I’ll admit it, I am not the biggest fan of Christmas music. I don’t hate it, but it just seems that it’s the same ten songs played over and over and over by different artists. My husband, on the other hand, LOVES Christmas music. He can’t wait until the day after Thanksgiving to start playing it and he plays it non stop for the whole month. His favorite song? The Band Aid classic from the 80’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” With the way the holidays are marketed these days though, how could someone NOT know that it’s Christmas? (Or Hanukkah...not leaving you out, just making a point.) It seems that these days we can barely get through Halloween before the decorations fill the shelves of every store and the commercials start advertising holiday sales with kids in holiday sweaters and horse drawn carriages in the snow. It can just be a bit much. It seems like we get all of our holiday spirit out of the way before Thanksgiving even rolls around, and by the time December gets here, we are just burned out. Can it just be the New Year already? We don’t want to be Scrooges though, do we? And if we HAVE to be the Grinch, we would prefer to be the one whose heart is 3 times larger. The key is to remember what truly matters this time of year... family, friends and love. Whether you are religious or not, this is the time of the year when we truly do love one another just a bit more. We are more open to helping a stranger, giving to charity, and going out of our way to show everyone that we care. It’s a wonderful time of the year when we take the time to be thankful for all of our blessings and celebrate. Which leads me to what I personally have to celebrate. All of you. When I set out seven months ago to start this adventure, I wasn’t sure if anyone would follow me on it. But I had faith that if I did what I liked, others would like it as well. And you have. This has been more successful than I imagined and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. YOU are my STAND family and I love you dearly! Okay, all that sappy stuff aside, it really IS the Holiday Season - and before we get all Scrooged out - I really do encourage you to enjoy this 4th volume of the STAND Lookbook AND the extra special Holiday Shopping section. Get those Wish Lists together and support those companies and artists that support us and make this all possible. Shopping independant artists and small businesses is the very BEST way to shop this season, and all year round! I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and raise a glass of egg nog to many more years together!
