RFID TAG UP
Scan, scan, encode
Tips and Tricks:
Best case scenario 8 team members (2 teams of 3 and 1 team of 2)
1. Work in two teams of three
Sticker- start from the front and work your way back including the stockroom
Do not tag any clearance ending in $0.88
Do not tag any damaged items as you will scan them out soon
Ensure all mannequins are scanned (window, floor and uppers)
Ensure all items are encoded in the hold closet
Scan- follow along behind the person with the stickers to scan, scan and encode the product
Standards- set the store back to standard (tags tucked, sized, folded correctly, hangers in line)
2. Have a team start stickering on the jewelry tables and the impulse fixture
Empty each basket/ cubby
Remove each peg to ensure sticker compliance
Use post it notes to mark completed areas to ensure 100% accuracy on the rounders
3. Complete a front to back stock count
One team member logs in before the second gun is launched
Start at the front and work your way to the stockroom
When and how to place an RFID sticker:
1. Only place a sticker on items that do not currently have either an RFID sticker or show the RFID symbol on them.
2. Place the sticker anywhere on the merchandise tag that does NOT cover important information such as style, color, sku or price.
3. When placing the sticker try to avoid any foil lettering or metal .
4. Place the sticker on the tag prior to encoding. DO NOT try to hold the sticker in your hand or scan it from the roll.
5. Ensure that you are using the proper size of sticker for the item that you are encoding.
Once you have applied stickers to the items you are now ready to encode the RFID tag.
From the quick launch screen click the ENCODING option.
You have 2 options to enter a sku:
I. Scan the product barcode by pressing the trigger on the sled . *You may have to cover the RFID sticker in order to ensure it scans the correct barcode.
II. Key in the 12 digit sku number by tapping in the SEARCH PRODUCT box to activate the keyboard.
When the brand tag has been scanned correctly you will get the notification
Product is valid
Scan the RFID tag.
*This may take multiple scans for the Zebra scanner to pair with the tag.
When the tag has picked up the RFID code you will get the following notification.
Target tag is invalid
Continue to hold the tag close to the scanner until the encoding is complete.
When encoding is successful you will receive the notification that the Tag encoding succeeded. Click the back button to start a new tag and repeat the steps.
You will complete this for all tags that you place a RFID sticker on.
When to use ENCODING:
I. Company directed tag-up
II. You receive an item for return that needs a RFID tag
III. An item is missing a tag and a new tag is made
IV. Shipment is received without RFID tags
V. The current RFID tag is bad or not coded correctly
Encoding Tips and Tricks:
1. The RFID stickers DO NOT react well with metal. Please try to avoid the foil lettering and the metal grommet on jewelry cards. This will also affect the encoding of the candles due to the wax bases consisting of metal. If you are unable to encode the candles due to this please move on to another item.
2. The RFID stickers MUST be applied carefully without compromising the antennas on the back pf the sticker. When applying to anything with a curvature please apply the sticker on the vertical not horizontally or wrapping the sticker around the item.
3. If you get a “ENCODING FAILED” notification after 3 attempts please move on to another item. If the next item encodes successfully, return to the previous item and remove that sticker and encode with a new one. The removed sticker can be disposed of in the trash.
4. If the RFID sticker is larger than the tag that you are trying to adhere it to, please wait for the smaller rattail stickers to arrive.
