Task description: Students will complete a 90 minute examination on the topics of Introduction to Calculus (Preliminary), Exponential and Logarithmic Functions (Preliminary), Transformation of Functions (HSC), Trigonometric Functions (HSC) & Further Differentiation (HSC) Type of Task: Formal examination: covers a broad range of syllabus content and outcomes, supervised under exam conditions (allowed in 2022 due to Covid exemptions) Method of Submission:
Timing of Task: Week 9 Task date: 30 March 2022 Task weighting: 30% Will this task be completed as part of the Assessment Block in Weeks 9 and 10? Yes Time allocated to task: 100 minutes
Task completion details: Students will complete a 90 minute examination and be allocated an additional 10 minutes reading time. Examination questions will be answered in the lined space provided and must include all relevant working.
Task outcomes: MA11-5 interprets the meaning of the derivative, determines the derivative of functions and applies these to solve simple practical problems, MA11-6 manipulates and solves expressions using the logarithmic and index laws, and uses logarithms and exponential functions to solve practical problems, MA12-1 uses detailed algebraic and graphical techniques to critically construct, model and evaluate arguments in a range of familiar and unfamiliar contexts, MA12-3 applies calculus techniques to model and solve problems, MA12-5 applies the concepts and techniques of periodic functions in the solution of problems involving trigonometric graphs, MA12-6 applies appropriate differentiation methods to solve problems
Instructions for Task Preparation: The following study/revision could be done to assist in preparing for this task: Test Yourself and Challenge Exercise for each relevant Preliminary and HSC topic being examined, ProjectMaths (Canvas), Preliminary and HSC Worksheets contained in Canvas, Past HSC Trial Examination papers (Canvas), Edrolo
