SMART SCENE
FREE summer library programs & activities
Summer Fun at You Whether you want to read, watch, listen or do, Stark County District Library has you covered this summer. Whatever your age or interest, whether you want to be entertained or inspired, we’re sure to have something that fits the bill. That’s why we like to call ourselves The Smart Store®. But unlike any other store, the library is the one place the whole family can go this summer where everything is free®. So grab your library card and come check it out.
bikeSMART
Here at the library you can check out books, CDs, magazines, and e-book readers… so why not bikes?! We have teamed up with Stark Parks and Canton Parks and Recreation to launch bikeSMART, a new bike share network for Stark County. You may have seen similar bike shares in Columbus or Cleveland, but you haven’t seen one like bikeSMART. It’s FREE to all Stark County District Library card holders! If you want to check out a bike for a quick ride on the trail, a trip to the farmer’s market or just to zip around town, just stop into your local library branch to set up your account. There will be six bikeSMART hubs throughout Stark County, including one at the Main Library downtown, and five other locations adjacent to parks and trails. Stay tuned for the official launch date, and keep a lookout for our easy-to-spot red bikeSMART bikes. 2

No Fines? No Kidding!
If you haven’t been to the Stark County District Library recently, you may not have heard the news… we’re reimagining what it means to be a library. It’s all a part of becoming what we like to call The Smart Store®. What does it mean to be smart? It starts with being easy to use: Worried about missing a due date?
We’ve eliminated overdue fines and made it easy to renew items for up to a whole year. And don’t let old fines keep you from visiting – we’ve waived those too.
Short on time? Try one of our five drive-through windows. Simply
reserve your materials online (or by phone) and they’ll be ready for you to pick up without even getting out of the car.
Need a new read at midnight? Our website is always open.
Instantly download free ebooks, movies, music, magazines, and more any time of the day (or night).
If this sounds a lot like your favorite store or streaming media service, you’re right. There’s just one difference…we're the place where everything is free®. Pretty smart. Stark County District Library is:
