Music in Church or Church Music as it's been fondly Called refers to any musical piece performed inside the four walls of the church. But it is not limited to that, it also entails all other processes involved in a smooth delivery of Music in church, Ranging from the pastors, Music Directors, Choir members, Musicians, Sound engineers etc. Some months ago a virtual conference which featured many great Music Minister's including the dynamic Darrel Walls was organized by David Justice. Also known as Oracle Dave the crooner of the widely known song " Olorun to Tobi, Olorun baba agba" This is too tell you that it is a very important aspect of Gospel Music that should be taking seriously and not be taken with levity, a lot of churches have been seen lagging behind musically , this month’s issue will open your eyes to Great insight about Church Music and everything related, plus you get to meet David Justice as he tells us More about himself during our exclusive interview with him. Watch out for all of our other Spirit filled and inspiring content from our dynamic and creative writers... Thanks

SBM: Can we meet you sir? David Justice: I am David Eniolawale Odion Justice SBM: Tell us mo re about your background sir? David Justice: I am a lover of God from a Muslim background. The Original composer of the song Olorun totobi. I composed the song in t he year 2015 and since the song has been a blessing to Humanity... I had an unquenchable love for music from childhood days. I was inspired by listening to and watching videos of Bob Marley, Lucky dube, Fela Kuti, Sunny Okosun and PeterTosh while growing up." Then my uncle who was a songwriter who would always carry me along with his songs taught me how to harmonize songs" As I was growing up I developed interest in the art of music and began to build up the necessary skills needed in the field of music by listening to people like Jmoss, Tonex, Marvin Sapp, Boys2men. I joined a Group and that was out on the nation's paper in 2010 and met people like Stylplus and the likes. Since I was

born as a Muslim, I followed my dad to the mosque every Friday with my tw in brother, Raphael Justice, and was always going to church with my Uncle but wasn't born again.

Until 2011 March 12," one evening I met Victor Adetolaju Charis around 8:30pm on campus while on my way to my hostel from a rehearsal. He ministered Christ to me and I decided to follow Jesus and left the secular music that I was into. Later on, I met Oladipo Mike aka Anointed MIKKY who mentored me in the area of spiritual music. I also met EngineerFemi Adedeji who mentored me and took me as a son and gave me a platform in his vision; "Tenors". After that, I worked with Dbass, Gbemiga Adejumo, Agape Choir just to mention a few. I have released several tracks, Hosanna being the first one, Great God ( Olorun totobi) which happened to rock the waves all over the nation and Oba.i have also featured in songs like Kirakita by Roz Justice (my twin brother), Atewo by Oluwole olukoju and Thank you by desire. I also have a crew named WORSHIP SQUAD with a mandate to take over territories for God and his kingdom.

SBM: How did y ou come about the names Oracle Dave and Dav id Justice? David Justice: I came about the name Oracle Dave in the year 2012 In the place of fellowship with my team then in DA TEMPLE CHOIR when I was their HOD. David Justice is the name given by my parents.. My surname is JUSTICE SBM: How did this Music journey start and how has it been? David Justice: The Music Journey started from Childhood.. Growing up to see My dad who loved reggae Music and Afro Music so it really gave me the vibe to want to sing.. little d id I know that I was going to venture into Music later. So as I was growing up in

Church. My love for music grew rapidly, played the drums and discovered I could sing .so I decided to train my Voice by listening to other persons that were ahead of me, a nd also had to do a study on music .. It has been great so far. SBM: What has been keeping you going so far? David Justice: It has been God's Grace oooo... Just Grace SBM: Can you share with us one of your memorable moments in the course of your Music journey so far David Justice: Every of my journeys so far as all been memorable One of such is about my song Olorun totobi which came out around 2016 and which witness a lot of people

coming out that it's their song. It's a memorable one because I don't want to make the same mistake any longer by not pushing myself out there. Another one was when I was invited with my crew to ile oluji by a friend to minister without making any arrangements for us all in the name of "it's Gospel", we had to sleep over at a frie nd's place and even up to this moment we didn't see our transport fare. Smiles

SBM: What else do you do Aside Music? David Justice: 7. I am a Fashionpreneur.. I have Fashion brand .. David's Collections. I am the CEO David's Collections Church Music as it's fondly called is our

church. These were my concerns that brought the "Music in Church" Conference. SBM: What do you think is missing in Churches especially The Music aspect? David Justice: Although I might not be able to pinpoint specific Things that are missing but to an e xtent I think we have many mediocre who are hiding under the covering of the Holy Spirit is going to take other, there hasn't been a place for professionalism. The Balance should be there

SBM: What possible solutions can you proffer? David Justice: Pay our professionally trained Musicians. You know

we have some guys that studied Music professionality, these set of musicians are doing Music as a business, that's their career path.

Music is a yardstick, it's one of the means where souls are drawned to the presence of God. so I feel that Churches should take up responsibilities of placing these g uys on salary especially our so called big Churches and monitor them that they can also grow in the knowledge of the father If this can be done we won't have some problems when it comes to Music in the church, if we pay them

well they won't go out there t o d o secular music. You can't tell a Doctor to work in the church hospital and not pay him or her, nothing makes music different. There's nothing wrong in paying them SBM: What are the important things that relevant stakeholders in church Music (like the Pastors, Music Directors, Choir Members and the Instrumentalist) should take note of in having a better perspective of church Music David Justice: Music is a yardstick, it's one of the means where souls are drawned to the presence of God. So I feel that Churches, pastors, Music directors, Musicians should take note that apart from the fact that

this is music business, we're also doing it for the furtherance of the Gospel. So for those people who are carried away with the business part I think greater enough should giving to the spiritual part of Music in church in order to strike a Balance.

too because they preach the Word via Music. So it should be taken seriously. SBM: Wow it's been an awesome time with you sir, Any last words? David Justice: As Much as we take skills seriously, we should take spiritually seriously, if you're skillful and not spiritual you can only get applause but if you're spiritual and not skillful you can still win souls, but you see, what makes it easier to come closer to you More due to what to do is when you're skillful and also anointed, you can operate in the perfect intent of that reality. SBM: Make a shout out to someone special to you

SBM: Why should we take Church Music Seriously? David Justice: We should take church music with great importance is because it is as important as the Word. For some people the reason why they want to come to church is because of the Music. Music ministers are pastors David Justice: First of all I want to thank God for making me relevant in thisseason and also I want to thank my twin brother for always supporting me also to myfiancĂŠ mercy pleasant Ayoola for giving me peace of mind and supporting me. Shout out to My pastor.. Pastor Femi Lazarus and Sphere of light Church.. SBM: What can you say about Star Buzz Magazine? David Justice: Wow, You guys are amazing, I just discovered that you guys went out of your way and uploaded my Song titled something better, Thank you so much for being an amazing team. I love y'all Thanks for your time sir.

WINDOW BOLUTIFE IFE PURPOSE REQUIRES URGENCY Welcome!!

It's so nice to have you here. Hope you're influencing your world positively? Peeping through the window this month, I'll be pointing a torch to the topic; "purpose requires urgency" . I hope you're aware of the fact that the future is playing out right before your very eyes and there's nothing like going into the future. The truth is, you're already walking in it. So, make every step count! With that being settled, you need to understand the place of purpose in your journey. It is said that; "when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. This can propel us to use a microphone as a rolling pin. Chances are if you've never seen a microphone before, you might use it as a rolling pin. What fueled your decision to use a microphone instead of a rolling pin when kneading a flour, is because the purpose of the object is unknown.

A sense of purpose is a deep understanding of the reasons behind our efforts and a thirst t o pour out your time and energy which is satisfied with the impact you're making in the world. You need to understand that there's a gap you need to fill. And until you fill that gap, it's still a gap. After the discovery, don't sit on it. You don't have forever to fulfil destiny. You need to start exploring immediately. You need to understand that purpose requires urgency. It transcends making money. So, solve a problem and make the world a better place to live in. I can't wait to see you break limits . Till next month, when I'll bring another chapter to your door step. Always remember that; the world is waiting for you. We can't wait to have you! Be exceptional! BOLUTIFE IFE. oyelamibolutife@gmail.com
