STAROOT JOURNAL INTERNSHIPS/LEARNERSHIPS SA Military Health Services: Traineeship Programme 2017 Closing Date: 29 February 2016 Military Health The Department of Defence is proud to offer this opportunity to the South African youth with the main purposes of promoting and enhancing the concept of Nation building. We are also serving National interest by encouraging our youth to develop a common South African Identity through exposure to military norms and customs. The emphasis will mainly be on discipline development, empowerment and global competitiveness. The SA Military Health Services is offering young South African citizens an excellent opportunity to serve in uniform over a 2 year period. These training and development opportunities will be constituted by means of a voluntary Military Skills Development System (MSDS) period of two years in order to equip young South Africans with market related skills. General Training Potential Applicants may apply for the following two year training opportunities. Animal Health General Training (Dog handlers and Veterinary Orderlies)— Animal Health perform basic animal care, their primary duties include assisting with surgical procedures, dressing wounds and collecting specimens. The SAMHS is also responsible for the training of the SANDF Dog Handlers and recruits can be trained in this field. Graduates, Learners that completed Grade I 2 or learners still busy with Grade 12 may apply. Chemical Biological Radiation Defence (CBRD) — This mustering involves activities and actions to defend against Chemical Biological Radiation weapons. This includes protection, detection and decontamination. Physical Training Instructors (PTSR) — This mustering ¡s responsible for maintaining the fitness levels required for all uniform members. PTSR training takes place at the Joint Physical Training Sport and Recreation School in Pretoria. The duration of this learning opportunity is approximately 3 months. The scholarship may be awarded for undergraduate (Bachelors) in the identified scarce skills, postgraduate (Masters or PhD) or non-degree Chinese language studies. Preference is given to applications for postgraduate studies. STAROOT JOURNAL INTERNSHIPS/LEARNERSHIPS Thuthuka Bursary Funding Applications The purpose of the project is to annually place between 250 – 300 fully bursared Black African and Coloured students at selected SAICA-accredited universities in cohorts of 50 per university on special undergraduate BCom Accounting education programmes. The accredited universities that are part of the programme are the University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Johannesburg, Stellenbosch University, University of Pretoria, University of Cape Town, Free State University and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. The Thuthuka Bursary Fund is looking for academically strong learners who aspire to become Chartered Accountants. Students who do exceptionally well in Mathematics and have excellent marks in the other subject to qualify for university entrance may apply.

Do you qualify? • Do you have 60% in Mathematics in your Grade 11 Final Results (Level 5)? • Do you have enough points to qualify for university entrance? • Do you come from a family that cannot support you financially at tertiary? •Are you an African or Coloured learner? If you answered YES to all the questions above, then you qualify. Requirements for application of the Thuthuka bursary: • The learner must be African or Coloured • The learner must be a South African Citizen • The learner must obtain atleast 60% on Mathematics (5 or above on the NSC Scale of Achievement) NOT MATHS LITERACY • The learner must be in Grd12 intending on studying B comm. Accounting • The learner must be financially needy and will be assessed using the NSFAS MEANS TEST to confirm financial need • The learner must not be out of Matric/school for more than 2 years. • To be considered for the Thuthuka Bursary Fund, you are required to register and write the National Benchmark Test (NBT).
