This season promises a plethora of poetic happenings. As usual we have our spirited monthly Pint of Poetry sessions in the Cellar Bar where we welcome new readers every month, as well as an everenthusiastic audience. If you’re thinking of stepping up for the open mic, you couldn’t be in more encouraging company. We have two more ‘Poetry Swaps’ lined up where hand-picked poets perform mini sets in the Cellar Bar, plus we’ll be continuing our monthly

poetry readings upstairs at Walkers Bookshop. We’re also delighted to be hosting the sharpest poet in the pencil case, Nic Aubury, for a poetry workshop on 10 April. On 26 April we’ll be hosting the much-anticipated annual poet laureate final. If you’re keen to throw your hat into the ring, keep an eye on the Arts Centre website for more details. The deadline for entries will be 31 March. If you’d like to polish up your poems in readiness, join us at the Poetry Society affiliated Stamford Poetry Stanza on the second Monday of every month. What is the Young People’s Programme?

Lincolnshire One Venues (LOV) is a network of eleven visual and performing arts centres in Lincolnshire. At the heart of the LOV Young People’s Programme (YPP) is a desire to deepen young people’s engagement with the arts. This means providing opportunities for young people to develop their creative skills, to commission creative people, to produce new work and to become involved in venue programming.

Lincolnshire One Venues are proud to offer bursaries of up to £1000 to aspiring artists/companies who need support. If you are a young person or want to work with young people then you may qualify for our next round of bursaries. DAN POOLE - BURSARY RECIPIENT

Dan Poole is an aspiring singer-songwriter who received a bursary from Lincolnshire One Venues to help develop his EP. Taking inspiration from diverse artists such as Frank Turner and Tim Minchin, Dan Poole is creating his own captivating sound with other talented musicians. Join in on a Wednesday evening or Friday morning. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, sculptor and artist Jonty Meyer will teach you skills to advance your artistry. Students will learn to create a sculpture in clay working from a model. Beginning with building the armature, Jonty teaches you to recognise the basic forms, planes, symmetry and proportions. Once completed, your sculpture will be prepared for firing in the kiln for you to pick-up on a later date. Get inspired! Friendly afternoon drop-in sessions for both beginners and improvers with qualified art teacher, Heather, who will help you develop your drawing and painting skills. Term starts with observation drawing pencil, charcoal or pastels and each week there is a still life or floral theme to work from. There is a range of resources available on the work of both modern and traditional artists. Focusing mainly on painting in acrylics, we welcome anyone wanting to work in watercolour or oils. ACCESS

The ballroom, gallery, box office and coffee shop are all on the ground floor and easily accessible. The Art Room, Rehearsal, Burley and Exeter Rooms are on the first floor. There is a platform lift to the theatre with two spaces for wheelchairs. Please let the box office know in advance if you wish to reserve a wheelchair space and if you require an adjoining seat for a companion. The theatre has an induction loop; hearing aids should be switched to the T position. Toilet facilities are available close to both the theatre and the Ballroom and we have baby changing facilities. If you need further information or assistance, please talk to the Box Office staff prior to your visit who will be glad to help.

Discounts (priced in brackets) vary from show to show. Generally they are available to Artscene members, children and students, unwaged, over 60s, disabled patrons and their companion. Occasionally, discounts are unavailable for certain events organised by outside organisations, for which we are the ticket agent.

We regret that we are unable to give cash refunds. If an event is sold out, we will try to resell unwanted tickets. An administration fee of £1 per transaction is charged for this service, if your tickets are sold on. We will credit your account for you to use against a future purchase. The management reserves the right to change the programme if necessary without notice.

Please contact the Box Office if you are planning to bring a large group of 10 or more to a show.

GIFT VOUCHERS

You can collect your prepaid tickets from the Box Office at any time leading up to the performance, or we can post them to you for a charge of 99p. Tickets bought online are subject to a £1 transaction fee (not per ticket).

We have baby changing facilities on the ground floor. We recommend that you do not leave the building if you have children 8 years or under in a workshop. Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult in the Theatre/Ballroom. A limited amount of babes in arms tickets are available for £1 on selected family shows for children under 2 years old. We reserve the right to alter or amend this allocation without notice.

Tickets for live events (not cinema), may also be provisionally reserved over the phone. Payment must be made within three working days or half an hour before the performance, whichever is sooner. Failure to do so may result in the tickets being released for resale.

The Cellar Bar is open every evening with a large selection of wines, real ale and regular live music. Attending a live performance? Why not beat the rush at the interval and pre-order your drinks?
