Bonjour, mes amis!
Each year the yearbook is dedicated to some outstanding faculty or staff member. This year we are proud and honored to dedicate the 30th edition of THE SHIELD to a man who is truly an important part of life here: Mr. Mitchell "Mike" Berard.
Monsieur Berard has taught French at St. Martin's since 1952. Born and raised in Louisiana, Mr. Berard grew up speaking French. He continued to study the language both in the U.S. and in France.
Known for his beautiful paintings, his love of sailing and his pipe, Mr. Berard's enthusiasm in the classroom leaves his students with an appreciation for French culture and the fine arts. Through his many years of service, he has been an avid supporter of the athletic program, and his work in beautifying the campus is evident by the many trees he has helped to plant.
He is a man of many talents, only one of which is hamburger cooking, as seen on past St. Martin's Day picnics.
What more can we say about a man who has given so much of himself?
Merci beaucoup et au revoir!
