SHELBY THE LEGEND MAGAZINE SPECIAL EDITION HONORING OUR sPECIAL EDITION MUSTANGS

MAGAZINE

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

SHE’S STILL AS BEAUTIFUL AS SHE WAS THE DAY I GRABBED HER...

My Mustang is a 2010 Shelby GT500. It was the rebirth of the GT500 that Carroll Shelby put together. It is a 2010 SVT 5.4 V8 Shelby GT500 KR 540 HP 6 Speed, Convertible with Grabber Blue stripes through the interior! It is a beast.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

I bought this car in 2010 after a dealership owner changed his mind and decided to go with the new Boss 302 for his collection. I knew I couldn’t afford this car. But I would have it.

I had owned Mustangs my entire life. But this was my dream car… the ULTIMATE Mustang lover’s dream car. My father-inlaw helped me with the financing so I could afford the payments! 13 years later, she’s still as beautiful as she was the day I grabbed her from the show room floor!!

She has a garage full of car show trophies to prove her rare beauty as there are only 13 in her color combination in the convertibles!

Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A MUSTANG FANATIC...

Nicknamed Cobra Sam, I have always been a Mustang fanatic for more than 40 years. I have owned a Cobra SVT since 1997 and when the SN95 era of the Cobra SVT ended in 2004, I started to set my mind to the Shelby GT500.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. When the 2013-14 Shelby was released I gave it a few years to work out the bugs and kinks before I decided to purchase my own. I knew I wanted to customize it to my satisfaction and add my personal touches. So that is when I started the journey of repainting and modifying the car.

Modifications include Whipple 3.8 Gen 5 supercharger, custom Fore Innovative complete fuel system, Stainless Works long tube headers, VMP 69mm throttle body, Dd149 cold air intake, BMR drag lowering springs, BMR lower control arms, BMR adjustable panhard bar, and it is corn fed.

This is the very first Shelby that I have ever owned. I have been driving Mustangs since I was 18 and took 18% interest rate just to get behind the wheel of my first one! I fell in love with the brand when I was a child, hearing the stories of my grandfather having one when he was in the Air Force. I grew up working on different cars but could never get the same feeling I get when I get behind the wheel of these beautiful machines. The best part of the Mustang is that it is so easy to make unique! All work on my car has been done by my business Surreal Customs. Once I was old enough to enlist, I bought my first one. A 2005 4.0 V6. I enjoyed that car so much but I wanted something bigger so then I got a 2015 5.0 GT. That was a beautiful car, fast, and shifted so smooth. And then the 2020 Shelby GT500 released and I had to have it. I worked extra jobs to save up enough cash and God blessed me with the right time and right place to finally get one! I have plans of buying more in the future, but this is one car I will

THE DEALER SAID IT HAD MORE HORSEPOWER THAN ANYTHING ON THE LOT. I found my 2021 Ford Performance Blue Shelby GT500 online in a McLaren dealership of all places. It had a ceramic coating that was stunning to look at under the lights and next to McLarens was easily my favorite car. The dealer said it had more horsepower than anything on the lot. The GT500’s looks, aggressive sound, and performance have far exceeded my expectations from day one.

TV, and going to drag strips for a while it was something I wanted to do and realized I could with my GT500. I made a few friends at car shows that were into drag racing and now I’m doing test and tunes at Bradenton Motorsports Park.

When I was younger my mom was a racetrack photographer. I had a press pass and got to spend time at the track and in the pits. Seeing the drivers’ shops, tools, car parts everywhere was cool, and I’ve always had a lot of respect for racers and interest in cars. I’ve been going to car shows and tracks taking pictures (following in my mom’s footsteps) and sharing them out to the car clubs I’m in. A few have been in STANG Magazine.

My GT500 really stands out and has won several trophies including a NMRA car show award where I watched a GT500 shootout. After watching racing on live streams,

I own a 2013 Ford Mustang shellby GT500. Let me introduce you to Jolene. She is completely stock with the exception of a MGW short throw shifter and a Hurst pistol grip shifter.

I am the second owner. I had her shipped from Longbeach, California to Anderson, Indiana. She had 1400 miles on her when delivered and now has 3500 miles. I had a 2011 Mustang GT and upgraded to Jolene. Man what a difference!

I’ve always loved Mustangs and finally have my dream car.

IT LED ME TO LOVE EVERYTHING FORD TO THIS DAY.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

I owe my love of cars to my grandfather James. When I was younger, he’d take me to the Maryville McDonald’s on certain mornings when his pals were gathering. His friends would bring so many amazing classic vehicles — namely Ford Mustangs — but also El Caminos, Galaxies, Bel Airs — the list goes on and on. They were always so kind and informative. Their passion for cars was infectious. Fast forward to high school when I finally snagged a license. I’m embarrassed to admit my first vehicle was almost a Metallic Teal Camaro. The dealership talked my dad Terry out of it because insurance was a nightmare and tried to push me towards a Dodge Stratus. Luckily, James found a nice used Ford Ranger for me instead. It wasn’t a Mustang, but it led me to love everything Ford to this day.

The next huge moment was when one of my best friends Grant started getting into Preludes. I was so fascinated at the completely different style imports presented, and almost tried to buy one myself, but that plan ended the moment I set foot at my first local car show. A 2003 Mystichrome Cobra pulled in and started revving. It was an eight-cylinder symphony. At that moment my destiny with Mustangs was immediately realigned. In 2010 I finally acquired my first of four. A 2011 Race Red Mustang V6 — the Cyclone engine had just been released. I had no business with 305 horsepower under my lead foot, but I had never felt more alive!

I traded a couple times after that, and finally landed on Mean Green. The moment I saw Grabber Lime in person, I knew it was my favorite color. Not to mention one of my

grandfather’s friends used to pull up in a 1971 Grabber Lime Mach 1 — it was all coming full circle.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

I’m extremely lucky to be a part of Smoky Mountain Stangs here in East Tennessee. Thanks to them, I had the honor of going WOT on the Half Mile of Mayhem that is Martinsville Speedway — twice! We’ve also conquered the Devil’s Triangle and several other amazing routes in and around the Smoky Mountains. Mean Green is also driven by my wife Shellie. I will always be grateful for her ability to put up with my excitement for any and everything Mustang. I am also extremely blessed, as my son James (named after his grandfather) has decided his first Mustang will also be green!

This is my 2018 Shelby GT350. Her name is Meena which is an Indian name for blue stone. Also in Bram Stoker’s Dracula it was the girl that Dracula was after all the time. She is tuned by Jon Lund Racing and has a Corsa resonator delete.

I’ve had a 2008 GT500 and two 2008 Shelby GTs over the years that I used to take to tracks around the country. With the price of used cars being what they were over the past couple of years, I decided to get into a Shelby one last time and bought this one. I love it and it’s a blast to drive. No tracking it though. Just love cruising around in it with my Dachshund Millie Jean.

Currently I’m the event photographer for the Terligua Preservation Society which runs the October Terlinga event in memory of Carroll Shelby started by Amy Boylan in 2008. We’re having our 15th Anniversary this year. Anyone interested in going can contact the Terlingua preservation Society.

MY DREAM HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO BUILD A CAR WITH MY SON...

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

This is My LNOR, my 2013 Shelby GT500. It has been my dream car since the day it was first announced in November of 2011 and I was lucky enough to finally get it three years ago. My dream has always been to build a car with my son that we could take to car shows/meets as a way for him and I to make some great memories. He and I even signed the SVT builders plaque on the valve cover. My love of Mustangs started in the late 90s when I got my first Mustang. It was a 91 convertible 5.0 Foxbody. I loved that car and spent way too much modding it to end up with a little over 400 hp, which at the time was a monster. Luckily, my then girlfriend, now wife, has always been supportive of my love of high horsepower Mustangs. When I had to sell it to start a family, it was with the promise that one day I would get another one.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. Build list includes VMP twin 67mm throttle body, JLT Big Air intake, 2.4 pulley, tuned by VMP, VMP heat exchanger, 1 7/8 American Racing long tube headers, off road X pipe, electric cut outs, 60 lb. injectors, and McLeod RXT 1200 clutch. Future plans include a built/sleeved TKM short block,L&M cams, id1300x injectors and boosta pumps, and 3.0L Whipple.

There are several reasons why I wanted a 2013 Shelby GT500. First is that it was the last year that Carroll Shelby had his hands on the car. Second is that it was the first factory 200 mph Mustang ever built. Not to mention it is the 20th Anniversary of SVT (which no longer exists) and it was the highest horsepower producing production motor America had ever seen. In my opinion, this car started the modern day horsepower wars that we see today. Currently, I am saving for a completely built TKM shortblock so I can

My story is a long hard road. I’m a disabled Veteran. It’s been my life long dream to own the 2014 Shelby. I thought it was one of the best Carroll Shelby ever produced. My wife actually threatened to to divorce me over buying this car and now owns one. I was given the opportunity to become the South Carolina state Director for Team Shelby. I ran with it because I have nothing but time on my hands. I welcome all Ford truck owners and all Mustang owners. It’s my belief we are all the same and to be honest, most Shelby owners save all their life to own such an iconic car. I am greatful for every day God allows me to wake up and serve others. I’m just an old broke down disabled Veteran but my goal every day is to bring positive change to someone’s life, as my own life will be cut short.

In 2021 my dream finally came true. I bought my dream car, this 2014 Shelby GT500. Shortly thereafter my wife saw the passion in it and we bought hers. Everyday is a blessing. I owe my life to God and everything I have.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

I wear my Directorship as an honor to the late Carroll Shelby. My only regret, I was never able to meet the man. However, I have been honored enough to have dinner with the honorable Gary and Sarah Patterson. I tell my members that if they ever need someone to talk to, they can call me day or night. If they need anything to include someone to cry, pray, talk, or vent to. What they speak to me about stays with me, them and God. I love all my members. They are the most important thing to me. Each and every member makes Team Shelby what it is today.

I was about 10 years old when I developed a passion for Mustangs. I’m 69 years old now and the first Mustang I saw was a 67 GT. The color was yellow with a 390 cubic engine. Man I thought that was the greatest car the FMOCO had ever built. I said to myself, one day I will own me a Mustang.

So as time passed, I saw this 69 Shelby GT500 and man what a car. When I graduated from high school, I got a job and my first decision was to purchase a Mustang. Well, my dad and I went to the Quality Ford dealership in 1972, located in Whiteville, NC, and there sat a 1968 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet Mustang. I purchased the car and man was I excited about owning my first Mustang. It was everything that a man would want in a car.

Since then, I was up to number 7. Number 7 was a 2015 GT 5.0 with 435 hp. I wasn’t satisfied so I ordered this

IT IS A THERAPY FOR ME.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

This was love at first sight for me the moment I saw this car. I always wanted to drive a Shelby since I was a kid. I named her “The Mistress” and my wife thinks I love this car more than anything.

My two daughters love my Shelby so much they always want to go for a ride with me. This car makes me smile every time I drive and it doesn’t matter what is going on in my life. It is a therapy for me. I have a vanity plate for her that says “smilepg” meaning “smile per gallon”. It is interesting to some people as they ask me what that means.

I also get lots of questions about the number 527. It is a combination of my two daughters’ birthday dates (mm/dd) and it also makes the same HP to the wheels. The Shelby is one of my pride and joys and one of my favorite toys.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. THE FUSION OF POWER, PRECISION, AND DESIGN IN THE GT500 LEAVES AN INDELIBLE MARK...

Since my first encounter with a 1999 Mustang, a flame ignited within me, and I have since been captivated by the power, elegance, and unmistakable roar of these iconic American muscle cars. Owning a 1999 model was just the beginning of an exhilarating journey that would shape my passion for Mustangs. From there, I eventually transitioned to a Race Red 2018 GT350, relishing every moment of that flat plane crank V8.

However, my devotion to the Mustang lineage didn’t stop there. Recently, I made a bold leap and upgraded to a 2021 CFTP GT500, embodying the pinnacle of Ford Performance engineering. This automotive masterpiece boasts an awe-inspiring 760 horsepower supercharged engine. The fusion of power, precision, and design in the GT500 leaves an indelible mark on my heart, as it represents the epitome of Mustang’s evolution.

To enhance my Mustang’s allure and protect its pristine

condition, I’ve invested in various modifications. A full PPF film shields the body from potential blemishes, while the ceramic coating amplifies its gloss and resilience. Carbon fiber side splitters and front wickers not only enhance the car’s aerodynamics but also infuse a touch of aggressive sophistication. The SPE carbon fiber intake unlocks 40 additional horsepower, further elevating the car’s performance. Painted rad bar, Shelby dress-up parts, tinted windows, and a carbon fiber center console. And to capture every breathtaking moment on the road, I’ve equipped my Mustang with a Blackvue dashcam, preserving memories and providing an added layer of security.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

Every now and then, you run into a situation where you’re sitting there, staring, eyes wide open, like a deer in the headlights. In 2012, there was an organization that was raffling off a car - a 2012 Race Red Shelby GT500 convertible, with all of the bells and whistles. SVT Performance Package, Leather Recaro Racing Seats, Shaker Sound System, the works. We all know how these car raffles work. You buy tickets at $25 a piece, they raffle them off for months on end, no one knows if anyone wins, etc. Well there was a gentleman who bought 1 ticket for the raffle at Carlisle Ford Nationals. Coincidentally, that’s also where they drew the winning ticket – and he won it.

2012 is a very special year for Shelby, as it’s the year Carroll Shelby passed. So here is a GT500 from the year of Shelby’s passing, one of the last ones signed by Carroll Shelby himself (vehicle manufacture date is July, 2011) and the gentleman wins it for a $25 raffle ticket. What would you do? I’m not sure what I would do, but I know what he did. He parked it in a climate controlled garage for almost a decade, and would drive it around the block every now and then just to keep it moving.

He decided to sell the car since it was just sitting there, and a good friend of mine who is his neighbor, told me about the car. Of course, I had to go and at least see it. I go over, walk in the garage, and there was the deer in the headlights look. The car was immaculate,

not a scratch, dent, ding, imperfection, or anything on it. That was in 2021, the total mileage on the car at that point was – sit down for this one – 264 miles. That’s total odometer reading. So this is one of those once in a lifetime moments. Lightning never strikes twice. When would I ever have the opportunity to get my hands on a 2012, Carroll Shelby signed, GT500 convertible, with less than 300 miles, again? Short answer – NEVER. So I made the move and bought it from him.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

My first car at 16 years old was a ‘73 Mustang Fastback. Since then, which sadly has been decades, I’ve never been without a Mustang. Sure, I have my daily drivers. Ford Focus, had Ford Probe for a while, but there’s always been a Mustang in the stable. This one is extra special though. The stars and planets aligned, or something, because I fell into the right place at the right time. I love this car, but more importantly, the history and heritage behind it.
