better and solving a puzzle you will see a lot of small details and the environment is really scary sometimes and that makes it great. The story is very hard understandable in my opinion because you only can see because there is nobody who talks in it. The game doesn’t have any soundtracks but still without any music it can be very dark and intense. Inside gets the 1st place because I think it is a very good game because of the story, puzzles, way of telling a story. Other good 2d games: Limbo

Limbo is a 2d game about a boy who has to finish puzzles to go through the story. It is made by the same people of Inside but it is only black and white. It’s made before Inside. If you like inside, you will like Limbo too.

Terraria is a 2d game about surviving and building big houses, castles and whatever you want. It’s a generated game so every game has a different world. It’s not really hard to understand and also very fun. Badland

Badland is a 2d game about a creature that can only fly and go forward. To finish Badland you have to finish a lot of puzzles and hard parts, you will die a lot. It also has a 4 player coop mode so you can play with friends on just one screen and you can even play levels made by other people. Oxenfree

Oxenfree is a decision based game about some people on an adventure where you have to build up good relations with good sides of these people and the bad/ darker side. You will have a lot of conversations and you will get some creepy feelings sometimes. Conclusion: So this was my list about the top 5 best 2/2.D games 2017. There are definitely more good games but these are all the games I know. Some games are really simple but have a good storyline and others have a good art but no storyline. Some games are based on my own experience and some I didn’t play.

For the people who live in Alicante, the Explanada España is a meeting place for families and friends. You can also visit Alicante's most popular museum; 'Plaza de Toros', which is an old bull-fighting arena of Alicante. Nowadays you can't go there to watch bull-fighting, because that's not allowed anymore, but you can still see how bull-fighting was in the past. Table mountain, located in South-Africa, is one of the high flat areas, the mountain is flat at the top, which is why it's called 'table mountain. A lot of people visit it every year to climb to the top and have a wonderful view over Cape Town. Besides this, it has a lot of churches, that is why it is also referred as 'City of Saints' sometimes. It has some museums to visit and it is surrounded by parks. You can also hike and skydive there.

The city of Sedona, a city in the state Arizona, which is a state in the United States. It is one of the four corner states, which is named liked that, because it's the only location in the United states where four different states meet each other. Things to See in London

By Piene & Meyke ,B1dt

When you fly over London you can see the most beautiful things. Tower bridge The beginning of the Tower Bridge started in 1886 and it was finished in 1894. It is named to the Tower of London. The Tower Bridge is about the most famous river in London. The Thames. They wanted the Tower Bridge to look like an old bridge. She used in the construction of the tower bridge and entrance to the London port it opened 5 times a day. The tower bridge was designed by Sir Horance Jones. At the time he was the city architect London. The Tower Bridge was used as a bridge for vehicles and pedestrians. Buckingham Palace Buckingham palace was built in 1703 for John Sheffield. Buckingham palace is the working headquarters of the monarchy, where the queen and the duke of Edinburgh live in the private apartments on the North side are occupied by other members of the Royal Family. Much of the ground floor and South wing of the Palace are used by Household staff. The principal State rooms used for court ceremonies and official entertaining occupy the main West block. The Underground Underground were opened about 400 m (440 yard) to the west in 1941 to make interchanging between the sub-surface lines and the tube lines easier; the 1868 platforms later became the former King's Cross Thameslink station, which closed on 9 December 2007 when the Thameslink service moved to St Pancras International.

One of the platforms may be seen from Underground trains between the present station and Farringdon. The Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (GNP&BR, now part of the Piccadilly line) platforms opened with the rest of the line in December 1906, while the City & South London Railway (C&SLR, now part of the Northern line) arrived in May 1907. The Victoria line platforms came into use on 1 December 1968 with the opening of the second phase of the line. The Victoria line escalators cut through the location of the original Piccadilly line lifts Kings Cross A tunnel leading to the Pentonville Road entrance (formerly a connection to the Thameslink platforms) The first underground station at King's Cross opened as part of the original section of the Metropolitan Railway in 1863 and was rearranged in 1868 and 1926. New platforms for the subsurface lines of the Memorial plaque to the 1987 fire in the station. On 18 November 1987 the station was the scene of a devastating fire that killed 31 people. The cause was attributed to a lit match falling into the space under the escalator, setting fire to the grease and rubbish present there, then to the wooden parts of the escalator. The thenunknown fire phenomenon of the trench effect made the fire develop upwards and finally caused it to explode into the station. As a result, fire safety procedures on the Underground were tightened, staff training was improved and wooden steps on escalators were replaced with metal ones. The existing prohibition of smoking throughout the London Underground network was tightened. Due to the extensive damage caused by the fire, it took over a year to repair and reopen the station;

the Northern line platforms and the escalators from the ticket hall to the Piccadilly line remained closed until 5 March. Big Ben

The dial of the Great Clock of Westminster. The hour hand is 9 feet (2.7 m) long and the minute hand is 14 feet (4.3 m) long. The clock and dials were designed by Augustus Pugin. The clock dials are set in an iron frame 23 feet (7.0 m) in diameter, supporting 312 pieces of opal glass, rather like a stained-glass window. Some of the glass pieces may be removed for inspection of the hands. The surround of the dials is gilded. At the base of each clock dial in gilt letters is the Latin inscription:

DOMINE SALVAM FAC REGINAM NOSTRAM VICTORIAM PRIMAM Which means O Lord, keep safe our Queen Victoria the First. Unlike most other Roman numeral clock dials, which show the '4' position as 'IIII', the Great Clock faces depict '4' as 'IV' Conclusion

Big Ben is the nickname for Great Bell of the clock at the North end of the Palace of Westminster in London and usually extended to refer to both the Clock Tower as well. The tower is officially known as Elizabeth Tower. Renamed to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth 11 in 2012 previously, it was known simply as the Clock Tower. When completed in 1859, it was, says clockmaker Ian Westworth , the prince of timekeepers: the biggest most accurate four-faced striking and chiming clock in the world. The tower had its 150th anniversary on 31 may 2009, during which celebratory events took place. A British cultural icon, the tower is one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom and is often in the establishing shot of films in London.

Our conclusion is that there are a lot of beautiful things in London and we think that you must see all that things. It is capital of Great-Britain and a lot of rich people want to live in this beautiful city. It was also very interesting to learn all this new things. So the conclusion is it was a very nice project.

Social media is a website or a app were it is possible for everyone to share information, pictures, text or videos. Most of the time it is possible to respond the information or share it further. Social media has two sides, the positive things and the negative things: • You can communicate with anyone around the whole world. • Social media is an umbrella term for all internet applications, making it possible to share information in a user friendly and often fun way. • Social media helps people to make friend. • Social media makes learning easier. • Social media is good for democracy. • Social Media Helps Raise $$$ Millions for Good Causes. • These social networking sites have opened the opportunity for all the writers and bloggers to connect with their tech savvy clients to share your expertise and articles. • One of the negative effects of social media or network is it leads to addiction. Spending countless hours on the social sites can divert the focus and attention from a particular task. It lowers the motivational level of the people, especially of the teenagers and students. They mainly rely on technology and the internet instead of learning the practical knowledge and expertise of the everyday life.

Kids can be greatly affected by these social networking sites if they are allowed to use them. it's very easy for them to get to inappropriate sites. Another downside of the social media is that the user shares too much information which may pose threats to them. Even with the tight security settings your personal information may leak on the social sites. Downloading your videos or pictures and copying your status is an easy task and can be done within few clicks. Cyber bullying and stalking could take place. Sharing too much. Waste of time. We agree that social media is good, but ‘too much of a …’ you know how it goes. Spending too much time can also affect your child negatively and often lead to social media addiction. Addiction can manifest itself as various symptoms and may even affect your child’s physical health.

So as you can read there are two sides of social media. The most popular social media applications are:

Creating your own language, a thing created by humans so organic and elegant. Something that would normally take years upon years to evolve from the rudimentary forms in the beginning, to the beautiful complex structures of the language, formed and shaped by history. How do you do it yourself? First, think about how your words will be pronounced. Will there be lots of hard sounds like ‘k’ and ‘ch’? Will it have soft sounds like ‘v’s’? Will contain short powerful syllables such as ‘ka’, or syllables with three parts like ‘bul’ (b’u’l) or ‘jang’ (j’a’ng)? You don’t need to come up with words yet, we’ll do that later, but do consider the sounds as it can help in the next stage, making an alphabet, as you’ll want a fitting alphabet for these sounds. Now, start by doing what the Korean king Sejong (세종대왕) the Great did in the 15th century, create a writing system! In the beginning, the Koreans used Chinese characters to write down their language. Because the Korean language did not blend in well with the Chinese characters, there were only a few people who could actually read and write Korean, it was simply too difficult to learn for most of the (poor) people. That is why the king decided to make a new writing system, then, Hangeul was created. Because it was so easy to write and read, it was a hit! Think about functionality, but also about the looks. You can make it look as elegant or as basic as you want. You can even try to look at real writing systems and base them on those. There are a few types of writing systems you can use; you have alphabets, the one we have, abugidas, which have syllables as the main element, combined with a diacritic symbol,

which changes the vowel of the syllable, for the abugidas. There are also 'normal' syllabaries, which for example, have separate symbols for ka (か in Japanese) and ke (け in Japanese). Then we have pictograms and ideograms, pictograms visually resemble the word it is, while ideograms represent abstract ideas, like three being three stripes in Chinese and Japanese (三). Get creative, make some nice-looking letters! Or don’t, that’s also fine. Then, when you’ve set up your writing system, create some grammatical rules, something that takes ages in ‘normal’ languages. For example, you can have prefixes and suffixes, parts of a word that you put in front or behind the ‘main’ word, which makes certain grammatical rules apply to it, like the prefix un- in unimportant, meaning 'not important'. Also, you need to think about word order, verbs, and all other rules a language needs. Plus, your language can also give a grammatical meaning to certain symbols; like saying that in bike+, the plus would mean the word is plural. So, bikes. During this stage, it can also be handy to already create some basic words, which is my next point: Create words for your language. This is of course not unimportant, as without words you can use grammar as much as you want, still, no one would understand you. Think about a few things when making words: firstly, make sure you have a certain ‘theme’. This means that you make all the words fit with each other, like how Latin evolved to become French, Italian and Spanish, which sound similar to each other, and have comparable grammatical structures. Also, if you made your own writing system, make words that fit with it. For instance, if you have a syllabary, you should have words with those syllables. Not only do the words have to fit together interlingually, but also within the languages themselves. Now you have a language! It may be fun to create a book, like a dictionary, with all the words, and the grammatical rules in the back, or the front of the book. But most importantly, practice your language! Write a diary, teach it to, and speak it with friends, online or in person, or even both! The possibilities with language are endless since it’s such an important aspect of our lives.

100 Years of Fashion for Women By Nancy & Evi, B1dt

diverse trends. From sophisticated and casual to bright colours and bold prints, the 60s embraced it all with stylish flair.

In this article we wrote about 100 years of fashion. The years we wrote about are :1920, 1940, 1960, 1980, 2000, 2010 and we are gone predict the fashion of 2020. We hope you enjoy it. 1920 In 1920 the women fashion entered the modern era. The women started to wear more comfortable clothes such as short skirts and trousers. Two of the most iconic fashions of the 1920’s are the cloche hat and the flapper dress. The cloche hat of the 1920s evolved from the wider-brimmed hats of the decade before, and continued to evolve up until the 1930s and beyond. Clothing styles consisted of more than just the cloche and flapper. In fact, this is the era during which more casual clothing was introduced to the public. For example, women began to wear pants more often and there were certain styles of women's shoes that were unique to this decade as well. 1940 In a nut shell 1940s women’s fashion were about creating a certain silhouette. Wide padded shoulders, nipped in high waist tops, and A-line skirts that came down to the knee. This was the everyday shape for clothing from suits to dresses. One might say that women's fashions of the 1940s were dictated by Adolph Hitler. The German invasion of Poland in September 1939 set the tone for everything that happened in the next decade. And as fashion follows social trends and the events of the world economy, World War II necessitated changes in clothing styles and fashion design. 1960 An extreme style and attitude from the start of the decade to the end. In the early years the fashion idol was Jackie Kennedy with her perfectly white pearls and tailored suit dresses. Women's fashion in the 1960s was full of change. Unlike the previous decades, the 60s were a time of emerging and

1980 Catalogues from 1980 don’t differ a whole lot from 1983, but once you hit 1985, watch out. You can almost smell the hairspray from the pictures alone. Catalogues from 1980 don’t differ a whole lot from 1983, but once you hit 1985, watch out. You can almost smell the hairspray from the pictures alone. Bright coloured accessories like sunglasses, bangles and hoop earrings were a necessity. Teased hair, loud makeup and neon were an important part of this style. This style was obviously more popular with the younger crowd. 2000 2000s fashion is often described as being a global mash up, where trends saw the fusion of previous styles, global and ethnic clothing , as well as the fashions of numerous music-based subcultures. Hip-hop fashion generally was the most popular among young people, followed by the retro inspired indie look later in the decade. 2010 In the 10s neon colours were out of style in Europe, America and Australia, and they were replaced by black, white, various shades of grey, and charcoal first on the catwalk, and later as street fashion. Black and white (sometimes red). Polka dot blouses and dresses underwent a revival in China and North Korea in addition to chunky 90s inspired platform heels. This trend had spread to Middle Eastern countries like Turkey, Iran and the United Arab Emirates by 2016, with Italian brand Dolce and Gabbana launching a range of black and white hijabs and abayas decorated with lace daisies, roses and lemons. 2020 We think that in 2020 the fashion will slowly change. If you are shopping you can see that clothes from the 80s and 90s slowly return. They won't be exactly the same, but overall they will stay the same. It won't change very much in comparing to the fashion from 2010-2020. The fashion has changed a lot in the past 100 years. We think that in the next 100 years the fashion is going to change even more.

Creatures in the Water

By Sabine, Jesse & Lucienne, V2at

In general

In this article we are going to talk about funny, cute and sometimes weird animals. In this part of the article I (Sabine) am going to tell you about Stingrays. There are lots of Stingrays species and they are related to sharks. If you want to find out more about Stingrays, than read on!

Stingrays live in freshwater and spend most of their time being inactive. They like to burry themselves into the sand or just float on the water. Stingrays move by pushing the sides from their body up and down. When they make this movement it looks like they're ''flying'' on the water like a bird in the air. The stingray's spine has sharp edges and a sharp point. The underside produces venom, which can be fatal to humans and which can remain deadly even after the stingray's death. There are about 200 different species. Stingrays are related to sharks, because they have cartilage instead of bones. Cartilage is a kind of bone too, but it is very flexible and soft. You can feel cartilage, for example, in your nose.

Name: Type: Average life: Size: Weight:

Stingrays Fish 15 to 25 years Up to 6.5 feet, which are 2 metres Up to 790 lbs, which is 350 kg

In Greek mythology, Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, was killed when his son struck him using a spear tipped with the spine of a stingray. Stingrays don't use eyes to find their prey. Stingrays have electrosensors which help them find their prey.

Stingray attacks and how to avoid them Stingray attacks are most likely to happen to divers who swim in shallow water or who, accidentally, step on a stingray's tail. Naturally, the stingray will react. When you step on it, the stingray whips its long tail forward and down, which jabs the stinger into the diver. There isn't any treatment so if the poison's got onto your skin, you will die. To avoid stepping on top of a stingray, divers can shuffle their feet when entering the water.

Olive Ridley turtle

10 facts about Stingrays • • • • •

• •

• •

A group of stingrays is called a ''school''. Baby stingrays are born fully developed. They look like a very small version of their parents. Baby stingrays can take care of themselves from the moment of birth. Stingrays get 2 to 6 children each year. Stingrays are edible. They're especially eaten in parts of Malaysia and Singapore, where they used to roast them over coals and serve them with spicy sauces. Stingrays already existed in the Lower Jurassic Period, which is about 150 million years ago. Stingrays have a very strong cheek, even though their bones are made from cartilage. They can crush stones with it. Stingrays have their eyes on top of their head, so the thing you see from underneath aren't their eyes. Sometimes, Stingrays are called ''whip-tail rays''. There was a Stingray in Finding Dory

In this part of the article I (Jesse) am going to talk about the olive Ridley turtle. I chose this animal because it’s one of my favourite animals, so here is some general information: it is a reptile, so it’s a cold blooded animal. It can weight up to 45 kg and grow an average length of 60 to 70 cm and it’s conservation status is vulnerable

Shell Olive ridleys get their name from the colouring of their heart-shaped shell, which starts out grey but becomes olive green once the turtles are adults. They have one to two visible claws on each of their paddle-like flippers. Hatchlings are dark grey with a pale yolk scar, but appear all black when wet.

Diet The olive ridley is predominantly carnivorous, especially in immature stages of the life cycle. Animal prey consists of protochordates or invertebrates, which can be caught in shallow marine waters or estuarine habitats. It feeds on such creatures as jellyfish, snails, crabs, and shrimp. They will occasionally eat algae ad seaweed as well.

Habitats

On the left you see a baby Stingray, on the right you see an adult stingray. The ‘eyes’ you see underneath the Stingray aren’t it’s actual eyes. The eyes of a Stingray are placed on top of the head, like you see in the picture above on the right. The ‘eyes’ underneath the Stingray is actually their nose! This is the end from my part of the article. I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Most observations are typically within 15 km of mainland shores in protected, relatively shallow marine waters (22–55 m deep). Olive ridleys are occasionally found in open waters. They are known for synchronized nesting in mass numbers.

Females return to the very same beach from where they first hatched, to lay their eggs. They lay their eggs in conical nests about 45 cm deep which they laboriously dig with their hind flippers.

Narwhal

Threats

Hatchlings, most of which perish before reaching the ocean, are preyed on by raccoons, coyotes, feral dogs and pigs, opossums, coatimundi, caimans, ghost crabs, and the sunbeam snake. Adults are often taken by sharks or killer whales. On land, nesting females may be attacked by jaguars. It is notable that the jaguar is the only cat with a strong enough bite to penetrate a sea turtle's shell. It was also noted that the cats consumed the neck muscles of the turtle and occasionally the flippers, but left the remainder of the turtle carcass for scavengers as most likely, despite the strength of its jaws, a jaguar still cannot easily penetrate an adult turtle's shell to reach the internal organs or other muscles. In recent years, increased predation on turtles by jaguars has been noted, perhaps due to habitat loss and fewer alternative food sources. Sea turtles are comparatively defenceless in this situation as they cannot pull their head into their shell like freshwater and terrestrial turtles. Females are often plagued by mosquitos during nesting. Humans are still listed as the leading threat to the olive ridley turtle, responsible for unsustainable egg collection, slaughtering nesting females on the beach, and direct harvesting adults at sea for commercial sale of both the meat and hides. Other major threats include mortality associated with boat collisions, and incidental takes in fisheries. Trawling, gill nets, ghost nests, longline fishing, and pot fishing, have significantly affected olive ridley populations, as well as other species of marine turtles. Coastal development, natural disasters, climate change, and other sources of beach erosion have also been cited as potential threats to nesting grounds.

I (Lucienne) am going to write about one of my favourite animals; the narwhal. You might have heard about this animal before but you probably haven't. So, I'll give you some general information about this peculiar whale. A narwhal is a medium sized toothed whale and is part of the Monodontid Family along with the adorable beluga whale. Which is also one of my favourite animals. Narwhals live in the arctic waters around Greenland, Canada and Russia. In the winter, they move to offshore, deeper waters under thick pack ice, surfacing in narrow fissures in the sea ice, or leads as spring comes, these leads open up into channels and the narwhals return to the coastal bays. I think that seeing those big whales migrating is quite a funny sight. Narwhals create a sort-of vacuum and suck up their food which includes squid, Greenland halibut, shrimp, Arctic cod, rockfish, flounder, and crab. They are mostly hunted by polar bears and orcas. Native Inuit people are also allowed to hunt this whale legally, they are the only ones who are allowed to do this because Narwhals are near threatened. Like most toothed whales, narwhals communicate through "clicks", "whistles", and "knocks". I would love to hear them 'talk' to each other.

This is the end of my part of the article. I hope you liked it. NINTH ISSUE

You might have noticed that I haven't even talked about the narwhal's most peculiar feature: it's tusk. The tusk is actually a tooth and people are unsure what they use it for. There has been more research and scientists think that they've found the answer. They say that the tusk is full of nerves and is used as a sensor. With this sensor, they are able to 'taste' the concentration of different chemicals in the water. The tusk makes them sensitive to temperatures and with their tusk they are able to find females that are ready to mate. Here are some fun facts about narwhals: • The name 'narwhal' comes from the old Norse word 'Nar' which means 'corps like' because the greyish colouring (apparently) represents the corps of drowned sailors. Pretty disturbing, right? But I still think that they're cute. • Narwhals are called ''the unicorns of the sea'’ because of their cool looking tusk. • The tusk can grow to be ten feet long. • It can also bend about a foot before breaking. • Its tusk is actually a tooth. This was all we wanted to talk about in this article. We hope that you enjoyed it and that you’ve learned something new about these odd but amazing animals.
