DESCRIBE WHY YOU CHOSE THIS LOCATION & THE BUILDING PROCESS
It feels like it took a lifetime to acquire and create this home—and in some ways, it did! We initially considered buying a small parcel of land adjacent to the property. However, while exploring options, we came across this location. Though it wasn’t on the market, we reached out to the owner two or three times a year to inquire about a potential sale. After six years of persistence, he agreed to sell.
Following the purchase, we navigated a year and a half of discussions with the City to re-plat and gain approval for the build. It wasn’t an easy process, but the results were worth it. The home now occupies one of the most tranquil and majestic sites in downtown Steamboat Springs.
Construction started in late 2020, during the Covid Epidemic. While the “building envelope” went up very quickly and efficiently, finishing the home took some time as the availability of materials was unreliable at the time. While this prolonged the time to complete, it also allowed time for more quality control and refinement of details.
